Well done @N0Tfunny !!!

@SuperSue77 I’m not sure whether we have any top tips for UCAT… we didn’t start early. Maybe 6 weeks before the booked date. We did ours third week August. He used medify and then a couple of freebie medentry and ucat website. I remember thinking that he was burning out by end of week 5. But he does a lot of competitive stuff and is remarkably able to tolerate stressful situations… so…

Hello, I hope it’s ok to join you all at this later stage! My DD has taken a slightly longer route to medicine. She is currently final year of a biomed degree. She didn’t apply for medicine direct from 6th form, partly because she didn’t do Chemistry A-level and convinced herself she wouldn’t get any offers because of this, but mainly because it has just taken her a bit more time to really start to believe in her academic abilities and realise where her true calling lies. She has absolutely loved her biomed degree, really excelled and on track for a First but even by the end of first year she knew she absolutely wanted to be a Dr and nothing else, which leads us to where we are now…

She has applied for 2 standard entry (undergrad 5 yr) courses and 2 graduate (4 yrs). UCAT 2340, B2.

Very excited to have 2 interviews already (one at Worcester - graduate entry and another from Leicester today for the standard entry course). She has to sit another test for Worcester called the Casper test which is a bit like an extended Situational Judgement test I think followed by a panel interview. For Leicester it is in person MMI with 6 separate “stations” testing everything from interpersonal skills to maths ability. I’m exhausted just trying to get my head round it all. Very glad it’s her doing them not me 😂

Well done to your daughter, sounds like she’s on track! It’s a tough road for sure… I’m sure a bit of life experience is a good thing and will stand her in good stead. 17 seems so young to be going through this crazy rollercoaster process.

bluefineliner · 20/11/2025 06:01

@MyGreyBiscuit yay! well done to your DS, first interview relief for you too.

@N0Tfunny well done to your DD too! Are you Scottish or will it be a very long journey up there (if it is in person of course!).

@trakehner Hi, your DD sounds very well prepared for med and she'll have some great experiences for her interviews, good luck.

DD's MMI day went well thank goodness. It has given her motivation that she is able to think on her feet and on what she needs to work more on.

Peanuts79 · 20/11/2025 08:18

Congratulations to everyone on your interviews! DD just had her first one come through for Brighton on Dec 9th. She is so excited to hear from one.

MyGreyBiscuit · 20/11/2025 09:15

excellent! well done to @Peanuts79 !
Thanks for the well wishes @bluefineliner - do you know if your schools start later from Dec/Jan? The other schools we've applied for, we don't expect to hear till Jan.

Thefatbutteredpig · 20/11/2025 10:14

Great to see interviews coming through. We haven't heard anything from Keele, Notts, HYMS and Leeds as yet

Itsallstressstressstress · 20/11/2025 10:34

DS just received e mail for Glasgow interview next week. Still waiting to hear from the other 3

Thanks, he seemed to be very calm, it was me who was getting nervous. Fingers crossed he gets interviews with the others too and ultimately a place!

My DD found Glasgow the hardest one to read how it was going last year as it was 2 x15 minute online slots back to back. She said the questions were how she had expected them to be through based on all the guidance out there, no surprises!

She is first year there now and loving it, good luck to your DS!

inae · 20/11/2025 16:13

Congrats to all! Glad to see so many invites on the thread.

DD has finally received her first interview invite - it's from Exeter (predicted 3A* and A, and UCAT 2180 B1, non-contextual). It's on UCAS, and there was no email with details, but it's likely online. It's for January, so it looks like there will be no December interviews for her.

mumsneedwine · 20/11/2025 16:40

Lovely news. Remember. You only need 1 offer. More are obviously nice but one gets you to become a doctor.

Thank you, he’s been doing preparation work for the last few weeks and has a mock interview with a consultant on Monday so will hopefully help him a bit more too.

bluefineliner · 20/11/2025 17:04

@inae @Itsallstressstressstress , @Peanuts79 fab news on all the interviews!

@Thefatbutteredpig we haven't heard from any either, but luckily DD is fine with this atm. @MyGreyBiscuit from my TSR research Lancaster is late Dec, Liverpool could be Jan before we hear, Leeds should be early Dec and Newcastle are working their way down the scores so who knows! DD is good spirits school wise though as all tests are going great, parents evening tonight too.

Peanuts79 · 20/11/2025 17:40

I'm absolutely loving see invites come in so early with loads of universities still to come. I'm not sure we would be where we are without all the advice on here and @mumsneedwine spreadsheet and reassuring messages. Thank you.

The Top Medic is offering a couple of free interview prep webinars which can be booked via his website - he was head boy at DDs school a few years ago and so lovely.

Also had an Exeter invite tonight, thought we were pushing it with 7th decile UCAT and 3 a star predictions so feel very lucky. Jan 13th but no idea if online/ in person yet.

rockstuckhardplace · 20/11/2025 19:14

Hi everyone! OP from part 1 here. I've not been keeping up with this thread very well! Nothing to report here on interviews, but places DD has applied to aren't sending invitations yet from what I can see.

MyGreyBiscuit · 20/11/2025 19:47

Awesome @bluefineliner and @Peanuts79 on your Exeter invites!! As far as I understand, they seem to rate those with 3A stars over other scores, so that’s great! I think as @mumsneedwine says, it’s about applying to schools that work to your strengths.

Hello

My DD also received a Bristol interview invitation yesterday, UCAT of 2450. She's gone for 9th December. She'd been hoping for MMI's to be after Christmas as she planned to prepare over the holidays. So plenty of pressure with early December interview.

She's wondering about paying for a mock MMI practice session with TheUKCATPeople. It's £125, so not insignificant. Does anyone have any experience with this company?

https://www.theukcatpeople.co.uk/product-page/1x-mock-interview-panel-mmi-style-online

Any suggestions for a better company to use?

@mumsneedwine thank you for all the helpful and calming information about interview invitations, offers etc. Much needed.

Thank you

Yes my DD did tutoring with them a couple of years ago - they were brilliant.
