Annual thread for those with dc about to embark on the rollercoaster of audition season. This is my second time round as my ds did it a couple of years ago. These threads are always really supportive and full of great advice as it’s often hard to explain to others how tough and competitive this process is. Good luck everyone!!

It feels like the first load of submissions heard quite quickly but those late January onwards its taken longer. My DD was 3 weeks she heard for recall and it had looked like they’d only watched a tiny bit of the video, so I’m wondering if they take them offline to watch them. The recall email came in and it was for 5days later, so very last minute!
That was last Saturday and then she heard on Tuesday she was through to 3rd round, so that part seems to be a lot quicker. Good luck, hope you hear positive news soon 🙏🏻

Congrats on your DD getting through to the 3rd round at RB. Mine did too and is waiting for them to release dates for the 3rd round auditions. Mine seems vague about when they said they would release the dates - is your DD any clearer?

Welshdancemum · 01/03/2026 14:56

Is anyone still waiting on outcome from Italia Conti self-tapes? DD sent them on 30th Jan and heard nothing. Many thanks

Checking in have not done so for a while, well done to DC with offers and good luck to all those remaining auditions. @Operagirl1 I am so sorry to hear of your stress and 3 years is so tough to be going through this. We are year 1 and though I knew in my head it was going to be tough I don't think you really appreciate it till going through it. Been brutal here, almost straight first round rejections, a couple still in play for good foundations. No feedback makes it hard as it's challenging to learn. @Paddlinglikehell your daughter's experience is encouraging, thank you for sharing. Thankfully my DD is resilient and has bounced back but it is so tough to see them going down this hard path. But she is determined. One silver lining is she does have a fully funded local 1 year course that she can do and has secured so I think she will be doing this and topping up with additional training and trying again next year. She is going to see the last couple through and then draw a line and focus on her A levels. Best wishes to everyone. We have highly resilient and driven kids and that goes a long way regardless of outcomes!

Thanks wonderfullife 123. The first year of auditioning my dd got 5 offers including foundation at ArtsEd and Oxford School of Drama. She took the ArtsEd offer. The following year she got to the 3rd round of OSD but no offer and here we are at year 3! We applied very late as she was in a show in the run up to Christmas and away from home so couldn't really apply. She's had a recall and has another one in April and still a lot of self-tapes out there we haven't heard from yet. She's had an offer from NYMT which she's not sure if she wants to take as it might clash with recalls and she's doing the WEC singing competition (through to next round). Plenty to be getting on with but very, very tough!! Great news about all the offers and hoping for the best for everyone!

My daughter is still waiting on results from 26th Jan deadline. She emailed last week and they are delayed apparently.

Ah thank you, she is delighted that she is finally seeing progress in her 3rd year of auditions!
Yes DD got same email, just saying that they’d be week beginning 23rd March but will be in touch when booking becomes available. I hate the vagueness. My DD actually emailed them on Thursday just to ask if it is likely to be various days midweek or if it will be weekend again but they haven’t replied yet. She has her LAMDA recall that Friday so she wasn’t sure whether to try and move that before its too late and she also works at the weekend so is trying to give her boss as much notice as possible if its likely to be weekend. It’s obviously a very positive position to be in though 😄

Newgirls · 02/03/2026 08:06

The RB final auditions last year were Saturdays - I think it’s possibly the day when the teachers are available. Also as many students will be taking A levels. Does that help? Though that could change of course!

Ah thank you for this! Did they go over a number of Saturdays? I was reading it like they would all take place on numerous days the week beginning 23rd, however the email was very vague so I think I've picked it up wrong.

I'll let my DD know, she has an audition in Newcastle on the Friday late afternoon so not sure she'll make it down to London on time if it was the next morning. However if there are numerous Saturdays following that week then that would be fine :)

Newgirls · 02/03/2026 11:10

Im not sure - pos two Saturdays for acting? Same for actor muso?

agree, we need to plan! I’m really hoping and expecting that they will write with dates this week. I would prefer a Saturday but wondering if it would be during the week as the students will have broken up for Easter I’m thinking freeing up the site and staff.

Quite possibly as the two actor muso sessions that we are aware of were 14th and 21st Feb, we are waiting on results from 14th 😬 tense times!

Does anyone know for RCSSD if they send a confirmation of audition (DD filled in form) a few days before audition? Also after this recall following self tapes is it a 3rd round or offer as it says they may get an interview in this round?

I met a lady at an audition that advised her daughter had to visit twice for each course that she was put forward for before they then rejected so 2nd and 3rd round it looks like. We are still waiting to hear on self tape submission but we were in the last batch with 4th Feb deadline so expecting a wait yet

I know, they only gave my DD 5 days notice for 2nd round and we're in Scotland so it was quite expensive (and a scrabble) for last minute trains and accommodation but understand they are trying to organise so many people over different courses. I was forgetting about Easter coming up though, that's a good point, really hope we hear this week. It's a good position to be in so really trying not to moan haha.

Ours was 4 February deadline too and we are still waiting to hear.

Same here, but I did notice his tape has been viewed twice over the last few days, so hopefully not much longer.

Does anyone know if the NYT open auditions result in recalls email on Thurs, or is that just for self tapes? Am struggling to understand the audition guide document!

ReprogramNeeded · 02/03/2026 16:28

Status so far for BA MT applications:

Chichester waiting to do audition, but have had conditional offer subject to audition (don't really understand this)

LIPA recall to do
Royal Welsh recall to do

Trinity Laban waiting for outcome of audition

Leeds conservatoire, RCS, waiting for outcome of tapes

Mountview in person audition to do

Performers self tape to do (no in person audition date available)

Hi our confirmation was around 4 days before the actual audition. My DD selected the date she would like so I didn’t diarise it as I assumed they would confirm that or offer another date, So no hotel, trains booked etc.

The 2nd round did not include dance, they said it would be done in a 3rd round if she got the 3rd round recall. Good luck 🤞

My dd is in NYT. She did an inperson audition last year and then got her result some months later. There was no recall for the live audition.

JustDramaMumThings · 04/03/2026 10:00

Hi all, DD has finally heard from Royal Welsh for a date for her second round BA Acting recall. However, they have said on the email to just allow for 15 minutes for the audition. Does anyone have any experience of Royal Welsh recalls at all from previous years?? It states online to have 4 monologues prepared (2 original and 2 new) Do they normally get them to do all 4? Would they have time for re-direction and presume no interview questions? If anyone has any insight at all it would be great to hear, I never see Royal Welsh mentioned that much.

Sop2 · 04/03/2026 14:49

My DD finally heard from Royal Welsh for MT too with a recall on 31 March. Good job she's already accepted another place as she would have been out of the country with school! That's us all done now. 100% recall rate from self tapes, 33% success rate for first round in person. Resulting in 2 rejections, 3 BA offers and 1 cert he. Cancelled remaining 4 recalls as they weren't top choices. Happy with those stats! Good luck for those still waiting to hear 🤞

Operagirl1 · 04/03/2026 15:48

Has anyone had a recall from Royal Central after a long wait. Our cut off date was 4 February and we still haven't heard back. That was for first round tape.

Yes it was. A very steep learning curve! I'm incredibly proud of how she coped with the ups and the downs and I don't think anyone other than those going through it can understand how stressful it all is. So I've been very grateful for this forum 😊
