Annual thread for those with dc about to embark on the rollercoaster of audition season. This is my second time round as my ds did it a couple of years ago. These threads are always really supportive and full of great advice as it’s often hard to explain to others how tough and competitive this process is. Good luck everyone!!

DD got through to the third round at Rose Bruford. Does anyone have any experience of what’s involved?

Hi @MimiGC just wondering if your DD got interviewed after her Monologues for Rose Bruford? My DD didn't and we are thinking this may be a bad sign as we've heard of people who also weren't interviewed and they got a rejection afterwards. She was first to go in the day so we are not sure what happened with the rest of them that were there that day.

No, she wasn’t interviewed (but it wasn’t a bad sign, as she heard later that she got through to the 3rd round). She said of the whole group she was in, only one person was interviewed.

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has had a recall for Birmingham Conservatoire? I’ve had my recall and just curious on when I might hear back?

justanothertheatremom · 23/02/2026 17:57

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has heard from Urdang in the last few days regarding their self tapes?

Operagirl1 · 23/02/2026 19:22

What's the longest anyone has waited on a self-tape and had a positive outcome?

Oh wow!! What school was that if you don't mind me asking? We've been waiting for 6 weeks on Wednesday for Royal Academy of Music PG MT!

Anyone waiting on Trinity Laban after in person auditions? Do we think results next week?

Ah that’s great news, I think your DD is the only person between the forums I read that has actually got through to 3rd round so far so I’m glad I checked 😊 not writing it off just yet then 🙏🏻

Yes waiting here too. Expecting Mid March.

Bucko29 · 24/02/2026 10:37

My YP was told they’d hear the result within 2 weeks of their recall at RBC and if haven’t heard at that point, to contact them 🙂

jjcfc03 · 24/02/2026 13:59

Was anyone on here at the Bruford recalls for Acting on the 14th of Feb and have you heard back?

Having started a thread in 24 when ds was auditioning and this one as dd was auditioning I’m relieved I won’t be doing another one in 27! Dd was delighted to be offered a place at EDA and decided it’s the place for her so has accepted. So saving me some stress and money on hotels over the next few months.

I've learnt so much in these threads over the past few years and appreciated the support and advice from so many lovely people. It’s a hard process to go through and even those with good intentions don’t appreciate how difficult and competitive this process is and it’s nice to just have people who understand.

Wishing good luck to those still auditioning and those waiting for offers or trying to decide.

Hi there! This is our first year navigating this stressful, crazy process! Our situation is a bit different, we are British but applying from overseas. DD wants to come home and follow her dreams of performing. She is stronger in singing and acting, but desperately wants to improve her dance. We still have some applications that she's waiting for decisions on but it feels really disconnected being so far away and not having been able to auditon in person. We're starting to think a plan B is needed in case she doesn't get a place on a BAMT course this year. Has anyone else applied for foundation courses at the same time as BA courses as a backup, or do you have to wait until clearing or all the decisions are in. She applied to a mix of UCAS, UCAS Conservatoires and Independents. I'm trying to think one step ahead and she's also prepared to do a gap year but doesn't want to miss any training opportunities. Thanks for any advice!

My DD heard from Urdang today re self-tapes submitted 6th Feb. No recall unfortunately. 5 rejections so far. This is so tough for them.

Yep, we're on our 4th rejection, its so hard to keep their spirits up! We also got a no from Urdang today.

From my experience, they automatically consider for foundation when auditioning for BA. Some have their own application forms and ask the question (such as Emil Dale)
My daughter was a similar position last year and did a Cert HE where her dance really progressed. She's now on BA.

I’m sorry. My daughter has 6 rejections and one integrated foundation offer with only one more audition result pending. It’s a brutal process. And so awful for us as parents to watch them get so disheartened.

But, as I said to my daughter, it only takes one offer, even if it isn’t the one you dreamed of….

SOTE in Birmingham are a MT foundation school rather than BA and are still taking applications. They seem to get excellent results as their main measure of success is getting their students BA offers.

OMG the waiting is so stressful, probably the worst bit of the journey so far!! I want to know & yet don’t at the same time 🤣 Has anyone heard from Trinity Laban auditions yet? 🫠🙏
