A level results day 2024

How’s everyone else feeling about results day? I’ve got one at uni already and 2nd dd hoping to go to Kent in September. She seems ok about it at the moment although think that will change as it gets closer. Me I’m so keeping my fingers crossed she gets what she wants, I know there will always be other options but she loved the open day. Going to struggle with this one going though as it has been a real journey to get to where she is.

Awake since 4am here and probably didn't get to sleep until after midnight. Nervous ball of energy. DC needs BBB. I am worried about one of the three. They are hopefully going abroad so not in UCAS system.

listsandbudgets · 15/08/2024 06:54

Shot awake at 5am thinking we'd slept through everything and school already closed for.results.. then realised time went back to sleep and had a very vivid dream about results that is highly unlikely to be accurate (,be nice if it was) now feeling sick again

Really worried about one subject ..

School opens in just over an hour there's likely to be a queue but hopefully know by about 8.15.

Is it too early for gin? Asking for a friend…😂

catmomof3 · 15/08/2024 06:58

I actually feel sick with nerves, yet DD is still blissfully fast asleep lol.

MegsNaiceJam · 15/08/2024 06:59

Joining in! We are in the US on holiday. Waiting to hear from the school. BTEC level 3 here so have a rough idea, just waiting for confirmation. It is 2am here, 5 hours behind the U.K. and we cannot sleep!!
thankfully uni place went from conditional on DMM to unconditional at random a few weeks ago so DS is glad the pressure is off a bit.

socks1107 · 15/08/2024 06:59

I dreamt she'd got in but it was written in red.
An hour to go. Good luck to everyone this morning

Never too early! 😂

DD worried - Edexcel grade boundaries have gone up for maths … breathe everyone x

nicky2512 · 15/08/2024 07:03

I’m a nervous wreck. Ds sleeping but he was up to all hours unable to sleep.
He was really unwell during his exams so hoping he has done well enough to be happy with what he gets.
I already said before that he has decided to take this year and look into different things but he tried so hard and he’ll be gutted if his results are bad.

We are waiting for btec results but very weirdly, my child’s conditional offer became an unconditional one a couple of weeks ago.
theyve accepted and have enrolled in the course, so it seems strange to be thinking about the results tomorrow when they are already in.
not sure how that happened and what’s going on.
i suppose its because all of the btec was coursework…
hs this happened to anyone else?

Edited

Yes! Happened to us. Unexpectedly but very welcome. Also BTECs.

Monr0e · 15/08/2024 07:07

Good morning, had a very gitful night's sleep and been awake for a while

Off to make a coffee and put DS's gifts and balloons out.

Wishing nothing but luck for everyone. His college said results would be online at 8am, here's hoping the system doesn't crash at 8.01

Nicolamurraysquietbatpeople · 15/08/2024 07:08

DC was very nervous yesterday which was unusual. Offer is AAA. Predicted grades AAA*A. Absolutely convinced they won’t make the offer despite having put in loads of effort. Really want it to pay off for them for their own personal satisfaction not just to get into Uni (if that makes sense!)

Good luck to everyone’s DC.. 🍀🍀🍀

Eek. Maths is what worries us too.

This happened to my child- it just seems rather random but very welcome.
today, we are hoping to know which accommodation they are in and when they need to arrive vs getting the results and knowing they have the place they want.

good luck to everyone- I remember the stress of my older child dropping a couple of grades during Covid. It was unreasonable of the school, they took marks into consideration that were impacted by a covid infection- kid was off school for two weeks and they had a test on that material a little bit later and my kid hadn’t managed to catch up in the meantime. They used that 27% in the addition together with all of the 75-80% results and dropped the grade so my kid lost the first choice.

anyways- - - I’m hoping for the best for all of your kids

Sniffywhippymum · 15/08/2024 07:10

Been awake since stupid o' clock and now downstairs on my own doing an ASDA order while I wait while DD is still fast asleep! I am definitely way more nervous than she has been. Good Luck everyone! Not long to go now!!

Fizbosshoes · 15/08/2024 07:13

I've been awake since 5.30am (I'm not a morning person so that's an offensive time for me) ...but in the fortunate position that DD has an unconditional offer, she's been offered 1k off fees if she gets BBB so hoping for that.

Rollergirl11 · 15/08/2024 07:15

I woke at 4.30 and was awake for an hour and then fitful sleep for another hour. Have an awful headache. Sitting with coffee waiting for DD to awake.

Good luck everyone!

SuccessM · 15/08/2024 07:15

Good luck to everyone waiting. I have been off and on with my sleep but awake since 4am. My DD is fast asleep. I wonder how she can sleep so soundly when her result is coming out today.

blessedarethequichemakers · 15/08/2024 07:16

Mine is also still in bed and is zen. I am trying to portray calm but I'm not that kind of person!

SockFluffInTheBath · 15/08/2024 07:22

39 minutes to go. All calm here, like waiting for a baby or a storm 😅 good luck everyone!

marmitewrap · 15/08/2024 07:24

Awake since 4.00am here. Surprised I even managed to sleep at all! Best of luck to all the DCs today. 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

marmitewrap · 15/08/2024 07:25

Just made a list of Unis in clearing with required course - high to low grades...😬😬😬

Ujustcantandwont · 15/08/2024 07:27

Relative calm here. I checked the uni site last night and DDs course in clearing only needs 79 UCAS points so that made me sleep a bit better. I haven’t told DD so as not to give false hope as in one of her subjects (Chemistry) she’ll be happy to get a D. So it’s not a given but more hopeful

LouisCatorze · 15/08/2024 07:28

Good luck to all young people today.

SuccessM · 15/08/2024 07:29

@Headingto18 please where did you find grade boundaries for Edexcel maths? My DD has a very high offer , AAA including further maths and Economics. Though maths wasn't mentioned but knowing the maths grade boundaries while waiting for 8am will be a good place to start. She's still fast asleep and I have worried all night because of that ridiculous high offer for BSc Economics.
