A level results day 2024

How’s everyone else feeling about results day? I’ve got one at uni already and 2nd dd hoping to go to Kent in September. She seems ok about it at the moment although think that will change as it gets closer. Me I’m so keeping my fingers crossed she gets what she wants, I know there will always be other options but she loved the open day. Going to struggle with this one going though as it has been a real journey to get to where she is.

Sorry about the ucas thing. They'd put 8.15!! Anyway - she got her firm and is over the bloody moon - as are we!

Can anyone tell me where I can find the grade boundaries for AQA maths?

DS is still asleep but I've seen his results on the college parent portal and he's got the grades needed for his insurance choice. I'm just curious how close he was to an A in maths though as that was his strongest subject. Off to wake him and make sure he's had an offer on ucas!

OlympicGoldfish · 15/08/2024 08:14

@Fanshittheshit DS had 2 A levels and was offered his first choice. He declined it, did another A level after and got in the following summer (to do the same course but at a different Uni). It can be ok 🤞

OublietteBravo · 15/08/2024 08:15

DS missed his offer by a grade, but still seems to have been accepted at his first choice university.

EdithBond · 15/08/2024 08:15

Does it say the grades on the UCAS? DS accepted but says he doesn’t know what his grades are and not in a rush to go to school (as ever lol)

No, school give those out.

DD's friend has got her firm choice but her twin has been rejected by firm and insurance. That must be hard :(

jackstini · 15/08/2024 08:16

Well done all those who got what they needed

UCAS has shown dd got into her first choice for Uni - although she's not planning on going if she gets her Degree Apprenticeship place confirmed

That's not via UCAS though, so no idea when that will come through!

She's not going to college until later to get results as her friend is working this morning - torture waiting for actual results now!!

DD has got in to her firm of Exeter! Now to go to college for results.

Great news!

DD got her results on the college online portal. Is this not an option for your DD?

She's got a lower grade in one subject than Kent requirements, but they gave her the place anyway.

She was so well prepared for clearing, she doesn't know what to do with herself once the 10 minute "accept your place" timer finishes on the UCAS website.

Her friend group have all agreed not to tell each other until 9am, in case any of them need to begin the clearing process.

iknowitsjustme · 15/08/2024 08:19

Tonnes of places in Clearing this year - a very good year for students who just miss their grades.

Bigboysmademedoit · 15/08/2024 08:19

DC got into first choice with AAAA* - so happy!

Delphigirl · 15/08/2024 08:20

Well done everyone! No news yet - my Dd hasn’t phoned me aurghhhhh

stoneysongs · 15/08/2024 08:20

DD got her place at UCL 🥳

Movingon2024 · 15/08/2024 08:21

St. Andrews here for history - so happy for her.
she’s going into school to collect her results.

aramox1 · 15/08/2024 08:22

Still in the queue to log in!

tryingsomethingnew · 15/08/2024 08:22

Wasn't great news here! That bloody physics! Everyone struggled this year.

Didn't get the grades for the offer. B B D- does this translate into ucas points or do we just go to the clearing sites now??

loupiots · 15/08/2024 08:22

DS got his first choice! Off he goes to Wales :) I'm so relieved, as is he!. Congratulations to those who got their choices, and well done to all, they've worked so hard. And as it's been said, there are options out there if it's not the exact result wanted.

Monr0e · 15/08/2024 08:24

Thought he'd be offered his insurance choice on his grades but logged into ucas and he's got a place at his first choice.

It's goi g to be a very happy birthday after all!

Good luck to those still waiting or looking at their options x

MirandaWest · 15/08/2024 08:24

DD got into her first choice Bristol. She’s gone off to school to get her actual grades. She was very nervous opening up UCAS

My DS the same. Got on a degree but would rather do a degree apprenticeship. But I haven’t got a scooby when he’ll find that out. He doesn’t tell me much. He’s not in a rush to get up.

Delphigirl · 15/08/2024 08:25

Oh I’m sorry @tryingsomethingnew . I think clearing opens at 9. Maybe look on websites of those unis she thinks might have spaces now?

daffodilandtulip · 15/08/2024 08:26

DD is in her first choice!

Delphigirl · 15/08/2024 08:26

@Monr0e hapoy birthday indeed! Well done him

Tarjet · 15/08/2024 08:26

DS got his firm but we don’t know grades yet. Predicted Astar, AA but his course was in clearing for BBB (he had a contextual offer for ABB) so we can make a guess about what he got based on that.

Congratulations to those with good news and for those who didn’t get their choices, please don’t despair - it’s possibly the best year for clearing in a long time.
