Hi

Trying to do some research accommodation in Nottingham, I saw Lincoln Hall and Cripps Hall next to the medical school.

  1. do anyone child has experience with these hall
  2. the rooms are expensive ( i know it is catered ) but is it worth it or it is better to look outside campus?

appreciate any input and even if you found others better places that you can recommend.

@Ib1234567 any of the halls on campus are good. Even the far end is only a 20 min walk across the meadows (& the walk is a good way to meet people),

DD was in the halls at the bottom left as you look at the campus map (near the West entrance) - Ancaster / Cavendish/ Florence Boot and her (slow) walk was 25 mins - they're the furthest halls from QMC on campus so the other halls will be closer. Cripps & Lincoln are popular halls. She would definitely recommend catered for the social side (she was fed up of the food by the end of 1st year but would still choose catered). The current medics do a "walking bus" in freshers week, so they pick up all the medics at each hall and everyone walks together to QMC - so you get to know the medics in your hall from the get-go.

Thank you @mumsneedwine @Fiftiesishard good to know about the walk. I appreciate the help.

How are all the first year medics getting on?

DD has her last exam today and cannot wait for it to be over - it would appear that med school is no walk in the park 😂 She has non-assessed lectures and placements from next week until the end of of term in early June. Then holidays and summer work beckons!

Can’t believe the first year is almost over already - that’s raced by! Hope everyone else doing well

Groundhogday2021 · 02/05/2025 17:35

Hope the exam went well for your dd @Sybill 🤞
My dd has anatomy exam in 2 weeks and then her final exam in early June so still a few weeks to go for her! But loving her time and course in Bristol! Hasn’t the year flown by?! Can’t believe this time last year was almost the start of A levels! Makes you realise just how short normal degrees are in comparison to Medicine!
Hope everyone else’s dcs in Year 1 have had a good year too. 😊

Good luck for your DD’s exams @Groundhogday2021 - hope all goes well for her 🤞
All good with my DD - exams all done 🥳 she actually had anatomy today, and so happy to be done! She’s unsure about how one of the exams went but thinks/hopes she’s done enough to pass.
You're right about how quickly a 3 year degree would go by though, judging by the blink-and-you-miss-it of this year!!
