Adding new thread as other full up!
For Bath query: Deadline is 1 July for guaranteed first year. It says on the website that it's randomly allocated according to stated preference and course status (don't know what that means). There's a lot of preferences! Not just catered/self catered and the building, but quiet/single sex/LGBTQ/additional requirements/even those with assistance animals!
It really wouldn't be fair to do it first come first serve unless they had all the offers out first (which they don't as we are still waiting).

Fell off the last thread and just found you all! Good to see so many who were waiting have now started to see offers come in, and very envious of those who have made decisions!!!! We have our last offer holder day on Saturday but I honestly don't know if it will help -DD is still torn between Leeds and Birmingham at the moment for first choice and I have a horrible feeling that this weekend probably won't help 😥. 3 weeks of school to go after this one and it's looking like they'll only just finish the content before they go on study leave (and the first exam is the week after that so v squeaky bum time!).

Lightsabre · 17/04/2024 22:53

Think I hid this thread by mistake.

TheOnlyMrsW · 21/04/2024 08:50

So the last offer holder day did indeed help - thank the stars!!!! Really liked the Leicester campus and the subject part of the day was great - engaging staff, relaxed atmosphere and it stayed dry! Not so sure about the accommodation side of things, the Village has beautiful surroundings and poor transport links after 10pm so the social side could be difficult.......
However DD has put it down as insurance and firmed Birmingham and is glad to have the decision made! Just need to get grades now 🙏

MerchSwyddEfrog · 22/04/2024 20:49

DS has finally got his last offer in for UCL. It’s only taken 6 months. He seems so relieved though as am I.

mondaytosunday · 23/04/2024 08:17

@MerchSwyddEfrog 🎉🎉

@MerchSwyddEfrog Huge congratulations! What a relief to finally hear back.

Lightsabre · 23/04/2024 13:25

Glad to hear your good news @MerchSwyddEfrog and hope your scan finalise things now.

mondaytosunday · 24/04/2024 00:10

DD finally, finally, FINALLY got her offer from Bath. Too late for offer holder day (today - Wednesday). We had dinner together and watched three episodes of 'The New Look' before she told me!

InAMillion · 24/04/2024 00:31

Brilliant news @mondaytosunday albeit annoying re offer holder day

I've not heard of The New Look - misses point of thread entirely but off to find out

Turquoisesea · 24/04/2024 08:23

My DS had an offer from Warwick yesterday too. I really thought he wouldn’t be offered at this late stage so he’s very happy.

Rosa · 24/04/2024 10:49

Joining the thread late in line - Just found it ! Is anyone overseas applying for finance support? My DD has had 5 offers ...very happy ( she is in the UK btw) BUt we ( and our income) are abroad. She is eligble for home fees . I have a NI number but no Uk income and the form is a nightmare also as our tax year is different to the Uk ... DD is putting Warwick as firm and Bristol as Insurance!

mondaytosunday · 24/04/2024 13:58

Good news @Turquoisesea.
Can't help you @Rosa but looking at the posts here and WIWIKAU student finance has been a nightmare this year. We're holding off until DD finds out if she'll be at home or away.

OP posts:
FebuarySmith · 24/04/2024 15:41

DD firmed UCL, is an unconditional offer so is now fully focused on Sep.

MerchSwyddEfrog · 24/04/2024 18:07

Congratulations @mondaytosunday. Are you still waiting for 1 more? Bath have campus tours you can book if you want to go for a look around. We’ve booked 1 for this weekend just so my dh can see the campus.

Congratulation @Turquoisesea.

Congratulations on firming @FebuarySmith. I bet you feel a load has lifted! Did you manage to get to a offer older day?

mondaytosunday · 24/04/2024 18:27

@MerchSwyddEfrog yes waiting for LSE. Should she get one the big dilemma is home or away! Last night she finally figured out how compound interest works...

I haven't ever posted in this thread but my DC is still waiting on Bristol, with grades in hand. I'm losing my mind (how can they still be making decisions? how???) but DC is calm and fairly resigned to taking the offer from their 2nd choice. Seeing that others are still having offers trickle in v reassuring!

PatriciaHolm · 24/04/2024 20:55

DS finally got his Bristol offer today, albeit a variant on what he wanted (another engineering discipline). Nice to have but I think because its quite different to what he wants, it's not a runner, but he feels good to have got it.

Bath have also finally said they will be making him an offer "very soon" .... so that would be all 4 (already has Loughborough and Notts, both aerospace).

mondaytosunday · 24/04/2024 21:00

@PatriciaHolm that's good news! Has Bath said they are making a decision soon or actually said an offer? Why don't they just make the offer? Really that's so frustrating!

OP posts:
Cantonet · 25/04/2024 18:20

Mine had one rejection yesterday & 2 today. Only one he didn't meet the criteria for. Other candidates scored higher apparently was the feedback Given that he missed a term of school due to ill health & is now predicted 3A's I feel a bit disappointed for him. But his two offers are good unis so everything will be ok.

Eze · 25/04/2024 18:48

My DS is still waiting for Newcastle. It’s frustrating as it’s his first choice and they’ve already opened accommodation.

WombatChocolate · 25/04/2024 19:19

I think these places are waiting to see how many offer holders firm, insure and decline. This shows them how many more offers they can make in order to meet whatever ratio of offers they need to make to places available.

In the early stages I’d bet that based on the predicted grades and PS of students, they can put some kind of likelihood figure of them firming on offer holders, and by aggregating figures, have an early sense of how many more offers they can make without ending up with too few or too many on results day.

At this stage, people are firming, insuring and declining…although it’s hard to know what proportion have done it by this stage. It gives them more info about if they can still make X more offers or only Y more offers.

I suppose there comes a point where they hit the deadline and have to either offer or decline based on the info they have, even if not everyone has firmed etc.

But I think it’s this, as well as slow processing that explains why the long wait. Yes, there’s a lot to process, but many other places have as many to process and have managed to make their offers.

futureistoday · 25/04/2024 22:54

The offer for UCL chemistry arrived today - my DD has just checked her emails, at almost 11 pm ))

mondaytosunday · 25/04/2024 23:19

Yay @futureistoday! My DD's Bath offer came in after 11pm a few days ago. Either they are all working very late or there's delays in the systems.

OP posts:
Lightsabre · 26/04/2024 12:00

Glad to hear of more offers coming in but it must be really frustrating if dc haven't heard yet, particularly as the focus needs to be on revision now.

Offer received today - so all in now!
