Congratulations to your boys on their offers@speedyhedgehog, and fingers crossed for DD 🤞

Don’t worry @Absentadditive some just take longer than others. DD applied in October and is still waiting on one (Sod’s Law, it is the one she most wants!)

QueenMabby · 25/01/2024 16:51

Congrats to all those with offers and commiserations to those who have had rejections. The LSE applications responses sound batshit! They're probably just pulling names out of hats.

Ds had an interview at Lancaster yesterday. They liked him and told him there and then that his offer would come within a fortnight and that he would be getting a reduced offer if he firms them. That's great as it's his "alternate" firm if Bath is a no.

Still waiting on Bath....

speedyhedgehog · 25/01/2024 19:15

Congrats to @queenmabby's ds!
And thanks @pumpkinknitter, @mytholmroyd and @writerofwrongs. Ds for computer science got two more offers through today nottingham aaa and surrey abb. He's being very quiet about it which is kind of sweet and kind to his siblings but kind of sad too that he's not shouting it out. I'm so pleased for him.

Cx5 · 25/01/2024 19:50

Wow @speedyhedgehog I thought it was bad enough having twins apply together, I can't imagine how many uni visits you must have been to! Congrats on all their offers coming in!

QueenMabby · 25/01/2024 22:01

I spoke too soon! DS has just had the UCAS email with an offer from Bath. Someone's working late tonight!

WriterOfWrongs · 25/01/2024 22:39

Congratulations @QueenMabby thats wonderful! And yes clearly they’re working overtime Grin

Comefromaway · 25/01/2024 23:21

Final offer in for dd from Man Met.

she is pretty certain where she is going to accept but thinks she might attend an offer holder day to make sure.

MerchSwyddEfrog · 25/01/2024 23:32

Congratulations to all who have received offers. We are still waiting for 2, Durham and UCL. My ds is not concerned, too busy working and going out! He has grades in hand. It’s driving me up the wall though. I really don’t understand why some universities take so long, I honestly thought having grades in hand would have been much simpler but that’s not the case.

RaelImperialAerosolKid · 26/01/2024 07:13

We're going to the York day - should we wear a secret sign to recognise each other?

In other news DD has got mocks coming up so the stress is ramping up now. It's an unbelievable amount of work they have to put in in order to achieve their grades - so good luck to them all.

itsanewera · 26/01/2024 08:33

Hi all- can I ask a really basic question as my Y12 DD refuses to ask her teachers..
She wants to sign up to universities for booking open days etc and she says they say to use the email address she will be using for her UCAS application.
She has a personal email address and a school one. I suggested she used her personal one as presumably her school one stops working at the end of Y13 and surely would be better to use a personal one?
She's getting all worked up about it and I can't imagine it matters much!
What email addresses have your DCs been using?
Oh- and congratulations on the offers! Am dreading next year....

bestbefore · 26/01/2024 08:35

@itsanewera it doesn't matter. I signed up for a few with my son using my email - open days are separate to the application. On the form I think they use their school one

loobylou44 · 26/01/2024 08:43

@itsanewera last year my daughter was told to use a personal email address as the school one is deleted when they finish at the school.

SooperOuting · 26/01/2024 08:46

It’s a good idea to use a personal one in case school one doesn’t work past June.

Revengeofthepangolins · 26/01/2024 09:54

For those looking out for Durham English, DS2 got an offer today, so they seem to be finally rumbling into action

Thanks- that was my thinking as well!

Ooh. When's this? Dd has her york offer but we haven't been yet! 🙄

JediKnightingale · 24/01/2024 17:28

@Mytholmroyd There are three dates for York offer holder days. I know there is one in Feb and also March 9 and 16th.

Just seen! Sorry. In my defence. I'm in a hospital waiting room and not sure when I'll be called through!

Well done to your DS!! 🎉🎊 DD also applied to Durham for English so here’s hoping that she hears from them soon.

Revengeofthepangolins · 26/01/2024 10:37

@Rollergirl11 lots of fingers crossed for her

RaelImperialAerosolKid · 26/01/2024 10:58

@Tortiemiaw - I'm being unreasonable asking this far in advance which one we're going to. So it will be the day before when I find out. (In fact I think I am being unreasonable about absolutely everything up until the actual exams)

Angrymum22 · 26/01/2024 11:04

Quick question DS has just submitted his UCAS this week. He is applying post A levels. For lots of reasons he was not in a position to apply last year in yr13.
Does anyone have any experience of how quickly he will receive offers? He has already had two offers from his 4th and 5th choice both of which he was over qualified for. But his grades were slightly under the pre A level offer level for the other 3 unis he applied to. If he had applied last year he would have sailed into all 3 during clearing, it was an odd year in that so many didn’t get their offer grades but still were accepted into their first choice.
Is anyone else in this position and how are the offers going?

Rollergirl11 · 26/01/2024 12:54

@Revengeofthepangolins thanks. Do you remember when your DS submitted his application? Just wondering if they’re working through in date order. So clutching at straws pretty much! 😬🥴

I think his went in around October 12th. Top half of the alphabet :-). Totally understand your feelings, which is why I posted! Am still wondering what UCL are doing with their pile of applications. All very mysterious

lifeturnsonadime · 26/01/2024 15:18

Ah @Rollergirl11 it's so frustrating.

We had a similar thing with UCL history offers. Some were made prior to Christmas but DS wasn't made an offer until 10 January. He was an early applicant and has his name is towards the start of the alphabet so goodness knows why his offer was later than some of the others!

Hope your DD will get a positive outcome to that soon and congratulations to your DS @Revengeofthepangolins .

Rollergirl11 · 26/01/2024 15:49

12th October submitted and top half of the alphabet here too! Think I’ll sit on this info as DD may very well combust if I tell her. It’s just so difficult not to jump to conclusions.

Hope you hear from UCL soon @Revengeofthepangolins. Does your DS have all his offers back now @lifeturnsonadime?
