Well done on all the offers

DD is another history student and has had offers from 4 of the 5 applied to and at the next stage for a foundation degree at a Oxford but is Ok if doesn’t get that one, it’s a wild card as they only take 50. Belfast is top of the list, we are going over next month to have a look, her godfather lives in Antrim and her cousin is there and enjoying it

QueenMabby · 20/01/2024 16:37

Congrats for your dc @listsandbudgets. Do you mind me asking which course? Still waiting on Bath here...

listsandbudgets · 20/01/2024 16:41

@QueenMabby Biochemistry

QueenMabby · 20/01/2024 16:47

Excellent - a stem subject! DS applied for a stem subject too (physics).

WriterOfWrongs · 20/01/2024 17:08

Congrats on all the offers!

Comefromaway · 22/01/2024 19:58

An offer has come in tonight for Dd from LJMU. It’s her 1st choice so she is now not going to visit Brighton or Cardiff Met. She is very excited.

However she is going to wait to see if she gets an offer from her 2nd choice of Man Met & if she does will visit just to make sure.

listsandbudgets · 22/01/2024 20:10

@Comefromaway Brilliant what subject? Congratulations to her it's such a relief when their preferred uni offers :)

listsandbudgets · 22/01/2024 20:12

@QueenMabby Yes a STEM she's very much her father's daughter. My degree is in history - fat lot of use I am to her when it comes to helping with her work!! Luckily DPs is in physics so he's a bit more useful

Comefromaway · 22/01/2024 20:50

Sport & Exercise Science

Blushingm · 22/01/2024 21:02

Finally DD has her Cardiff offer, just waiting on Bristol. She's v excited

WobblyLondoner · 22/01/2024 22:07

DS got an offer from Bristol today, Econ & politics.

WriterOfWrongs · 22/01/2024 22:10

Congrats to all the offers that came in today 🎉 Very pleased for all your DC.

MerchSwyddEfrog · 22/01/2024 22:48

Hi Everyone,
My ds has offers for Leeds and Bath for Natural Sciences and is waiting for Durham and UCL. He has grades in hand so 2 unconditional offers. He had a pre interview rejection from Cambridge, not surprising really as it was a long shot and a last minute decision to apply.
Good luck to everyone and hopefully everyone will hear very soon.

QueenMabby · 23/01/2024 08:03

@listsandbudgets - dh and I both have law degrees. Ds wants to do physics and his younger sibling's favourite subject is chemistry! Where did we go wrong???! 🤣🤣

reegee · 23/01/2024 09:15

I've read a few posts about offer holders open days - some seem to be in Feb.
My question is, will most students get their offer in time to attend the offer holders open day?
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but my DS submitted his UCAS form w/c 8/1/24 and has yet to receive any offers or rejections. Based on his predictions he should get some offers at least. His selections are bath, Bristol, Birmingham, Warwick, Exeter and subject is maths.
Does anyone have recent offers from these unis please?

mumphrey · 23/01/2024 09:24

Hi
Has anyone got or heard of offers for business/management from Loughborough or Bath or Exeter? DS has had them from Nottingham and Warwick but they are the least preferred of the five. Or an idea of when they might be sent out. Appreciate deadline hasn't passed yet. Thank you!

Lightsabre · 23/01/2024 10:23

@reegee, ds friend is still waiting on an offer for Bath for maths. She has been offered Warwick already but was an early entrant ie submitted prior to mid October.

My DS sent his off at the beginning of December and has only had 1 offer.

His subject is computer science so very competitive and he has chosen 3 aspirational schools - Bath, St Andrews and Durham. An offer for any of those is a long shot and only has two safeties (York & Southampton).

I think he regrets not taking FM as it will make his application less competitive to his top choices. A gap year doing FM is likely on the cards here.

Comefromaway · 22/01/2024 20:50

Sport & Exercise Science

That would be like a nightmare come true for me Grin

Good luck to her though, I really hope she gets to LJMU and loves it not least because Liverpool is a fabulous city

WombatChocolate · 23/01/2024 16:36

For those who’ve applied since Jan, I guess there is a big rush of applications in these final weeks. I’d imagine a lot also go through in the next few days. It’s likely that some places have a big backlog to get through which might mean offers don’t come so quickly.

Plus, lots of people who applied in Sept/early Oct still haven’t heard from some of the popular courses who often don’t send the bulk of their offers until Feb/March and are still offering in April.

It’s a funny old system isn’t it - some places offer within 24 hours and others take 7 months!

Yes, a very funny system and very 😖!

@QueenMabby I understand Patent Law is extremely lucrative and a scientific background is a must in some areas. There's still hope to convert them later Grin

If you’d have told me that my sport hating daughter would end up studying the subject I’d have laughed at you.

She didn’t even do school PE after year 6 although she did go to the gym and do strength/weight training.

she did always have an interest in physio type things though.

MirandaWest · 23/01/2024 20:27

DD got an offer for History and Spanish from Durham today. Doesn’t want to go there though!

(Now the only one she’s waiting for is Edinburgh).
