Is anyone starting the journey of drama school auditions and starting to feel the stress? Maybe sending them to drama group was a big mistake lol.

@arbm @71deedee
Quite a few of the DC going to EmilDale! How exciting!
Yes there doesn't seem to be an abundance of rental properties in Letchworth 😬😂

Newgirls · 02/05/2024 16:54

Is everyone sorted now? Any schools still making their minds up?

Those waiting for news from Royal Central, my son was in this position last year. He had his final recall in early Feb and did not hear until well into May that he was on the reserve list. The longer it goes without UCAS updating, I would say the greater the chances your DC is still being considered. If you start to hear of others being offered places, however, I'd say it's possible your DC is on a reserve list. If that's the case, at some point Central will email and tell your DC that, and UCAS will then update to rejected. But I hope it's still the case that decisions are being made and your DC receive an offer!

Similar for my son & final round central MT two years ago. He was told it would be quick and in the end waited ages. (Didn’t get in - but is very happily doing Acting elsewhere).

Anyone auditioned for Oxford School of Drama?

That's where my dd went.

Did she like it? My DD is on a wait list

UsualChaos · 03/05/2024 15:20

@Operagirl1 Oh well done to your dd! It's pretty competitive there, so well done and good luck. She did like it. She liked the fact that it's so small so you get a lot of individual attention. The setting is lovely which really helps as it's a very demanding course, as they often are. Lots of use is made of the surrounding countryside which she liked, coming from a rural area herself.
She found it a bit classical-heavy at times but that's a matter of taste. I don't know if yours sings but the voice training is very good. They also encourage you to create your own work and there are opportunities to get involved in all aspects of production during shows.
Second year is particularly tough as they throw loads at them then.
Doing the third term of third year in London is really good too and works nicely as a transition.
We knew nothing about OSD but are really pleased she went there. I'm sure it will be enjoying its moment in the sun after Baby Reindeer!

Has anyone had their NYT result yet? They are due out today

Newgirls · 08/05/2024 22:11

The summer intake course? My dd did it last year. Hope you get good news.

Hi, we waited all day and didn't hear anything at all. It was supposed to be 'results day' for all those who had been recalled. I heard of people getting accepted and rejected but my dd heard nothing

Newgirls · 09/05/2024 07:47

Ok some of dds friends heard yesterday so it might be related to location. The courses are London, Bristol etc?

Newgirls · 09/05/2024 07:47

And I guess you checked spam etc?

I’ve seen on the Student Room that quite a few are still waiting to hear. Results are still coming out this morning apparently. If you don’t hear soon I would contact NYT.

Yes checked everything over and over and nothing

Does anyone know if there is any flexibility over recall dates at OSD?

DS has been invited for a second recall, but has been given a single date/ time and of course it clashes with one of two dates in the next month when he is a lead role in a show!

He's emailed to ask if there are possibly any alternatives (explaining why) but no reply so far and today was the deadline to reply ("to tell us if you can make it")
Now he's worried it's an all or nothing situation!

With recalls it always depends if they have any other dates. One of DD's friends got told when asked a different school - 'if you really want to come here you'll be at this recall'.

Thankfully they came back with a different date and he was able to juggle some things to make it! Phew!

DD was invited to a recall at MV .. on the day of an A level exam. We were told “sorry but we aren’t changing it”. I was surprised any post 18 establishment has recalls during A levels .

The majority of MV students are considerable older than 18 when they starts MV is well known for preferring more mature candidates.
