Exactly Revengeofthepangolins. In subjects where interviews at two colleges are standard, such as Medicine etc, the two sets of interviews are stand alone. Then, if both colleges would offer, the college of choice/ allocation has first refusal. If the college of choice doesn't intend to offer, the second college can still offer. Interview scores are looked at in the round though, with notes between the two colleges shared.

Very different where applicants are pooled.

Thanks, that makes sense. Yes, it is a subject where everyone is interviewed by two colleges.
I thought it was odd that the 'second' interview (ie not the college that she applied to) was happening first (don't know details of 'first' interview yet but 'second' one is 10am on day 1 of the interview timetable). But if they are entirely independent then the order doesn't matter.

Revengeofthepangolins · 27/11/2023 14:54

Yes, nothing to be read into order. For single college subjects being called to another college in the second week does have implication (although some noise around the edges), but not for double.

Good luck to your dc

@catmomof3 My DC has been advised of just one unseen piece, are your daughter’s interviews both with the same college? Just trying to work out if it’s college variation.

My daughter's email said two pieces of unseen and her interviews are at the same college, one in the morning with 2 tutors and one in the afternoon with the other 2.

DS still hasn't heard from O re maths but fingers crossed he hears later today or this week

DS has an HP gaming laptop he uses for his college work and an iPad

DD has a MacBook Air she got this year for starting Yr 12 and moving on to uni eventually
She has an iPad and a stylus she uses for art stuff

DS didn't want a MacBook and was weirdly specific re size, colour etc of a laptop Halloween Confused thankfully JL had one he was happy to go with

Their iPads are a few years old now but luckily ok to use the stylus on

Mirrormeback · 27/11/2023 15:36

@SnoopDogisamenace thanks it's good to know they're coming through finally

tpa · 27/11/2023 16:20

school friend of my dc got Oxford maths interview through this afternoon.

bluetides · 27/11/2023 16:25

My son has an engineering interview, a big relief as he thought the PAT didn’t go that well.

losingtheplot999 · 27/11/2023 16:29

DS2 has had an emailed from C to say he will get an interview but has not been given any date.

Redhotchillipeppers · 27/11/2023 17:17

DS passed his driving test this afternoon. I’m glad it was a positive result. Wouldn’t have been good to have that hanging over him for his interview next week. Had to wait 20 weeks to get a test slot adding to cost of lessons.

RIPMatthewperry · 27/11/2023 17:26

Just received an invite to interview at o, glad the waiting is over…! One very happy child 🥰

Ooh we're waiting for engineering too 🤞Congrats to your son

Redhotchillipeppers · 27/11/2023 17:30

Congratulations to everyone receiving interviews.

Interview date for dd confirmed - 7th December. Two interviews, school sorting tech.

Panicmode1 · 27/11/2023 18:13

My godson has just found out he has an Oxford maths interview.

Mirrormeback · 27/11/2023 18:17

DS is maths and another subject I'll get him to check again

Mirrormeback · 27/11/2023 18:21

No still nothing

catmomof3 · 27/11/2023 18:25

My dd is doing her interviews in the assistant heads office and the rest of this week at lunchtime she is doing interview practice with her head of English. Think it's finally hit her. She can't talk about it much to her friends anymore as one of them got rejected for Maths today and is really upset. She also feels guilty that she got an interview and they didn't.

Teriyakieverything · 27/11/2023 18:28

Gosh, regarding online interview tech, they must have changed it this year.

DD did her NatSci online interview last year, and the set up was basically her laptop with a camera so they could see her face, and instead of a stylus/tablet set up, she used her phone camera stacked on top of a tin of coconut milk (it's just what we found in our cupboard..) so that they could see what she was writing on a piece of paper on her desk. I remember this well, as we had to test the lighting to make sure that the room lamp wasn't casting a shadow over her work, then I asked her to rotate the tin so that the interviewers do not get distracted by the M&S label....we didn't have a stylus/tablet set up. There are pros and cons to online and in person interviews, but the tech does make it more stressful.

All the very best to all the DCs with their upcoming interviews.

mammatilly · 27/11/2023 18:35

Oxford interview for maths just received - fantastic news

MirandaWest · 27/11/2023 18:58

Seems like most of DDs friends who’ve applied for either Oxford or Cambridge have received Interviews. Think theres only a few who haven’t heard yet.

Gonegrey1967 · 27/11/2023 10:55

Hello!
my YP has just got an interview for NatSci next week. Bang on a week’s notice. Eek!

can I ask a question about tablet. Grandparents and I want to get them one but not sure difference between iPad Pro and iPad Air. Want to get one asap now for the interview

Don’t want to go overboard but equally don’t want to save a few pounds and then regret it. View is that wherever they go that an iPad and keyboard would be useful at uni?

does anyone have a YP that does NatSci or science based degree and think that iPad Pro is worth the extra money?

we would be getting a refurbished one but a reasonably recent version

thanks and well done to everyone who has interviews so far and fingers crossed for the rest.

My kid has done their first term (almost) of NatSci. Has used an iPad Air and keyboard since Y12/13. Finds it incredibly useful and worth every penny.

Lightsabre · 27/11/2023 20:06

Great to hear of more interview invites rolling in, best of luck prepping. Also sorry to hear of those with no interview invite, very disappointing for the dc involved.

Nobody who sat the MAT or PAT at my DCs college had heard either way by the end of the day today. Hoping the wait is over soon!!

BiancaBlank · 27/11/2023 21:12

DD’s had her interview times through for Oxford, and the email says to click ‘accept’ to show she’s coming. But there isn’t anything like that in the email to click on! Is it our email server?

Go to the email via the browser website, my DD had this issue when looking on her iPhone.
