Every DC treats the interview differently. I suggested DC to go through the admission sample quizs but DC reluctant to do it. Only one week away from the interview, I don't want to add the pressure. Hope everything goes well then.

lifeturnsonadime · 25/11/2023 22:51

My DC doesn't seem phased at all, he went to his girlfriends last night as he always does on a Friday and he's come back and focused on history coursework today.

Apparently next week college are doing mock interviews. He's going to look back over his PS and written work but he's not worried.

I'm just going to let him get on with it, he's currently having a laugh with his friends on the PS5. what will be will be!

The most important advice DD received before her Cambridge interview -
stay calm and do not be fazed by weird questions.

Silkiefloof · 26/11/2023 00:03

I said to DD something about her O email invite and she said I didn't read the whole email I just got to you have an interview (and then got very excited). I said but you did fill in the survey to say you are going? Nope, I didn't see any survey. Then they put that at the end 😂All sorted now.

Still waiting to hear about History and French here. Hope dd hears by Monday so if she has one she can attend the interview workshop.
Durham is only other one waiting for but she seems to have decided that she would rather one of closer ones. Offers from York, Nottingham and Leeds so far with York favourite of them.

According to St Hilda's (posted link earlier) they have sent invitations for History, HisPol and HisEc but none of the other History joint schools and nothing else will be sent until Monday.

mondaytosunday · 26/11/2023 09:19

Oh good heads up @Silkiefloof! My dd still waiting for confirmation on day and time but I do remember when she got asked for an interview for her current course she forgot to confirm until the day before 🙄🙄!

stoneysongs · 26/11/2023 09:32

DD sent her form off straight away but filled it in wrong 🤦‍♀️

Norma27 · 27/11/2023 07:33

Dd has interview for History and French. Email did come through yesterday apparently but dd only just saw it.

catmomof3 · 27/11/2023 07:57

Congrats @Norma27 that's great news!

Good luck to those waiting on interview invites this week😃

Norma27 · 27/11/2023 08:08

Thank you @catmomof3
In time to accept the interview workshop too!
Good luck to everyone else still waiting.

mondaytosunday · 27/11/2023 08:51

Good news @Norma27!
Dd has her written assessment in 40 minutes! Invigilated from Cambridge online. The email said 'everyone in UK, Africa, Europe will attend the morning assessment....'. It's college specific - only a couple others require it for her course.
My main job is to wrangle all animals (two dogs, two noisy cats) downstairs and keep them quiet!

Revengeofthepangolins · 27/11/2023 08:52

Good luck to her

Lightsabre · 27/11/2023 08:58

Congratulations @Norma27 and best of luck to your dd @mondaytosunday.

Ds interviews are next Monday, looks like he's the first one in too. He's getting a bit anxious about the tech as he has a Pc and needs a touch screen device and stylus. He's emailed school to see if they can supply one asap so he can practice.

@mondaytosunday good luck to your DC; i am on strict ‘take the dog out’ duty next week for interviews!

lifeturnsonadime · 27/11/2023 09:17

I'm relieved that school are hosting the online interviews as I had to take the dogs for long walks when DS was doing his GCSEs but at least that was in the summer, not so much fun when it's cold and potentially wet too!

Good luck to all DC with interviews and tests coming up!

Norma27 · 27/11/2023 09:18

Good luck to your daughter @mondaytosunday

Rollergirl11 · 27/11/2023 09:21

Good luck to your DD @mondaytosunday. Is she using Moodle to do the online assessment? That’s what DD did hers on last week.

Wolvesart · 27/11/2023 09:23

The anxiety to hear about Oxford interview is getting unbearable here. English seems to be quite late with notifications

My dd got an email inviting her to an English interview on Friday, I'm assuming some colleges will take longer than others sending out invites. Hopefully you will hear soon.

mondaytosunday · 27/11/2023 10:05

@Rollergirl11 I don't think so, but have no idea really. She hasn't run down in a panic though! However her generation are far more savvy when it comes to tech - I do get a lot of eye rolling when I find a new feature on my computer or phone!
She has another mock interview this afternoon (and just to say, when I said the last one didn't go well, that may well have been her catastrophising - she is the type to come away from an exam saying it was a disaster then getting an A). Also finds out if she got accepted on the work experience to Portugal next year! I'm praying to all the gods...

Pleasealexa · 27/11/2023 10:08

@Lightsabre has the college offered paper options? I thought they were keen to level the field and not assume access to tech.

The invite for interview contained lots of "what to do if tech fails" but actually not that reassuring given all the stuff that could go wrong. I'm wfh today and my broadband decided to fail.

Pleasealexa · 27/11/2023 10:10

@Wolvesart seems interviews are still being sent out.

losingtheplot999 · 27/11/2023 10:11

It seems as if Oxford interview's are coming out a lot quicker than Cambridge. DS2 still waiting to hear back from Cambridge for medicine.

stoneysongs · 27/11/2023 10:19

We are also making pet plans for interview days - think DH will take the dog out, I will stay at home in case of wifi failure and try to make my lap alluring to the cat so that she goes to sleep instead of strolling around on the desk in front of the camera.

We have managed to hook up with an Oxford graduate in DD's subject who is going to give her a mock interview and some tips later this week. Other than that she has subject tests all over the place at the moment but I think I have persuaded her that she should forget about them and concentrate on interview prep for now. It will all be over in a couple of weeks!

The saga of dropping the EPQ rumbles on - latest suggestion (because I said she needed to focus on A levels from Jan) was that she could do most of it before the end of this term 🤪

I am dealing with someone a few steps higher up the food chain now but still awaiting a decision.

Headingto18 · 27/11/2023 10:29

DD’s first interviewing college (she has two) has sent out an invite to a prep session this week to everyone with interviews with them; very much appreciated by DD
