Huge congrats to her! What college? DD applied for pure Spanish and is still waiting..... she is getting slightly angsty about it now and just hoping for any response!

Well done to all of the offers of interview over the last few days.

My, this part is stressful isn't it?

DS is still waiting on history. One of my DN's got an interview for PPE through yesterday and one of DS's friends got an interview for classics earlier. I just think he'd like to know either way at this point, but it could be a while yet going by last year's spread of history decisions.

Yes life its hard to know, from what I can see in DDs subject no interview offers are out yet and the timing of interviews relative to PPE might suggest tomorrow they start coming out. I saw from last year some even got interview offers 48 hours in advance, must be rare but shows until you have heard no you are still in the game. And your DS is doing so well to get back on track life

Congratulations to all those who have secured interviews. (and I'm so sorry for those DC who haven't been successful). Still no response to DS, but I'm not surprised as he has applied for Maths and the MAT2 was only last week.

DD3 heard about Oxford interview today (history). She’s dreading it. I think she was half hoping they’d turn her down before this! Two practice interviews lined up next week, so hope that will boost her confidence.

DS2 had his mock interview today - his school has arranged a candidate swap with another local school.

Was at least a useful chance to check where he plans to do it, sensible backdrop, and what to wear (cue conversation on the very elevated level of "back off, mummy, it doesn't matter what I wear" in a Kevin the teenager voice. "As you presumably aren't planning to do it naked, can we please sort it now so you don't 30 mins before the real thing start querying the whereabouts of something that turns out to be in wash" said in my best testy Karen voice).

Happily my rather eeyore-like worry that he would come bouncing out of the mock only to find he had been rejected while doing it didn't come to pass, so back to waiting for news.

Thanks Silkie I'm feeling quite stressed about how he will be if this doesn't work out and I"m trying not to let him see I'm stressed! In the meantime I think he is fine, he's quite happy with his plan B of a London uni! Because he had such a blip when he was younger I always have in the back of my mind that this could happen again, which it could, but he has such great strategies now and doesn't seem phased by too much thank goodness!

How is your son doing at the moment? I know it is a long road because we've walked it and my heart really does go out to you and your lovely boy, baby steps as you know, and with your strength he will get better, it just takes a long time x

Can I just check, am I right in thinking that biology invites came out a few days ago?

The interviews seem to be being released more by subject than college

We're waiting for engineering at Oxford. It's a tense time, more so for me than DS I think.
I'm being super restrained and never ask him if he's checked his emails, but I find doing so really hard!

DS was notified that he has an interview for Engineering at C today. Huge relief, he’s been super tense waiting for news.

From the TSR spreadsheet it looks like lots of biology decisions have been made, but not all, there are people still waiting for Hertford for example.

Thanks Life Hopefully your DSs interview offer will be through soon. If not hopefully he will be fine with plan B though London unis make me nervous with noise / cost etc though have great records for employment. I think if he does take it badly and his grades then go on to be much better it might be worth considering a year out and reapplying if he could manage employment for a year. Though maths aren't keen on a year out but things like economics or engineering I think would be fine with that and some experience could be useful. I was given a year out and it was actually useful in the end to see some other countries and get some work experience. I was with a boy who got rejected first time and said he took it so badly he spent a year in his room but applied again and got in. Hopefully he will be happy straight away. I hope DD gets to Oxford but I know DD will be fine anywhere. She also looked up my old professor and he did his degree at LSE. DD seems very chilled about everything so am leaving her and not asking questions. I am sure we will be told when something needs paying. 😃

DS is still very bad due to the hospital meds going wrong in Sept 22 and he's not recovered yet other than he can now walk again, see again and eat OK again but no speech, no writing and mainly in a catatonic stupor so its like his body is back but not him and they don't know at the moment what to do. We just have to keep trying things and hope one day one of them will work but its literally been about 10 times since Sept 22 for about 30 secs each when we've been able to reach him when we got very slight eye movement and no professional has had any success. He is thankfully fine with us going out swimming or for half a day as long as we leave food so we can have breaks at least, he tends to take baths then, on Tuesday he used 3 of my shower gels and about a whole bottle, one said mood enhancing Radox and appeared to have used a hairbrush (at least it was wet) so maybe mood enhancing Radox is the answer. 😂We had an IT assessment for him today and they are giving him an ipad and itunes voucher in January.

That's interesting Stoney The thread I looked at for E&M it was offers for PPE, no idea why people were posting them on E&M. Though saw another thread that reckons there is one on Reddit. I have no idea how to use Reddit. DD has been sleeping all day so would likely be unaware of any decision anyway. 😂I don't want to make her anxious by asking so will leave it until she says something. I will go off swimming now.

Yes of course Life absolutely fine. I am off swimming now so may not reply until tomorrow but fine to PM.

Actually DH says he's too tired and we will go swimming tomorrow. Still no light in DDs room though I expect most have not heard still but with an 18% interview rate hard to know.

Seems like there are more who haven't heard than have iykwim. It's just a couple of responses on TSR anyway.

DS is still waiting to hear from O for Physics. One of his friends has just messaged to say he’s got an interview at O for Classics. Not long to wait now. He got an interview date through yesterday for Manchester in January, which was unexpected. He’s not stressing as he has his offers from Liverpool and Birmingham. He received a lovely letter from the Physics department at Birmingham this week referencing lots of stuff in his PS and his interest in quantum physics and mentioning if he gets his 2 A stars and A there’s an automatic grant of £1000. I joked that they were love bombing him.

DD had a really bizarre offer before of £500 if she went to a different sixth form, very strange as both state and you wouldn't have thought they had money to spare. She rejected it. Though think she would love one of the LSE offers with money but they must be rarer than gold dust.
