Dd still not heard from Edinburgh for biology

Where else has he applied to, @SeaDee ? DS2 thinking of applying to Bath for next UCAS round.

Dd has decided Bath is her favourite based mainly on the hotness of the male students compared to Durham and the unis we have seen!

It must be different departments that offer late, dd has had an offer for Bristol (History) since before Christmas, it came through within a few weeks of her application (but still waiting for Edinburgh).

My ds has offers for Birmingham Southampton Loughborough and Nottingham. Still waiting for Bath

My son was rejected by Bath a few weeks back for Computer Science so for those who have not heard that might be a good sign that they made the first cut! His predicted grades are A A and A*

Sorry to hear about you son. There really is no rhyme or reason. We know someone who has rejections from oxbridge and Durham and they’ve had to see some of their peers at school get places for the very same course - it’s tough on the kids, particularly when a lot seem to have the same grades. With my rational hat on I know that sometimes these things happen for a reason and it’s real life, but it’s hard on the kids when some need motivating right now. Hopefully your son has some other good choices too! 🤞

Bristol were luckily very fast with a Physics offer within 48 hours back in November which was a nice boost

St Andrews offer came in just after Christmas and yesterday the Offer Holders day was great- staff and students were both very friendly and welcoming

Durham and Edinburgh took a bit longer but both offers are now in

Now they have to choose which to firm/insure: glad it’s not my decision tbh as each has their strengths

The waiting part is really tough, I made countless cups of tea and positive comments to try to help

For which course, may I ask..? DD is still waiting on UCL, Kings AND Imperial for social/political science/international relations -type courses. Had a rejection from Cambridge, and an offer from Durham, but that's it so far.

DS is still waiting on Durham for English.
He has had offers from York, Bristol, Manchester and Sheffield. He's really set his heart on Durham though with York as an insurance.

Mine got an offer from UCL this weekend(for maths), so just waiting on Bristol. She's 'on hold' for Bristol, which I think means she didn't make the first cut, so she's got to wait for people to reject their offers. She still hasn't actually got a clue what she wants to do though, so might take a year out.

DD got an English offer from Durham end of last last week but as it was the same as her top choice is not putting them down, so offers for English from Durham that are non-contextual are starting to trickle through. Good luck to your DS. DD has insured York.

Thank you! Hopefully he won't have to wait too long for a decision now. He was really impressed with York though so hopefully not too disappointed if he doesn't get an offer. Out of interest where is your DD's first choice ?

DD was fortunate to get an offer from Cambridge, just has to meet the grades…if she doesn’t get it she loved York and it has a great English syllabus.

Waves at @CurlyhairedAssassin - so pleased your DS is seemingly as happy as mine is at C! Haven't seen you on the other thread so was wondering how he's getting on.

DD is fed up with waiting for Exeter and Bristol - she's not really that bothered about the latter because there have been too many accommodation horror stories, but would love to hear from Exeter....all VERY different from last year when all DS offers were in, he'd firmed C, was focussed and on track.

He has offers from Southampton and Cardiff - he knows someone doing Comp Sci at Southampton so is leaning that way so far. He has taken a stab in the dark because we didn’t do any open days 🙄.

My DS has autism and wouldn't apply to Oxbridge. I think he finds the thought of it too stressful - imposter syndrome 🙈😌

DD is neurodiverse too and finds it just the right fit as there are lots of her type at Oxbridge evidenced by open days, offers days etc. DD felt that it is almost the scenario that if you are not neurodiverse you are in the minority. I wouldn’t rule out Oxbridge just due to autism.
