Dd still not heard from Edinburgh for biology

Had an Edinburgh offer yesterday, waiting on Glasgow School of Art.

My daughter got an email from UAL (she already got an application/portfolio acknowledgment weeks ago) saying that while she's waiting to hear from them here's another promotion about how great their course is! Like she's already applied they don't need to push it, she just wants a decision! Plus if they go on to reject her it will be even worse.

Ditto my son for Durham history. Didn’t get offer til May despite applying in early Oct.

Still waiting on Bristol & UCL for maths/data science respectively. She's 'on hold' for Bristol, and UCL just say they haven't finished looking through the applications. Offers from Bath & York, rejection from Oxford. She's having a wobble about whether she's made the right subject choice though, so might take a year out.

Can I ask please, where do you look on Student Room to see who is getting offers and what offers they receive related to predicted grades? Thanks.

@WombatChocolate - go to 'Forums - Universities and HE Colleges' where there's a list of all universities.

Select the one you're interested in and you'll find a thread with a title like "Durham University 2023 Applicants" for example.

Within there, there's usually a link to an offers spreadsheet on the 1st page. The threads themselves will have all the posts about who's waiting for offers, who's got one etc.

Bear in mind that the data in these spreadsheets and the posts is a very, very small subset of those who apply and, from experience, those DC who tend to post are those with the very high predictions - ie it's not necessarily the most representative data sets

Which universities are you looking for and I'll see if I can find them for you?

I only know that they exist for the places my DS is looking at so can't guarantee they're available for everywhere.

DD is waiting on Architecture offers from Edinburgh, Liverpool & Ual.
Given that she's got offers from UCL & Manchester - both highly rated - I think she's not too upset. I'm disappointed by Liverpool as this was my old uni. They've had administrative issues apparently. Not impressive!

My DS is still waiting for those 2 - the Durham spreadsheet is relatively active, the Exeter one not so much.

We are still waiting (all 9s, 4 x AStar predictions, waiting since October! At what point do you just say this isn’t happening and let it go?)

@Waythroughwoods I agree entirely, but Durham was always her no 1 choice (well until she decided to attempt Oxford, but that ended in a thanks but no thanks), so she was in it for the long haul. If your DC is happy with other offers, then why wait?

Loughborough for Sports Science. Got the other offers really quickly (within a week) back at the end of October so this has been a very long wait. It’s his First Choice so he does just need to wait but it’s very stressful.

Only 7 weeks left until cutoff day - can't come soon enough at this point in the process 😭

I have to say I hadn't anticipated that they might be mid exam period by the time offers came through.

Yes - just one of many aspects of the Admissions process that needs changing.

Cutoff date for decisions should be mid April - to give a good break between this madness and exams starting.

Universities should also have to make an explicit decision on an application. Too much anecdotal evidence on TSR/MN of certain universities who never respond with a decision.

DD got her final offer from Durham yesterday but as the grades required were the same as her favourite she has rejected Durham and submitted her firm of Cambridge and insurance of York last night. I think we all slept quite well last night, didn’t realise what a relief it would be knowing it was submitted!
