History at Edinburgh, still waiting............

Peace44 · 31/03/2023 11:35

Got 4 offers including Durham but still waiting for Edinburgh- history of art.. he pretty sure will be a rejection but just wants to know now!

Catspyjamas17 · 31/03/2023 13:18

Edinburgh - Architecture also @Cantonet They are quite slow for some subjects I think, very over subscribed and a lot of international students do architecture there.

DD1 has offers from Cardiff, Manchester, UCA Canterbury. Sheffield offered urban planning instead. Cardiff is the favourite so far, UCA for insurance. If she gets an offer from Edinburgh there will be a dilemma.

user18 · 31/03/2023 13:49

still waiting on St Andrews (although they have sent out lots of responses over the past few days according to the TSR spreadsheet)

bguthb90 · 31/03/2023 14:09

Exeter offer just received. Happy that they kept to their 31st March deadline. Appreciate that won't be the same for everyone.

Just waiting for Durham and Edinburgh now, although really just waiting for Durham

user18 · 31/03/2023 15:37

DS is about to get a decision from St Andrews (their portal status changes just as a decision is about to be released) which means that he's likely to have been rejected. Its a shame but he loves Exeter so he'll be happy there.

BackToWhereItAllBegan · 31/03/2023 15:47

DS is still waiting on Durham. Had offers from Oxford, LSE, Imperial and St Andrew's for months now. I don't quite understand how Durham can be so far behind the other universities!

mrsconradfisher · 31/03/2023 16:38

I honestly think DS is about to give up on Loughborough, it was a long shot anyway as they want A star AA and DS is predicted AAA (his school never predict A stars). He is tempted to reject them all and spend Easter looking for something else and applying through Extra. He cannot have this hanging over him when he starts his exams and if he leaves it much longer there won’t be any time to try Extra. He is also refusing to apply to Student Finance until he has a yes/no from Loughborough so we are still in this weird limbo. His other offers came in very quickly so he has now been waiting over 4 months for this 1 offer. Honestly it’s doing my head in let alone his.

bguthb90 · 31/03/2023 16:53

@mrsconradfisher if he has 4 other offers, he can apply to Extra if he declines all 4 of those. Are none of them appealing / suitable ?

Yes I know, he has to decline all those first. He has 3 other offers, he is waiting for 2 from Loughborough. Only 1 of the other offers he is considering (Surrey), the other 2 are complete no go’s from the Offer Holder Days (Birmingham and UEA).

Lordofmyflies · 31/03/2023 18:05

Just waiting on Durham. Exeter offer came through today.

kidstaxidriver · 01/04/2023 09:42

In a v similar position Mrsconradfisher - the wait is excruciating. I am worried no response means more likely rejection. However we similarly heard from 3 unis before Christmas and now nothing at all - hard when it’s their first choice they’ve not heard from as it’s unsettling

StressedaboutUni · 01/04/2023 13:15

Still waiting for LSE and Warwick for Econ here. They are taking a while as DC applied back in October.

He randomly got an email from Loughborough last night offering him a place on the second course he applied for but not the one he actually wants. It was done in sheer desperation to get there but in hindsight it’s not what he wants to do. He wants pure Sports Science and so far he has been offered Spirts Science, PE and Coaching but the actual Science element is tiny. So now the choice is wait to see if he gets offered the one he wants, do the course he doesn’t really want but in the place that he wants or try his “insurance” choice.
Nothing is showing on UCAS though which is weird. Honestly I’m so so fed up of it all. My Mum passed away at Christmas and it’s just been 3 months of stress, I just want it sorted now.

DeadbeatYoda · 01/04/2023 17:12

Only Durham now.

DeadbeatYoda · 01/04/2023 17:13

Only received UCL offer on 22 March though

Panicmode1 · 01/04/2023 17:18

DD is waiting on Exeter and Bristol...I'm assuming that they will be negatives if she hasn't heard by now (mixed honours courses so wondering if that is why it's taken SO long), but it's so cruel to leave them hanging this close to the exams. She has 3 other good offers, but DH and I both went to Exeter so I was sort of hoping she may get an offer....!

CurlyhairedAssassin · 01/04/2023 17:26

I really wonder why some of them keep everyone on hold so long. This time last year DS got fed up of waiting for Bristol. He had 4 A star predicted, a really strong application and a 4 A star offer from Cambridge and Imperial (in fact he also had a scholarship offer from Imperial). I suggested to him that Bristol didn't value his application as much as the others did as they would have snapped him up early on if they did. He is very driven and just wanted to get on with things and have everything in place so he could focus on his exams. He agreed with me and withdrew from Bristol and he's now happily at Cambridge, having put Southampton as his insurance and not Bristol (Imperial had been the same offer as Cambridge so would have been too much of a gamble as an insurance). Bristol's loss, but I guess they had enough good students they could take their pick of regardless. I respected Southampton much more for getting in there quickly, and had things gone wrong in the summer exams that's where he would have been going.

Scoobyblue · 01/04/2023 18:06

Still waiting for Edinburgh and Bristol here. Very frustrating.

GMH1974 · 01/04/2023 18:33

Bath still here.

redrobin75 · 01/04/2023 19:17

@GMH1974 , what course at Bath? My dd is waiting on Psychology placement, I hope we hear next week.

SeaDee · 01/04/2023 19:43

Bath - computer science

He's got all his other offers but is keen to hear from Bath

kidstaxidriver · 01/04/2023 19:49

So tricky to be offered a place at your Uni of choice but not the course. Fingers crossed for the sports science to come through with positive news. I’m just worried the longer the wait, the more likely the chance of rejection. We know one pupil who’s been offered a place at Lboro already on the same course and has also been to the applicant visit day despite submitting weeks later. DS was expecting no response from Bath for weeks having been emailed to say it was a popular course and that the decision would be made by April. However they’ve surprised him by already giving an offer, and so we can’t complain as this would comfortably be DS first or second choice, but not knowing about Lboro is really tricky when DS applied in October and the applicant visit days come and go………….

Is your DS waiting on Sports Science too? Or another course at Loughborough.

kidstaxidriver · 01/04/2023 20:15

No another course, sports management
