Thanks @mumsneedwine

Exams seemed to go OK but we'll find out in August! He seemed to work harder than ever - like he had a point to prove! He's getting started on UCAT next - it really is relentless!

mumsneedwine · 21/06/2023 21:49

@IGoWalkingAfterMidnight once UCAT done he can focus on choosing Unis. And apply without the stress of worrying about grades. Once he's got those interviews he can go travel and have some fun😊

opoponax · 23/06/2023 19:46

Has everyone's DC finished their exams now? DD had her last one today. Let the summer begin for all of us. It has been a long year. Wishing all the best for results day. Thanks to you all for sharing the journey.

Hi @opoponax my DD finished today. She had 4 this week and she’s just pleased to have reached the end I think. We’re off on holiday tomorrow, a week on a beautiful Greek island and a chance to relax.

This thread has been invaluable over the last 12 months. Thank you all so much. I will pop over to the next cohorts thread soon to pay it forward.

Wishing all the DC a long happy summer and great results in August. 🙂

howdoipullmyselftogether · 23/06/2023 20:53

Yup, chemistry this morning and all done now. Just a DofE expedition postponed from last year then she will be truly done!

Unexpecteddrivinginstructor · 23/06/2023 23:15

Yes, just a nervous couple of months to wait 🤞 they all get the grades that they need.

Africa2go · 23/06/2023 23:46

I can't thank the contributors on this thread enough. Today is a celebration- both DD and her twin done!! Thank you again and wishing everyone well for 17 Aug!!

Cathpot · 24/06/2023 08:12

The relief yesterday of having it all done was amazing. DD off on holiday this evening and is in no way ready, so there will be some slightly frantic packing today! Thank you everyone for all the amazing advice, particularly at the start with choosing the unis to apply for, that was so helpful. Wishing everyone a lovely summer and happy results day.

mumsneedwine · 24/06/2023 12:22

Well done all your lovely DCs. I had my traditional cry as I said goodbye to year 13 yesterday - always emotional as I've known some of them for 7 years.
Enjoy your summers.

opoponax · 24/06/2023 13:44

Thank you for all your help @mumsneedwine and also to the wonderful @Monkey2001. Wishing everyone a great summer ahead and hope all the DC get a chance to enjoy just being carefree teenagers for a while.

It has been our pleasure. About to go to my DDs graduation on 19th and I know I'll cry at that too 😊.

opoponax · 24/06/2023 13:49

Hope your DD has a fantastic graduation and great travels and wishing her all the best in F1.

Have the best summer too @mumsneedwine and @Monkey2001 . So many people have offers on here directly because of you. Thank you so so much.

Totally agree, your advice has been invaluable.

mumsneedwine · 24/06/2023 19:08

😊 I'm off for a large 🥂. Will be having another one with you on results day.

Cratos · 25/06/2023 10:21

My DS finished his exams on Friday as well. Now we can relax a bit. Hope they will all achieve the results they need. This thread has provided amazing support and advice during this very difficult time. We are grateful for all the help. Thank you very much to all our experts and to all experienced parents. Thank you to all other parents as well for asking the important questions and sharing their experiences.

this thread has been an amazing support, especially @mumsneedwine and @Monkey2001 taking the time to provide all their knowledge. We are very very grateful.

Monkey2001 · 27/06/2023 12:30

You are all welcome, getting into Medicine is ridiculously complicated and I am happy to share the knowledge I have picked up in navigating the maze. I hope you are not cursing us in a few years because the people on Reddit Junior Doctors were right! Your DC are lovely people who want to help others, just hope there is a re-calibration of how they are valued by the rest of the UK and how they are treated by the NHS.

I honestly think that anyone who misses the grades or has not been successful this year should look very closely at the option of Physician Associate or Physiologist leading to ACP. I think the roles are more life-friendly, may in future lead to equivalent jobs and for many the net earnings will be more after all the student loan payments!

BungledBundle · 02/07/2023 14:34

A very late thank you to all the wonderful posters on this thread, particularly @mumsneedwine and @Monkey2001 for all the help and time you have given us. It really has been invaluable; thank you for your altruism, knowledge and kindness.

I hope everyone has a great summer and am also thinking particularly of the wonderful-sounding boys who just missed offers and keeping everything crossed that they find their gap-years fulfilling and are successful next year.

mumsneedwine · 02/07/2023 18:23

😊 it really is a pleasure. And for those with out offers don't give up. I got 2 in on results day last year - happens most years we get an extra offer. I'll do my best to release any knowledge on the day but keep an eye on TSR too.

Africa2go · 06/07/2023 09:31

Quick q - chat on WIWIKAU that KCL has appeared in Clearing for Medicine yesterday - it is definitely there, doesn't appear to be limited to say international students. Is that a glitch do you think? Someone has posted to say her son (not holding any offers) has phoned to check and been told to apply on results day. Have to say I'm quite surprised.

mumsneedwine · 06/07/2023 11:57

It's there. Def worth an application if keen on London and have no other offers.

@IGoWalkingAfterMidnight just checking that you have seen this about KCL being in clearing.

Africa2go · 06/07/2023 12:20

@mumsneedwine do you know how it works? Is it only for students with no offers? My DD's friend doesn't have any offers but has firmed her 5th choice. I think she might have applied to KCL and been rejected. Does that rule her out?
