Well we have booked 3 so far... Surrey, Bath and Essex for Politics /politics and IR.
Ds predicted grades gone up since ucas form so may try and get University place this year but have option of applying with grades if he wants to after results to a different set of universities. (year out).
Bath cancelled next week due to strikes so Surrey University our first one.
Guess a fair few offer days coming up.
How's it all going?

Guess strikes may have impacted a fair few offer days...

DS has Loughborough, Nottingham, Sheffield and Liverpool. He's also had an offer from Birmingham it for some reason doesn't want to do the offer holders day there.

Which one is favourite with your DS so far?

NotDonna · 12/02/2023 23:09

DD had York a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately L’boro is the weekend prior to her History NEA so she’ll probs cancel that one as she’ll want to ensure NEA perfect. No sign of an offer from Bath as yet albeit she’s not expecting anything until March/April as they said they’re aiming for ‘before 28th April’. But then any offer holder day will be extremely close to exams. Not that she needs an offer holder day for any decision making as she knows it’s her first choice.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 12/02/2023 23:12

Manchester in half term. The rest she went to before applying and doesn't want to revisit.

DinkyDaisy · 13/02/2023 07:08

My ds needs to revisit Surrey and Bath in particular to decide which he wants to firm. Shame Bath offer day cancelled from a purely selfish point of view. Rebooked in March. Essex booked just in case Surrey first choice as silly to put higher tarrif Bath as insurance.
The others 2 could still come into play.
He is deferring a year so could start again with results if need be. His predicted grades gone up since ucas form.

Ds needs to revisit as rushed Bath due to visiting Bristol on the same day. Needs to ask more questions, check accommodation etc at Bath. Walked from city to the campus (I was puffed! ) so know Bath beautiful.
Surrey- needs to check his initial positive view and dig a bit deeper. Essex, he liked the quantitative aspect of politics degree offered but only went to a mini open day.
If need be Royal Holloway and York on his list. Or, as I say, starting again with grades after results (aghhh.. He can go on his own I think then!).

DS couldn’t do Birmingham offer day as had to work. We are also off to Surrey next weekend, DS hasn’t actually seen it yet so he is looking forward to finally looking around. The one he really wants and is desperately waiting for is Loughborough. He actually emailed admissions last week and they said they were working through all the applications but some had already been rejected so he should hear by the end of the month. He applied back in October and got the other offers very quickly so it’s been a long wait. His predicted grades have also gone up since then so if Loughborough say no and he really doesn’t like Surrey then he is going to scrap the lot and start again with 1 course on UCAS extra.

DinkyDaisy · 13/02/2023 08:28

Surrey is a beautiful campus. We knew nothing about Surrey beforehand and were pleasantly surprised.

DinkyDaisy · 13/02/2023 08:29

What subject @mrsconradfisher ?

Sports Science

He is predicted 3 A’s on UCAS but Loughborough actually want A Star A A. His predicted grades have now gone up to A star A star A.

DinkyDaisy · 13/02/2023 08:36

My ds predicted gone up from A star A, B to A star A A since ucas form. However, we shall see...
Hope you enjoy Surrey. Think Sports Science on different campus to us. Make sure you go to Stag Hill campus and look at the lovely lake and grounds...

L’bro for sport science is hugely competitive so hang in there @mrsconradfisher they’ll have so many applications to go through. Fingers crossed for your DS!

yoyo1234 · 14/02/2023 09:09

Going with DS for an offer day tomorrow 😀. First break in over 5 years. Feels its my holiday (poor DS).

DinkyDaisy · 14/02/2023 10:00

Where are you going @yoyo1234 ?
Glad not impacted by strike day. Our Bath one for politics cancelled.

yoyo1234 · 14/02/2023 10:34

It's Cambridge. Heard it's really pretty. There's a Glasgow one (more local) as well but DS not want to go as they're not offering him course he wants (Bachelors not Masters) he thinks they don't think he could do Masters .

yoyo1234 · 14/02/2023 10:36

DS has Bath offer, thinking about it. Not sure can get there for an offer holder's day.

DinkyDaisy · 14/02/2023 11:31

Got quite a geographical spread there @yoyo1234 !
Hope you enjoy Cambridge. Well done your ds.

Anyone else's offer days impacted by strikes? Disappointed Bath cancelled today for ds subject as will delay decision making on firm and insurance. Also, his Dad had booked time off work so they could have a night there. Can't be helped...

Anyone got any info on Cambridge offer holder's days? Currently there but DS said after saying yes to offers day he has no more info

I think each college has a different offer holder day. Which college is it?

yoyo1234 · 15/02/2023 08:44

Think we were told not to say college and subject on Mumsnet as potentially identifying but anyone with offers holder day for Cambridge college today please please PM me.

yoyo1234 · 15/02/2023 08:45

Thinking of making separate thread for this.

WednesdaysPlaits · 15/02/2023 08:58

Can you ask on tsr?

yoyo1234 · 15/02/2023 09:18

Will look into tsr thank you

DinkyDaisy · 15/02/2023 10:30

Good luck yoyo.
I probably over share on Mumsnet in the hope no one likely to join the dots!
