Is there an applying for 2023 thread which isn’t early entry

1000 replies

KittyMcKitty · 01/11/2022 20:35

I can see there’s the Oxbridge one but dd isn’t an early entry applicant.

anyway she’s finally submitted her UCAS I know school have added the reference so imagine it’ll be off in a day or so 🤞🏻

Shes applying for sociology and has applied to:
Durham
York
Lancaster
Sheffield
Birmingham

her predicted grades comfortably exceed all the standard offers so I hope she gets some offers (and please please please let Durham offer!!).

anyone else waiting?

My ds quite liked his Golden ticket! York not likely to be one of his choices but nothing to do with golden ticket but course content. York is a lovely city.

NotDonna · 05/01/2023 16:09

I can understand that pets. I don’t think DD had a Christmas card but she did appreciate the Golden Ticket that was awaiting her. She knows it’s her insurance so it’s nice to be wanted especially as her desired firm are still yet to offer. We’ve booked a train up for the offer holder and are staying in York city so she can test out the public transport. Hopefully she likes it. The course certainly sounds good. Fingers crossed there’s no train issues!

WendyWebersdrugget · 05/01/2023 16:51

If I remember rightly DS1 got a letter from a student in the English department telling him York is fab for English. To be fair it is and he loves it. I think he likes to feel wanted!
DS2 currently doing mocks. I hope that UCAS form goes soon!

NotDonna · 05/01/2023 19:12

Oh wendy I think I’d want the Ucas form off before mocks if I was him. Is it with school?

WendyWebersdrugget · 05/01/2023 19:44

Yes - it was with them just before Christmas after he added something that he’d missed. It’s basically ready to go.

NotDonna · 05/01/2023 21:05

Oh that’s good wendy fingers crossed they’ll send it off very soon. As long as it goes in the next couple of weeks it really doesn’t matter.

WendyWebersdrugget · 06/01/2023 07:55

True - I know it will go before the deadline. Then will just have to keep my fingers crossed for him! He’s going in for a mock this morning, final one on Tuesday. What I’m hoping is that they go OK but with enough potential that he feels motivated to ramp up the effort. I think a uni offer would have the same effect. As soon as mocks are done, the next deadline is history coursework draft so he’ll be nice and busy!

Neversaygoodbye · 06/01/2023 08:54

DD doing mocks next week. Her UCAS has been with college since November & still waiting for it to be submitted. Not impressed at all as some were submitted before Xmas. Angry

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 06/01/2023 15:50

DS is back at school and they are now working through the remaining UCAS forms in alphabetical order. We have a late in the alphabet surname so who knows when it will go. Surely by the end of next week. 🤞

WendyWebersdrugget · 06/01/2023 19:57

Good news! The form has gone in! Phew!

mightyducks · 06/01/2023 23:11

Second offer in for my DD today from Birmingham, Biochemistry

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 07/01/2023 04:56

That’s a relief, Wendy. Hope the offers come in shortly. Congratulations to Mightyducks’ DD - first offer of the thread in the New Year I think. Good to hear that admissions departments are coming back online.

WendyWebersdrugget · 07/01/2023 09:06

That’s great news @mightyducks! Good to hear offers are happening already in the new year.

NotDonna · 07/01/2023 13:56

Fab news mightyducks is Birmingham high or low in her list?

mightyducks · 08/01/2023 14:52

NotDonna · 07/01/2023 13:56

Fab news mightyducks is Birmingham high or low in her list?

It’s her bottom choice I think - but as all her other choices are likely to give her very similar offers it could well end up her insurance choice

northender · 08/01/2023 23:03

AAB offer from Leeds for DD, so now she has Leeds & Nottingham but not yet heard from Newcastle which is her first choice

NotDonna · 09/01/2023 15:41

Yeah to your DD @northender what course is she looking at? Fingers crossed her Newcastle offer comes soon.

Neversaygoodbye · 09/01/2023 17:38

DD UCAS has finally been submitted by college. Now we wait with fingers crossed.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 09/01/2023 21:52

Great news Neversaygoodbye. Still waiting here. Well done to Northender’s DD.

Neversaygoodbye · 09/01/2023 22:03

Hopefully it'll go soon @SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun. If only the communication was better, this part of the process really shouldn't be that stressful.

troppibambini6 · 09/01/2023 22:09

Hi I've just been catching up, it's really interesting hearing experiences of history alevel.
Dd is doing English language, theology, philosophy and ethics and psychology.
After 6 weeks she felt she'd made a mistake with TPE and wanted to swap to history but wasn't allowed.
She was really fed up but sounds like she might have dodged a bullet a bit!

Still waiting to hear from Leeds for law. They told dd that they wait until the deadline then look at everyone which makes sense really.

NotDonna · 09/01/2023 22:23

I’ve never heard of TPE. Sounds like it has huge potential to be fascinating.

troppibambini6 · 10/01/2023 09:52

@NotDonna she's actually ended up really enjoying it but has found it quite hard going as she says it's basically three subjects in one a level.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 10/01/2023 16:40

Ds1 has had offers through from Edinburgh and Glasgow today!

WednesdaysPlaits · 10/01/2023 17:20

Ooo movement from scotland. Let's hope St Andrews follows suit. We're waiting on them..
