Here is the previous thread from when they were second years www.mumsnet.com/talk/higher_education/4366703-University-2020-2021-Part-12-Now-they-are-second-year-students-Hard-work-starts-and-getting-more-and-more-smart?page=4&reply=120485264

Ok title sounds a bit cheesy, but best I could come up with lol.
Feel free for placemarking :)

@aibutohavethisusername

It's not good enough, one of dds friend's had her dissertation marked by external markers and shes gutted that all that effort and her supervisor hasn't got the decency to mark it..

Im not sure what the lecturers have achieved -nothing by the sounds of it other than letting down the students who have had the most difficult Uni experience..

aibutohavethisusername · 06/07/2023 17:25

I am so sad for this generation, Covid & strikes etc have really screwed things up for them.

sammyjoanne · 06/07/2023 19:14

@Daisysway amazing news she got the 2:1 , well done to your DD 😀

@sammyjoanne ...

Crossing fingers for your dd

Hi all, just came to have a look to see if there were any graduation threads. DD due to get result from Leeds sometime this week. Anyone else waiting for Leeds? We don't know if it's going to happen or not. She doesn't want to know results before graduation anyway as she's convinced it's not going to be good.
I'd love to hear if anyone's child gets their results or not from Leeds.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 11/07/2023 11:59

DS's graduation in Manchester is next week, but his dad is going. Still no results yet, officially late now!

Frenchyq25 · 11/07/2023 12:25

DD's graduation is next Tuesday, we're not sure on her final mark as she missed her final exam due to being in hospital and is taking it next Wednesday. We know she has enough to graduate without it but not sure what with.

Daisysway · 11/07/2023 13:49

Dds graduation next week -Thursday....she received her certificate via email yesterday. Im guessing she's one of the lucky ones. Life sciences holding buffet and drinks reception but we have booked a meal too.

sammyjoanne · 12/07/2023 23:03

@Daisysway Thanks, im praying right now for her. She really has worked hard this year. DD gets hers tomorrow, we think its 6 out of 9 modules. its very quick from results day to graduation day for your DD wow. Im up at Lancaster next thursday evening and friday day time to help DD move her things out from private halls in the city to a temporary uni halls for the summer at Bowland college. One bit of good news, she got a weekend job at Primark and shes just finshed her first week, so its helping her pay for her summer accommodation, and she can see her friends whilst shes there. @specialted good luck for your DS tomorrow too

@sammyjoanne fingers and toes crossed for your dd!

choirmumoftwo · 13/07/2023 08:37

Good luck to all our Lancaster DC today, and indeed everyone else who is waiting for final results.

aibutohavethisusername · 13/07/2023 11:39

Thinking of all those getting their results today.

sammyjoanne · 13/07/2023 17:40

Thanks :) she got her results back 6 out of 9 modules marked. She has got enough to qualify into 4th year so far, providing that the other 3 modules are similar or better.
Shes on 60.3% and she needs 58.7% (A 2:1 at physics lancaster) to qualify for 4th year. So as long as she gets 58.7% or higher on the other 3, shes in. Wont know until late summer, but shes releived that her score has not dipped and gone over the threshold and feels a bit more confident :) Shes off to write her literature review for her masters project now. She did not want to jinx it before results day :)

@sammyjoanne that's great news so far! Ds was happy with his year 2 results , I was surprised he had them all marked as is doing history .

Daisysway · 13/07/2023 21:13

That sounds positive @sammyjoanne .

Its good that there is also some leeway...Dd missed her 2:1 cut off by under 1 percent in Yr2 and her combined Yr1 and 2 were 62.5 percent but no leeway on staying on the Mbio...

She's just waiting to hear about her Masters course now which falls within the Med School department rather than Life Sciences.

sammyjoanne · 13/07/2023 22:01

@specialted thats great he got his year 2 results back and done well, and no one was on the boycott which is great :) @Daisysway wow thats such a shame of not staying on the Mbio, 62.5% is a great score. Fingers crossed she gets on the Masters course.

Hope everyone elses DC gets what they need and do not have too long a wait. If DC's allow of course, would love to see some graduation piccies on this thread. The thread has been going on for years since our DC's started so would love to see the final part of the journey. Or at least a detailed account 😉lol

DS3 finally has his result, a week late from Uni of Manchester and only 5 days before his graduation! 👨🏻‍🎓He got a 2:1 which was what we were hoping for. 🥳 🍾🤩 He’s going to take a year out and try to get a filler job before applying to do teacher training starting Sept 2024.

sammyjoanne · 14/07/2023 17:17

@EllenJanesthickerknickers thats amazing well done to your DS. and only 5 days before graduation wow, this marking boycott seems to causing all sorts of delays and issues. I really hope you enjoy the day :)
@Frenchyq25 @Toffeesgirl hope your DC graduations go well too :)

sammyjoanne · 17/07/2023 22:12

Shes got into 4th year :)
Circumstances were down to : Having 33% or more not marked. Passing all other modules with no resits, and having enough of her current marks to reach that grade boundary for a 2:1.

choirmumoftwo · 17/07/2023 22:28

That's excellent news @sammyjoanne and such a relief.

sammyjoanne · 17/07/2023 22:45

@choirmumoftwo thanks, she can now look forward to being at chancellors wharf accommodation in October, and being with all her friends again. One of her friends said 'congratulations for not graduating' lol which is true, she wanted to stay for 4th year 😀

Fantastic news @sammyjoanne ....

Hope the DC who are graduating this week have a great day.

Dd has an interview for her Masters on Monday ..... Hoping it goes well because she hasn't considered any option B. The good news is she will know by the end of the week.

She started her seasonal lab job today but she's off on Thursday for her graduation and off again on Monday now for her interview and has a research paper to review for the interview too.

sammyjoanne · 17/07/2023 23:13

@Daisysway Thank you :) and oh wow wishing her all the best in the masters interview. Im sure she will smash it.
Im helping DD move out on thursday/ friday. Shes moving to uni accommodation friday and it clashes with one of the graduation days, so we will be moving in first thing; and then DD showing some support to her friends who are graduating (and some maybe protesting). So we plan to stick around the oiutside of the great hall for a bit, and Im staying with her in halls Friday night where she plans to cook me fajitas.

specialted · 18/07/2023 07:07

@sammyjoanne excellent news!!
@Daisysway hope the interview goes well x
