Durham 2022 applicants

New thread for those applying to Durham for 2022. What time of year do Durham usually make offers please and do they interview? DS applied early and we are new to all this but are wondering if he has now missed the deadline for ranking Colleges (unlike most of his friends applying who managed not to miss this and did this early on) as he can’t now see this option in the portal or if he hasn’t missed it then is their a deadline for doing this please? I know in previous years college rankings may have been irrelevant. Thanks

@mmzz There are 185 places in biological sciences for the new academic year so the data on here is a little out of date but broadly accurate. The offer rate is 73% for biological sciences last year and a further 12% got offered alternate courses and 15% were declined. Obviously we now have those applying who have already got grades from last year and the deferrals so it's going to be tougher.

DS has received an offer for Physics at Durham. He picked his College choices last night.
Has anyone else received offers yet? Also has anyone heard about an offer holders day (just I don’t have access to his portal so don’t know whether their is one and he has missed seeing it and booking onto it or whether we haven’t received an invite?

@mich101 - DS has received an email about this today. Not sure when it is exactly as we have no access to his portal and he’s currently at school. But he won’t be bothered about me booking leave or re-jigging things about at work etc.

@mich101 😆 mine is the same. He seems so chilled and preoccupied. I am so worried he misses out on doing something (like not picking a college until the last minute and staying in Stockton or somewhere or missing out on his place completely as he hasn’t decided on his insurance choice etc.

@Wordlewobble at least I’m not the only one then 🤣 and pleased to say, yes , E-mail received! Made him book there and then, going on the 2nd day as fits around my work better (and will have to stay up there 2 nights)

Mine hasn’t booked just yet as wants to ask his friends what day they are going first but he will be booking tomorrow night either way.

Has anyone’s DS/DD got an offer from the computer department yet at Durham?

Still waiting (for physics) here - starting to get worried, given a few MNetters have had physics offers for their DC here. Fingers crossed the fact that he's still getting various 'junk' emails from Durham means they haven't deleted him from their lists just yet!

They’re apparently usually very late to offer so fingers crossed for all the DC’s waiting

We’re waiting for computer science too…

My DD got an offer for biological science last night !! But no email yet for the offer day and only 80 places for bioscience across the two days so not sure we will get a place ?!?!

No one has an offer from friends whose kids applied for computer science (there are 4)

DS received his offer holders open day invite within 24 hours of him completing his form to rank the colleges.
