Oxbridge Aspirants 2022 part 3....Will they or won't they make it to interview? Our Mum nerves are in tatters!

New thread for us, lots of lovely support whilst we wait. Some of our lovely DC now have interview dates whilst the rest of us hold our breath and try not to hassle our teens into checking their SPAM folders at least several times per day .

Malbec I'm sure that student cringes at his younger self. As I say, he got in after an imposed gap year and his younger brother (who didn't wear a fuck off t-shirt to interview) got a two D offer - almost unheard of in modern times (he was also a student at our school).

@Horace123 the college DD applied to said that interview invites would be sent a week before the published dates for Classics interviews which is why I’m thinking any emails - one way or the other- will be late November.
Apart from Bristol and Edinburgh among DDs ‘ Classics friendship circle’ DD hasn’t heard of any other offers from other universities as yet.

I’ll keep you posted proggy. Such a waste of time speculating because it will make no difference to the outcome but I can’t help myself.

Not that surprising Sandy given that Oxford hasn't started properly giving out invites and Cambridge interviews most applicants. It's always the same until Oxford starts in earnest, then things get a bit bleaker.

But after that things pick up for the Oxford interviewees since they then have a roughly one in three chance of success across almost all subjects.

Swings and roundabouts.

True @goodbyestranger but I do think there is an element of selective posting that happens on these threads and suggests a false reality.

I hope people receiving a rejection will update as otherwise it skews perceptions of what is actually happening out there. And of course those who are excited (quite rightly!) to get an offer de-lurk to share it and give the impression of an abundance of invites and offers...

Trying/hoping to be a supportive old-timer. I had zero knowledge of how the system worked last year and it was nice to see some answers on here. I think too much knowledge can be as problematic as too little but knowing a bit about it can be helpful 😉.
I may well be in your shoes next year again though!!

That's me this year. I purposely said to DD, this is your future, your decision. I knew if I got involved I'd get over-involved. So, really, as we go along, I learn more. (I knew nothing about the written work, or interviews or anything, while DD has % of colleges accepting this, that and the other and a mine of other info she's been researching. And of course being abroad, we've got no school behind us for the good bits or the bad! Though my friend is head of dept in a "good" school in Kent and I presume they send a fair few applications so I may borrow her for some interview practice!)

The St.A fee thing yesterday said offers are made after 22/1.
