New thread for us, lots of lovely support whilst we wait. Some of our lovely DC now have interview dates whilst the rest of us hold our breath and try not to hassle our teens into checking their SPAM folders at least several times per day Grin.

@margegunderson and @SandyBayley They'll be done in May but I've just checked the exam timetable - DS has two exams on the day of his 18th birthday, 1 exam on my 50th birthday and 1 exam on his sister's 16th birthday. Sigh.

I have slightly lost track of the coursework to be honest - this term has been a bit of a shocker with the amount of work.

margegunderson · 15/11/2021 14:13

@Horace123 - I hadn't thought of checking the timetable! will add that to the To Do list. Term 4 is always a shocker with the IB - had one go through it before. Especially if they're doing Oxbridge apps which means the UCAS stuff has to go early.

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 15/11/2021 14:37

@Eightytwenty

Good news for us this morning. His / Pol interview confirmed. Fingers crossed to the others still waiting.
FAB NEWS!!!! How bloody exciting and nerve wracking

Which college @Eightytwenty if you don't mind me asking? Poor DD has text me 3 times this morning asking if any of the Mumsnetters have heard anything! Still waiting for Clare Sad

Great news @eightytwenty

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 15/11/2021 14:50

It is very tense. I think she will be more upset to not get an interview than to be rejected after interview IYSWIM.

Congratulations @Eightytwenty jr!

ealingwestmum · 15/11/2021 15:22

Hang in there Tango. Clare is apparently known for issuing late, and I don’t think now is late, yet (if that makes sense)

fishingeagle · 15/11/2021 15:25

So pleased to hear the @Eightytwenty. Still radio silence here on the interview/offer front. At least LSE finally acknowledged DS's application which he was mightily relieved about.

Damn it @ealingwestmum but thanks for the heads up. I am not the most patient person in the world so this is agony Grin

Which college @Eightytwenty if you don't mind me asking?

For Oxford at least (but probably Cambridge), the timing of interview invites will vary significantly by course and very little by College. Those that require aptitude tests will generally be later (TSA results aren't received until the end of this week)

Genegenieee · 15/11/2021 15:51

The waiting game is v hard on the nerves!

Congrats @Eightytwenty and others who have had good news.

Fingers crossed your DD hears from Clare soon @TangoWhiskyAlphaTango! DD thinks offers for Cambridge maths won't be for a while yet - interviews are slated at the college she's applied to for 7-10 Dec. I think if others started to receive invites to interview though she'd be skittish, she's not sat in the laidback camp...

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 15/11/2021 15:56

DD did not have to submit any written work or test to Clare so you would imagine interview dates would be more forthcoming in those circumstances. Ah well it will happen when it happens it would just be nice to know one way or the other now so she can either focus on some serious interview prep or have a good cry and move on.

For those waiting for interviews, I feel for you! DS was interviewed for Maths in 2019 and the invitation did not come until 29th November. Several dc we knew were getting Maths interviews at other colleges so DS was quite downhearted. So hang in there and fingers firmly crossed for everyone.

JulesJules · 15/11/2021 16:20

Yes, to echo @beeswain D1 was interviewed for History joint at Oxford in 2019, the invitation came last thing on Friday 29th Nov, she had to be in Oxford 10-14th Dec.

DahliaMacNamara · 15/11/2021 16:46

I posted this on the other thread - DD's interview invitation didn't come through until 7th December. If memory serves, she was hearing online about rejections throughout the day, so it seemed they went out first.

DahliaMacNamara · 15/11/2021 16:46

(Oxford, I should have said)

I'm a bit late to the party but you seem a friendly bunch so here goes...
DS has applied for architecture at St John's, he's very realistic about his chances which is good. He had a nightmare choosing & uploading his portfolio but he's already had (strangely low) offers from Cardiff & Newcastle so they obviously like it.
Anyway I'm going to try to limit myself to asking him if he's checked his spam folder no more than once a day Grin

Welcome to our support group for nervous Mums Grin. Fab that he has a couple of offers already. My DD also has Cardiff, Nottingham and Liverpool all lower offers but contextual due to our area, still waiting on Bath. I think it makes them relax a little knowing they have solid back up plans. Good luck and keep us posted.
