Thought I would start a new thread as part one is nearly full and found thread one to be of great support.

So its deadline week this week for our applicants then the nervous wait begins to find out of they have made it to interview. DD applying for HSPS at Cambridge. We know it is a long shot but got to be in it to win it and she is very keen to try. Looking at the admissions info it does not look as though she will need to sit a test prior but all the best to those who will have to.

@SandyBayley

Don't worry *@pantjog* - post away. I'm hiding from DD who wants to practice medical school interview questions with me. I've just been told that they removed my wrong kidney...
Love this! Well done Ron your DD @Piggywaspushed - what's the background to your user name?
Startoftheyear2021 · 12/11/2021 22:30

We, not sure where Ron came from!

Startoftheyear2021 · 12/11/2021 22:31

Or the 'we'. Think I might avoid posting again!

Piggywaspushed · 13/11/2021 07:26

Hahastart, I see DS as a Ron!

the username is Lord of the Flies inspired. I like to think if I was there I would have sorted them all out.

Congratulations to all the DC with interviews and places! DS is now saying that he thinks he will only get the rest of his offers ( if any) by March. No idea why he is saying that Hmm

Oh also, his school is organising an Oxbridge mock interview on Tuesday despite the fact no one has got any offers. Seems a bit premature?

Shadedog · 13/11/2021 09:15

Congratulations to everyone with interviews. Ds hasn’t heard yet. Has anyone heard from Edinburgh? Ds been asked to register on their portal but no offer (I know they have started offering for his subject so feeling a bit worried)

DD college has too. I think the problem is that for some of our dc there may only be as little as a week between invite and interview so even if they don't get one its probably best to prepare like they have IYSWIM!

I just told DS to check his junk mail folder and he told me to stop going on MN!

Puffalicious · 13/11/2021 09:48

Shadedog we heard from Edinburgh a few weeks back. But this will be because it's an unconditional offer as due to the Scottish system he got his Highers last year that he needs for other universities (ie not Oxford).

Don't worry, they can be as late as January.

Puffalicious · 13/11/2021 09:49

GrinHa, DS said the same last night!
TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 13/11/2021 10:06

@Puffalicious @MareofBeasttown Me too! DD was keenly asking though if any other MN DC had heard from Clare Grin

So funny OP that they all know we're all chatting! Grin

I keep scuttling in to DD and saying "the mums say ..." while vaguely waving my hand in the direction of the computer and she just rolls her eyes at me.
Titoth · 13/11/2021 12:00

I get the impression that most DCs on this thread are applying to Cambridge?
My DC is applying for deferred entry, and their college says that they only make an offer for deferred entry if they think you're better than any applicant likely to apply in the following year Shock. We are therefore not particularly expecting an interview offer!

Puffalicious · 13/11/2021 14:52

New thread OP?

Panicmode1 · 13/11/2021 15:11

@titoth I don't know much about deferred entry, but DS said that for engineering (physics/maths etc) they don't like deferred entry because the view is you lose some acuity. DS said that he found the break between everything stopping once GCSEs were cancelled and A Levels starting, difficult, so imagine a year off would be tricky in some subjects.

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 13/11/2021 15:32

Thanks @Puffalicious
