Are your DCs back to face to face lectures?

DD at Warwick found out today that all of her lectures will be online and 50% of seminars and tutorials will be too.
I am livid! Schools and colleges are back to normal. Can't believe I'm paying £9k for another year of her sitting in her room!
What's happening where yours are?

Dd is back f2f for all her lectures so far. She’s at Durham.

SeasonFinale · 06/10/2021 18:16

Bristol : 10 hours f2g 1 hour online

SeasonFinale · 06/10/2021 18:16

that should say f2f

ClerkMaxwell · 06/10/2021 18:20

DD has 50% lectures and 100% tutorials/seminars f2f (Edinburgh, Humanities).

DS2 has everything online (Strathclyde, Business Masters).

Feel bad for my DS2 as masters is eye wateringly expensive and I think he would have gone elsewhere if he had known. They claimed blended with at least 2 hours per week.

Xenia · 06/10/2021 18:35

Twins (post grad law) are 100% face to face which is 4 two hour seminars in a group of about 15 a week. There ARE a lot of online papers, notes and recorded lectures you can also watch ut I think for their course those have been on line for many years.

Their 10 hours face to face a week i s going very well and I am very pleased.

Daisysway · 06/10/2021 18:46

See my post (Warwick) if the course is accredited write to the accrediting body... If its Life Sciences let me know....

tranquillitybase · 06/10/2021 18:49

DS post grad Oxford is all f2f

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/10/2021 18:49

4th year cambridge maths is for the first 10 days doing half face to face lectures, half online, while they work out flow through the building. Then hopefully then going full face to face. Lectures are being recorded for those who can't attend in person.
Small group work probably in person.

Fancyfencepost · 06/10/2021 18:52

Newcastle - all f2f

sashagabadon · 06/10/2021 18:54

My dd has just started at a London uni and so far everything face to face in person. I met her for lunch yesterday briefly and it was buzzing by her uni building loads of students about.
Long may it continue

Chilldonaldchill · 06/10/2021 19:10

DD has been told it will be a mix for lectures but all small group F2f. So far all her lectures appear to be F2f as well. (Cambridge)

geogteach · 06/10/2021 19:10

DD first year Cardiff everything except 2 hours a fortnight online. Not what I'd hoped for.

DS1 on year abroad in Morocco all f2f which is a relief after all in-line last year in Leeds

oldowl · 06/10/2021 19:10

LSE 100% lectures online, 100% of classes/tutorials f2f.

Peaseblossum22 · 06/10/2021 19:11

My dc at Durham , 4/6 modules online lectures , as far as we know seminars and tutorials f2f . 2/6 all f2f

gogohm · 06/10/2021 19:12

Varies, one of my DD's has lectures with over 50 online, one has lectures with over 100 online and dps dd is all in person

Dalooah · 06/10/2021 20:10

@Daisysway I haven't seen your other post but have a friend doing a life sciences course at Warwick and is super distressed with their lack of F2F. International student as well, paying far far more than £9k. 😡😡😡

Daisysway · 06/10/2021 20:16

Here is the link to my post... If they contact me via pm I can pass on the email address of the person from RSB who is contacting Warwick about the issues I raised...www.mumsnet.com/Talk/higher_education/4350044-Warwick-Uni-less-face-to-face-than-last-year

AChickenCalledDaal · 06/10/2021 20:19

St Andrews - lectures online, tutorials and other small group classes f2f. Social life 1000% improved on last year. DD seems happy with the balance.

HarrietSchulenberg · 06/10/2021 20:30

Ds is at Manchester Met and all face to face.

FreddyMercurysCat · 06/10/2021 20:38

My lectures are all online but seminars, tutor sessions and skill days are all f2f - not sure how long this will continue for though as the uni were following gov guidance on Monday but today have told us we're to isolate if we're a close contact or show symptoms regardless of vax status and negative PCRs.

beenrumbled · 06/10/2021 20:39

DS Is at University of Manchester (MATHS) and so far has been 100% F2F. He did say that on enrollment he was asked for online or F2F preference, and he chose F2F. He has said that there are quite a few signing in to watch lectures online rather than in person but that the lectures and seminars are fairly full.

Liverpoolarefab · 07/10/2021 08:05

DD first year at Sussex - all f2f - only one of a handful of unis that are doing that Hmm

Teesdale2622 · 07/10/2021 08:09

DD at UEA all f2f so far

MarchingFrogs · 07/10/2021 08:40

@Teesdale2622

DD at UEA all f2f so far
Interesting - DS2 is at UEA (History of Art, first year) and says that their seminars are in person, but lectures are online.
LIZS · 07/10/2021 08:58

Not lectures, but tutorials and labs are.
