Fingers crossed for those final offers coming in!

Hope no one minds me starting the new thread...

@SATSmadness thank you, and I really am willing some good news to come your way too.

That was the last iron. She had one pre and one post-interview rejection last week, so it was very welcome news, after a week of expecting the worst.

MaddieElla · 31/03/2021 08:44

@Millylovespuddles that is really great news and such a relief. Smile

What a huge relief - absolutely delighted for you!

opoponax · 31/03/2021 09:48

@Millylovespuddles that's just brilliant. So happy for your DD and you. Star

emummy · 31/03/2021 10:13

Wonderful news @Millylovespuddles!

Monkey2001 · 31/03/2021 12:22

Great to hear @Millylovespuddles and encouraging for others still waiting. Applying for medicine is always stressful and this year really has been worse than any others for uncertainty and delays. Just put it down to resilience training!

redtulip12 · 31/03/2021 13:12

Wonderful news @Millylovespuddles

Sunbelievable · 31/03/2021 14:38

Millylovespuddles · 31/03/2021 15:01

Thanks folks, we are all over the moon. It's great to be able to plan for the next step!

bimkom · 31/03/2021 15:05

And adding my congratulations to the others, so pleased for you and your DD @Millylovespuddles. Are you celebrating or just flat on the floor with relief? So glad that last iron came through.

SeasonFinale · 31/03/2021 17:08

Congrats to Milly's daughter. Hopefully those still waiting will get good news too soon.

SATSmadness · 01/04/2021 11:18

DD received the news that she was expecting, i.e. that it's a no from her final Uni too.

School UCAS adviser has e-mailed her personally this morning commiserating but also saying that her work experience wasn't as extensive as many candidates and she should seek to improve in this area if she intends to re-apply next year.

She's in the frame of mind that even if she did re-apply, with her luck, due to likely repeated grade inflation, Uni's won't rank Y14 (TAGs) grades in hand as highly as predicted grades for the Y13s she'll be competing against in the autumn.

Easter weekend looms and then a family funeral. Once that's out of the way she'll be in the thick of A Level grade assessments which she feels have added pressure now due to no offers and having to compete next year with Y13s and then finally she can clear her head and re-plan.

Millylovespuddles · 01/04/2021 11:33

Awwww @SATS, I'm so sad to read your post. I was really hoping for good news, especially after such a long wait. You know how close DD was to being in the same situation, so I really relate to the issues re re-applying. She will get there, keep going and take heart from Monkey2001 .

emummy · 01/04/2021 11:36

So sorry @SATSmadness. That’s where we were last year, it’s very difficult. Dd managed to improve her UCAT and do more volunteering with an online befriending service, then got a reception job at a GP. She was quite down to start with at the thought of going through it all again, but I think it was a bit easier not having to do school work as well. Best wishes to your Dd, I hope she manages to regroup & move forward.

MaddieElla · 01/04/2021 11:38

I'm so sorry @SATSmadness I don't know what to say.

It will be okay. X

@SATSmadness sorry to hear that news.

When she is ready (after assessment potentially) I can suggest some virtual work experiences that some of ours had (with no hands on experience) that she would be able to access. If you want me to forward them now to you (so that you have them to hand should she wish to use them at some point) I will do so but I don't want to rub salt into wounds by pinging them through unexpectedly.

Sunbelievable · 01/04/2021 12:04

So sorry @SATSmadness

I know over the last couple of years that Edgehill were in clearing. If that wasn't one of your Dds ucas choices, then that is a possibility?

I also know of a case last year where someone took the UCAT for next year as early as possible when it opened (July?) While it isn't officially counted for clearing for this year, getting a higher score is something to talk about when trying to get a clearing place. Would she be confident enough to carry on when A Levels finish and try and storm the UCAT? Get that one the way..?

Sunbelievable · 01/04/2021 12:04

PS And July and August, she can just try for anything work experience wise... ?

SATSmadness · 01/04/2021 12:05

Thanks @emummy she's hoping that she can achieve roughly the same on UCAT/BMAT as she did in 2020 as this and her academic record/predictions meant she got interviews. Her cohort found that UCAT/BMAT performances can vary from day to day though. They all just hoped to be having a good day when they sat them.
She saw her reference (no issues apparently) and her PS was classed as great by school (Hmm, maybe they're not qualified to advise in that respect after all).
She just didn't get above the offer/no offer cut off line anywhere so diagnostically it must come down to interview performance/work experience, yes ? If she had known that there was an issue with these, she'd have been better off not applying this round and taking a year to address them but that sounds bitter and we're all wise with hindsight !

Sad though it is for us with the current outcome, it's still been so nice to be part of this thread so thanks very much to everyone sharing & caring along the way on here.

SATSmadness · 01/04/2021 12:08

@Sunbelievable her UCAT was over 3000, she's more worried about coming out with a lower score when resitting this year if she had an off day Grin.

SATSmadness · 01/04/2021 12:10

She has a job lined up, she's worked P/T during terms and F/T in summer hols since she turned 16.

SATSmadness · 01/04/2021 12:12

feel free to ping away @SeasonFinale

IsThisNameTaken · 01/04/2021 12:16

So sorry to read your post @SATSmadness - it's heartbreaking when you know they've put everything into it and it doesn't work out.

Sunbelievable · 01/04/2021 12:21

@SATSmadness she sounds fab! Yes, leave UCAT until after clearing and fingers crossed she can get a place in that. That's a cracking score!
