DD is our only so feeling very emotional thinking about drop off (only one parent allowed upstairs so DH will be lugging her stuff while I cry silently in the Quad). Will be followed quite soon thereafter by DH returning to the office part time so the adjustment will be huge.

How are everyone's DC's settling down at their universities? My DD is loving Portsmouth, still parties more than studies but has already growing up from my baby to a lovely young woman.

I was just looking for a freshers thread, I guess this is it? Or is there another one hiding somewhere?

Dd3 (aka my baby girl! 🙄 ) went at the beginning of October. She's just been home for the weekend which was really nice. She's a fair way (4+ hours) from home and finding that quite hard - all exacerbated by covid/being the youngest of the family/health issues - but she's reassured by the possibility of transferring nearer for her second year! I have no idea how feasible that actually is in practice, but it's a theoretical option, and that's helpful in itself.

Her flatmates are fine, not going to be her BFFs, but it's all friendly. She's trying to meet more people, and I think she will be fine. I just would like her to feel completely settled and at home and surrounded by friends immediately! I tell her it can't happen immediately but it's difficult to listen to my own advice Grin
