Continuation of the previous thread for those of us with children who are just finishing their 3rd year at university (so either "graduating" in 2020 or going into year 4 in Autumn 2020)..........

My twins' degree results will be out in late July. Good luck to everyone else waiting for finals results.

Well done to your DD @Carriemac, and how exciting going to Dublin!

Eve · 22/07/2020 08:12

Well done on the 2.1 , which university in Dublin ? ( I was at Uni North of the border but attended a Trinity ball or 2 in my youth!)

Carriemac · 22/07/2020 08:20

Trinity. So excited for her, she’s only 21 so most of her Irish friends will still be undergraduates there as they leave school later and mostly do 4 year degrees.

Xenia · 22/07/2020 09:39

Congratulations on the 2/1, Carriemac.
Bad luck on the sick Haff child. My son has a friend here for 2 nights (just when I thought it was only going to be one son and me last night) -she is a lovely girl but she is the one who gave him and his friend mumps 18 months ago despite his MMR injection so I fear she might be infection central.... however she seems very healthy so hopefully she has not brought me a death sentence home. They couldn't stay at her house my son says as her mother would not have allowed it.

My twins still await results later in the week. We would have been staying in Bristol this week for their graduations. I wonder when they get the certificates. Surely they could post them out in August and then if there is some kind of graduation ceremony in February they could just hand over fake ones or photocopies?

New hiccup - she needs a transcript for her masters admission( pretty standard ) and the uni said they are not issuing them due to covid restrictions! Seems strange all all this is electronic surely! 30 k fees and the admin has been rubbish

bigTillyMint · 22/07/2020 13:23

A transcript of her work? @Carriemac

Xenia · 22/07/2020 16:29

If that is the same thing as the twins needed for law school last summer they could order on line their marks from years 1 and 2 which pretty quickly was emailed to them and sent as a pdf with their application. I would be surprised if that could not still be done. May be there are just delays eg my twins would have graduated this week but the marks aren't due out until later this month presumably not least because so many students got 2 week extensions on dissertations. So perhaps transcripts will be issued but after a bit of a delay?

Xenia my friend's DD got her results from Bristol today so hopefully they aren't far away.

bigTillyMint · 22/07/2020 18:30

@penelopeplums, what degree did she do please? My DD is waiting too....

olliepolly · 22/07/2020 18:33

Hope you still make it to the lakes Haff.
I took a punt on a trip to west coast of Scotland/islands and think it might just work out. Will not quite believe till it happens as have had a series of bad luck with holidays over the last 2 years.
@penelopeplums, what degree did she do please? My DD is waiting too....
Psychology (and my DD now has her results too!)

bigTillyMint · 22/07/2020 20:02

Oooh, maybe DD will get hers Shock

bigTillyMint · 22/07/2020 20:03

@penelopeplums, how did your DD get on? Is she at Bristol too?

penelopeplums · 22/07/2020 20:06
@penelopeplums, how did your DD get on? Is she at Bristol too?
Yes, she's at Bristol too. She got a 1st for her dissertation and a 2:1 for her overall classification.

bigTillyMint · 22/07/2020 20:08

@penelopeplums well done to your DD! (That’s what was got when I did mine back in the Dark Ages Grin)

What was her degree in?

penelopeplums · 22/07/2020 20:11

Also psychology, I didn't post her results earlier as I was waiting for her to say yes!

I'm relieved that she got a 2:1 as she mentioned getting a 2:2 at one point, I got a 2:1 when I did my degree alongside a job and children so I wanted her to get the same as me and not lower hopefully for obvious reasons! I doubt she remembers what I got, it doesn't really matter after all.

penelopeplums · 22/07/2020 20:12

^ or higher of course!

That's ridiculous, my DD got hers today with her results.
bigTillyMint · 22/07/2020 20:14

Different faculty to my DD....

Crossing everything and trying not to pester/worry as she needs a 2:1 for her Masters...

penelopeplums · 22/07/2020 20:31

Crossing fingers for your DD. Mine needed a 2:1 as well, she was on the MSc programme at Bristol but changed to the BSc as the 4th year at Bristol doesn't cover what she needs for the next stage of her studying.

Xenia · 23/07/2020 09:22

Well done to the penelope daughter. My son's best friend got a high 2.1. I know that because I came downstairs at about 3am as my son was making so much noise cooking - he said said friend had just left and they had been celebrating the mark. They never seem to celebrate or bake in the night in that boy's family's house!!!!! I suppose I am just the nice tolerant one although I am not sure I benefit from that.... never mind and I am very pleased the other boy did so well. So we are now down to one guest staying and I think she goes today ( we have to be quite careful as she didn't get the result she wanted not that it will really matter at the end of the day)..... my twins are still waiting for their Bristol results.

That's great. DD got 78 for her dissertation which I'm told is a high first and 64 for the 'exam' such as it was.

I wish I could remember my old username on these threads, I've changed it so often but have been on here since A level results days.
