Applying for uni in 2021...

Thought I'd start the ball rolling on this one...

Dd wants to study psychology and we've been checking out dates of open days.

Her school still does AS levels. She's doing psychology, physics & business.

Please come and join us on the long and bumpy ride past revision and exams and on towards the much anticipated start of uni life in Autumn 2021.

I suppose it also depends if they need the portfolio for the first stage of reviewing her application - it might come later I suppose?
What is her course, hopefully someone on here will have more experience. Smile

minesawine · 15/11/2020 10:35

'LeiatheSchnauzer' she is applying for a BA in Animation. I think it will be 2 or 3 weeks before she hears back with a date and then hopefully she will have some more time to submit because she has not quite finished.

Congratulations all the dc who’ve received offers - fantastic!

Well school have done there stuff and the form went to UCAS this morning. After having changed tge 2nd Bristol course to Pol & Int Rel he decided to change it back to Social Policy & Pol which I think is sensible as it’s a slightly lower standard offer (AAB as opposed to AAA) as the other course he’s applied for at Bristol (Phil & Pol) is AAA.

So waiting to hear from Bristol x2, QMUL, Liverpool & Manchester - I’m guessing it’ll be a loooonnng wait!

KittyMcKitty · 17/11/2020 17:05

^their stuff not there stuff!!

doistayordoigo · 17/11/2020 17:58

Can I join you? My DS is applying for Vet Med at Liverpool, Surrey, Nottingham & Bristol, and there is vet med thread, but it's really quiet this year! So if I can join in the general thread as well that would be lovely.

KittyMcKitty · 17/11/2020 18:00

Welcome @doistayordoigo my dc applying to Bristol & Liverpool also but very different subject 😀

alirohat · 17/11/2020 18:04

DS2 UCAS sent Friday , first offer in from Uni of York just now for Computer science . Also sent assessment process for the PwC Degree apprenticeship at Uni of Leeds (which says outcomes won't be till mid March!) Happy Mum that he has an offer already - can relax a bit now! Smile

Lara53 · 17/11/2020 18:05

My DS has received offers from Leeds and Oxford Brookes so far. Waiting on Southampton, Lancaster and Loughborough 🤞🤞

storminasnowglobe · 17/11/2020 18:30

Hello everyone Smile
Joining this thread as DD submitted her UCAS form yesterday morning. It's been a long road to get here with many many changes of choices and courses along the way Grin. She decided to go for Law in the end as she is genuinely interested in the subject and has just this afternoon got her first offer in from Swansea which is very exciting. She's a bright girl with an amazing memory but not an all A* high flyer which so many of the law applicants seem to be, so she was very worried that no one would want her. Very pleased with her offer of ABB as that at least does seem attainable 🤞🤞🤞

fayebebaby · 17/11/2020 20:27

Offer received on Friday from Bangor which is her last choice

minesawine · 17/11/2020 20:58

My DD has a group Zoom interview with Portsmouth arranged. She is very nervous.

NotDonna · 17/11/2020 22:24

Lovely to have more DCs UCAS forms in and well done to those with offers already coming in!

fayebebaby · 17/11/2020 23:17

Offer from Loughborough tonight which is the 1st choice.

Tenpastseven · 18/11/2020 07:45

Congrats @fayebebaby. Great news to get 1st choice offer.

Exciting to hear about all the offers rolling in. This thread sounds like it’s going to get very busy now, DS is still waiting to hear from 4 of his choices.

fayebebaby · 18/11/2020 11:17

She’s made up@Tenpastseven.

NotDonna · 18/11/2020 15:55

So pleased @fayebebaby 👏🏻 it’s quite a relief isn’t it? What subject?

LeiatheSchnauzer · 18/11/2020 19:30

Congratulations on all the offers!
Dd1 has an interview at York, which she is very nervous about too, @minesawine!

KittyMcKitty · 18/11/2020 19:36

Congratulations on all the offers and good luck to those with interviews 🤞🏻

Much to our surprise after he only submitted his form yesterday ds has an offer from Liverpool (the standard AAB for Politics).

fayebebaby · 19/11/2020 00:13

@NotDonna psychology with placement year at Loughborough. Got an offer from Liverpool tonight which will be her insurance choice

slalomsuki · 19/11/2020 09:50

@KittyMcKitty DS does politics at Liverpool and loves it. His offer 2 years ago was ABB plus EPQ and got in on results day with that. Liverpool was his insurance but he is so glad he went there instead of Sheffield. Choice of options in 2nd is huge and allows them to do something they are interested in. Happy to help if you need any more info.

KittyMcKitty · 19/11/2020 09:57

@slalomsuki fab to hear your ds enjoys the course - it looks great - and it was a boost to get an offer the day after submitting. Liverpool is such a great city too. Sadly ds dropped his epq during lockdown- he really struggled with lockdown and the isolation and something had to give.

Ds’s first choice keeps swapping between Bristol and QMUL but he’d be happy (and privileged) to go to any he’s applied to.

AtiaoftheJulii · 19/11/2020 11:21

Exciting to hear about so many offers coming in! It's so reassuring for them (and us!) when those first offers appear.

Dd3 sent hers in to college last week, doesn't seem to have been sent off yet. She's applied to 4, left the last space blank partly as she hasn't yet found a 5th place she loves, partly because she's really anxious about not getting any offers she wants to keep the option of adding somewhere with lower requirements!

Skyr2 · 19/11/2020 20:02

I wish I had known that you could just apply to 4 and add one later, school have really been pressing to get them to apply and it went off yesterday with 5 choices.
DD seems happy to get it done, I will be happy when she gets 1st offer.

FlowFlow7722 · 19/11/2020 20:33

Dd put her form into school today, so hopefully it gets submitted soon.

She’s applied for Birmingham, Loughborough, UEA, Royal Holloway and Sussex, fingers crossed for getting the first acceptance soon Smile

cologne4711 · 19/11/2020 21:16

You can change it up to 7 days after it goes in. DS is waiting for his college to put through his application now, and it's possible he'll change one option. I think he may have aimed slightly too high and I'd like him to change one of his choices from AAB to ABB.
