Dd has another essay due in.... 15 days..she brought scanned info back from the library and has access to stuff online. She may go to the library at the local uni if she runs out of info but is otherwise planning on hitting the library hard back at uni for a day or two after we drop her back there.

Jano69 · 24/12/2019 09:40

No Uni work for DS either. He got a visitors appointment at the doctors yesterday and told he has flu. He's had it a week so I'm hoping he'll make a miraculous recovery in time for Christmas Day.

ZandathePanda · 24/12/2019 11:41

Well all of us are ill now. Just dragged Dd to get another set of antibiotics. Instead of going to relatives tomorrow they are talking of leaving a food parcel by the door! Can’t blame them - I wouldn’t want to be near us either.

Benjispruce · 24/12/2019 11:47

Well , we’re just back from visitors GP appointment too! Tonsils had some white spots this morning and ears still muffled, very hard to swallow but no fever. Got antibiotics. Fingers crossed she can enjoy tomorrow. Get well soon everyone!

Benjispruce · 24/12/2019 11:51

Was shocked she had to pay prescription cost. £9!!! Last time I got one it was £7. I thought students were free.

ZandathePanda · 24/12/2019 12:10

Ahh for the first time there is an advantage to have had summer babies! I have put up with ‘why did you have me in the summer?’ especially being 15 and 17 taking exams, not ‘officially’ being able to drink til after all her friends, being the last in her year to learn to drive. BUT since she’s 18 we still get free prescriptions! ConfusedGrin

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 24/12/2019 12:56

@Benjispruce students get free ones but only if they sign up to get them which requires filling in a long and time-consuming to complete form.

Sorry to hear so many young people and families are poorly. DS still not well and bed-bound but hoping he will be feeling a bit better by tomorrow. Just hoping he didn't pass on his germs to grandparents when we visited at the weekend (at which point he was as right as rain). Luckily he didn't spend much time in close proximity as he was playing Cleudo with DD and his cousins.

OMG what a sick bunch we are!! Happy Christmas!

justasking111 · 24/12/2019 16:44

Merry xmas to all.

Sorry for all the poorly folk my eldest DS is the only one still standing in his family, DW and kids all in bed. This tonsillitis seems to be doing the rounds. Seven month old grandson has it . Nasty lurgies.

mum2eim · 24/12/2019 17:40

Happy Christmas to everyone. I’m still at work (healthcare) and lots of bugs going through the community this year.

Thank you to you all for the lovely support this year either directly or indirectly. Hope that all the poorly people are feeling a bit better tomorrow

Benjispruce · 24/12/2019 18:11

Merry Christmas to you all and I’d like to echo @mum2eim and say thanks for a genuinely lovely, supportive and helpful thread. Cheers to you all!Xmas Grin

Ginfordinner · 24/12/2019 18:40

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope everyone feels well enough to enjoy it.

bigTillyMint · 24/12/2019 19:33

Happy Christmas to everyone! I agree this is a nice thread Xmas Smile

Sorry for the ill DC. Both mine are currently well despite all the partying. Another big night tonight, but at least we've had our annual family outing with friends today.

HoldMyLobster · 24/12/2019 21:53

Ah I hope they're all better soon. It's lovely chatting with you lot. Happy Christmas for tomorrow.

Ragwort · 24/12/2019 22:42

Happy Christmas everyone, these threads have been so supportive through the last year of offers, exams, results, settling in at uni etc etc .. I’ve really appreciated sharing the good (& challenging) times. Xmas Smile

Witchend · 25/12/2019 00:13

Happy Christmas all.

Hope those ill get better quickly and don't pass it on.
I'm the one who has been ill in this household. Dd has been full of health and incredibly helpful-I think she's rejoicing so much in not having to cook and wash up that doing one seems no issue. Long may it continue, and preferably infect the other two before she goes back to uni!

blametheparents · 25/12/2019 08:43

Merry Christmas!
Waiting for our ‘lovely’ teenagers to rise! Things have changed since the 5am wake up calls on Xmas day!

Alicatz66 · 25/12/2019 08:59

Happy Christmas everyone.. best present ever this year ... DD and DS cooking lunch and I'm not allowed in the kitchen !!

Whatagoodidea · 25/12/2019 10:25

Wishing you all a very happy Christmas. Few hours ahead of you all due to time difference , about to sit down for lunch WineXmas Smile

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 25/12/2019 12:27

Merry Christmas everyone and hoping those of you who are overseas have had a lovely lunch.

DS rallied to open his presents and have a salmon and cream cheese bagel for breakfast but lying down at the moment. Not sure how much lunch he will eat.

2nd trip to A&E in 3 days. DS is so sick with severe tonsillitis, which seem to be swelling by the hour. Different penicillin and stronger painkillers. We were so excited about my boy coming home but it feels like he had to get back to mum before his body gave way. I feel so sorry for him

Ginfordinner · 26/12/2019 11:06

Oh no. I hope he feels better soon Flowers

Benjispruce · 26/12/2019 11:24

Oh no @minesawine sorry to hear that. DD is in day 3 of antibiotics for tonsillitis and inflamed ear and has really improved . They gave her Clarithromycin to cover the ears and throat. She was fine to enjoy Christmas Day thankfully.Hope he improves quickly . Off ice skating now . Happy holidays.

Whatagoodidea · 26/12/2019 12:02

All our DC's in need of parental love and care. I hope they are all better soon. Mine had their exams before the break so no revision to worry about. Keeping them just about healthy with extra vitamin tablets and good food. I think sleep would help but too many friends to catch up with and they are doing a 500km in 8 days with their father just to complicate matters

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 26/12/2019 12:12

@minesawine, so sorry to hear your DS is so poorly. Wishing him a good recovery now he's on different antibiotics. Glad to hear your DD is picking up @Benjispruce.

I think it's been a very full-on year for all of our DC and they are clearly physically worn out, hence becoming so ill. Such a nasty virus. Sure they'll be fighting fit once all the festivities are over Xmas Sad
