Heading towards year 3 exams (uni 2017)

Hard to believe they are all in year 3 now and many will finish university in June 2020.

Actually they started in 2016, didn't they, not 2017?

I will see if I can get it deleted. (Althouh my twins did start in 2016 not 2017 and they graduate in 2020 so perhaps I have been on the wrong thread all along not that it matters).

Is it ok to join you on this thread? I have a DC in third year doing a 4 year integrated masters so a while yet to go. And another one going through school so the university visits start again soon.

My ds is in 3rd year of BSc ....but has another year to go as he's at Uni in Scotland, we're heading up for long weekend in Edinburgh after his exams next weekend, to do some Christmas shopping and visit Christmas markets!

We couldn't possibly refuse anyone with that name! mine is on yr 3 of a 4 year masters too.

And at least one of my twins although in year 3 is going to law school for 2 years from September 2020 so in that sense has this year plus 2 more to go anyway. Welcome to anyone new.

Gosh, there's loads going on with everyone as we hurtle towards Christmas. I posted DS2's Christmas parcel earlier after watching the YR class I work part time with perform their Nativity play. They were so excited and so sweet. It seems a long time since our DC were so small. I suppose you're on the 2nd round of performances, as a Grandma, Xenia. 😊
Sorry to hear some of you are experiencing frustrations with beaurocracy, as if bereavement or health worries aren't stressful enough. I hope you all begin to see light at the end of the tunnel soon.
I'll still be around next year as DS2 needs to do his final year when he returns. Perhaps we can have a 1st jobs thread eventually where we all breathe a huge sigh of relief!

Errol you are correct about DD's course being an integrated Masters. I presumed that your DD's was also 4 years.

Just spoke to DD about collecting her. She's had lots of meetings today and around now should be with her Director of Studies. She's not overjoyed about the pre-dawn start but at least she can sleep in the car. She doesn't have to bring all her stuff home. In previous years she has had a lockable cupboard in her room but because this is a (cheaper) college house, it doesn't get used for conferences so she can leave all her cooking stuff and food which won't go off. Hopefully we can load up relatively quickly. Lots of freshers are bring collected on Saturday so parking will be miserable. I'm hoping that 7.30 on Sunday morning is quiet. When we arrived, the porters let us park outside the house, so fingers crossed I can do the same. Can't wait to have her home again!

Mine considering MRes and PhD after first degree but it will depend on a number of things, not least what PhD area of study are available and where. I think a change of scene might be wise but who knows. It only seems like yesterday that they left for university.

DS is in year 3 of his integrated Masters. He'll be home on the 16th. I'm so looking forward to seeing him.

Hi all ! Can’t believe DD is in her final year and DS her twin in is Australia on his year abroad.
It’s been a challenging year, DS very happy in Oz but DD misses him, and she is struggling - her diagnosis of dyspraxia earlier this year explains her struggle with written exams in oxford despite doing well with her essays and tutes . Oxford are not being very supportive, I’m really disappointed with the attitude of her tutors who are less than understanding. Her friend in Cambridge finds their learning support excellent and lots of accommodations made.
Just hoping she’Ll get through her finals...
And that we will survive not have DS here for Christmas.

Hi all - I'll still be around as dd is in Scotland and will have a 4th year and probaly a postgrad year. She doesn't finish until the 20th - she has an exam on the morning of the 20th but is planning to catch a train in the afternoon .

She sound busy but happy and I went to visit last weekend to take her advent calendar to her ( and catch up with my own friends) . We're looking forward to all being together at Christmas - stockings for everyone in this house which have to include chocolate coins, a satsuma and a shiny 20p.

I think I'll still be here too as DD is thinking to do a Masters.

@readsalotgirl63, that's a bit harsh - exam on the last day of term?!

I hope the Carriemac twin can sort out the issues. My twins are very different but do find it quite useful at times having the other twin at the same university; and they have a few friends in common so it's worked out quite well.

As I gave away the mattress of one of mine from home today to the twins' tenants (long story but they are letting out their brother's old house which is now theirs and the tenants move in tomorrow if all goes to plan and I was the only one around today who could take a mattress out ther e- it's about 30 minutes drive away - I managed to get it in the Volvo which was a relief). So I wish he would reply to my text about what kind of mattress he wants for his new one at home as I want to order it soon otherwise he'll be on a camp bed at Christmas. Mind you as I told him he's done quite well out of it as he will have a nice new mattress and the one he currently has was his sisters from about 15 years ago.

Exam on morning og 20th sounds awful. one of mine (doing a BSc) had been doing to have an assessment but that's cancelled as some lecturer seems to have had some major problem and probably has left- someone saw her in tears, poor thing.

Suppose someone has to have exams on the last day - at least it's in the morning so she should get home by Friday evening.

If it means she can come home and relax, I guess that's better than having exams at the start of next term and having to swot all Xmas.

We are collecting DD next weekend. She has a dissertation presentation to do when she returns in January. She will be working and catching up with old school friends over the holidays, so I'm not sure how much of her we'll see.
