Hi a new thread with DC applying to Vet Med next year or for anyone with DC already studying who could pass on some words of wisdom!

My DD is looking to apply to Cambridge, Surrey, Nottingham and Bristol.
She has a fair amount of work experience arranged already and we will do the open day circuit next year.

We have scanned through it all. There is 27 questions to do all in a week plus sjt test. Think this is the worst of them all 😔
We are just debating what time span is meant by recently - is it last few months or longer x

mumsneedwine · 19/10/2019 17:03

I am leaving forms to DD so wow, that's a lot of questions !! On top of work, school stuff and sleep. Half term would've been helpful but she'll get it done somehow. And I'd say recent is last year, maybe 18 months ? So much work and no guarantee of an interview - it's tough !!

DD is going to start the Nottingham form later, after she has done her homework. It sounds a bit scary! She did the Surrey one yesterday, and the Bristol one last week. It seems a bit strange to me that there s no guarantee that they did the Bristol one without help, it’s very trusting and worrying that that is all they base their offers on. Unis have stopped using personal statements because they couldn’t be sure they’d been written by the applicant but surely the same goes for the Bristol form. At least we are edging forward.

Bati · 20/10/2019 12:18

Dd looked at the Nottingham one yesterday and has started it today. She says its not as bad as it looks Smile
Dd hasn't applied to Bristol so can't comment on that form but I do see your point scotandcharlene some kids will have a lot of help via school and family whilst others will not, which will put them at a disadvantage for Bristol as there is no interview x

mumsneedwine · 20/10/2019 13:18

Bristol form was horrible, RVC was horrible, Nottingham's is loooooonnng and Liverpool was awesome as just had to list work experience. Or so DD tells me as it's her forms and I've just done a bit of hand holding when pressing the send button. DD doing SJT later and finishing answers to other form to read over tomorrow before sending. And then it's done. So so much work just to get an interview if lucky - think I preferred the stress of UCAT to this.

Scottandcharlene · 20/10/2019 17:46

Forms all done. Phew!

3catsandadog · 20/10/2019 20:18

DD just has Notts form and then all done thankfully. She has half term this week and then NSAA next week then the wait begins !

mumsneedwine · 20/10/2019 20:21

Just the last Notts one to go tomorrow but she says she's done the questions. She's so glad she didn't apply to Cambridge as has her EPQ to write at half term. And sleep. She needs some sleep !

Bati · 26/10/2019 11:46

How is everyone
I am looking forward to this next week. All forms are done and submitted, it's half term and this is the 1st school holidays with no work experience for the first time in over a year 😊 can't wait for a relaxing, fun week as family.
Oh and dd passed her driving test yesterday 😊 so a good start to the half term x

mumsneedwine · 26/10/2019 12:25

Hi. Same here. All forms done and no work experience ! Now just the long wait but going to not think about it this week and just relax.

Scottandcharlene · 27/10/2019 09:31

Very glad it’s half-term too, and such a novelty to have no work experience to squeeze in. The waiting is tough especially as all her friends are getting offers for their courses. We are going shopping today before she gets back to doing school work tomorrow.

I was about to congratulate DD catsanddogs - hope it's all ok. DD trying to forget about is as best she can as not expecting to hear anything for a few weeks going by last year. She has looked at tsr ! Hope all having a lovely half term.

So pleased for your kids. Nice to hear some positive news ! Didn't apply to Surrey so the wait goes on here. Is that 16th Nov ? Really early so nice to get out the way.

Scottandcharlene · 29/10/2019 21:40

Thank you mumsneedwine, hopefully it won’t be too long before you get some new too. At least this is all a distraction from politics!
