Hi a new thread with DC applying to Vet Med next year or for anyone with DC already studying who could pass on some words of wisdom!

My DD is looking to apply to Cambridge, Surrey, Nottingham and Bristol.
She has a fair amount of work experience arranged already and we will do the open day circuit next year.

Congratulations mumsneedwine too. Your DD must be tired, one interview is exhausting but two on consecutive days will be tough. If it’s any consolation dd really enjoyed Nottingham today - it was very relaxed apparently. It is her firm favourite now, so we have our fingers crossed.

Mum7400 · 16/12/2019 23:35

Are any of you going in with your children to Nottingham it says one parent may attend?

Scottandcharlene · 17/12/2019 08:00

Mum7400 - my DH went and said parents were made very welcome and invited into many of the talks. He took work to do but ended up falling in love with the place! Good luck.

mumsneedwine · 17/12/2019 08:05

Mine just heading off with dad. She looks exhausted, but last one today. Think she'll sleep for a week and dream of MMI stations. At least none of those today !

Bati · 17/12/2019 08:22

I will be going to Nottingham with dd for her interview, it isn't till january though x

mumsneedwine · 17/12/2019 17:56

Done. She's done her best and if they don't want her then their loss 😁. Now to think about Xmas. Hope everyone now has an offer and can relax a tiny bit. Only problem we have is DD now likes them all the same !

Scottandcharlene · 20/12/2019 18:11

I hope everyone has a very Happy Christmas, with a chance to relax after so many months of stress. We are not expecting to hear anything until January now so we will just sit back and be grateful for the two offers DD has received. She is busy revising for mocks but is appreciating not having to get up so early for a few weeks Xmas Smile

mumsneedwine · 20/12/2019 20:02

Happy Christmas everyone.

Bati · 21/12/2019 10:11

Merry Christmas everyone 🎅
Dd is doing maths A level, anyone recommend any good websites for practice questions that will be the level they need be x

mumsneedwine · 21/12/2019 10:20

This guy is good. New maths A level is HARD !!

Scottandcharlene · 21/12/2019 10:45

I didn’t dare mention the maths a level. That is now the source of the next stress in our house! It is so hard and dd is losing confidence. We will have a look at that link mumsneedwine, thank you, and thanks Bati for raising it. There’s always something to worry about 😕

Bati · 21/12/2019 14:01

Dd regrets taking maths A level, she said the text book and homework she can do but then the exam is going to be a lot harder and she doesn't know where to find the harder questions to see if she can do them as there isn't many past papers to practice with x

mumsneedwine · 21/12/2019 17:56

There are lots on that website. Also, each exam board issued a few specimen papers when the new exams started and can find these on the specific exam board website. And her teachers should be providing questions ! They will have access to question banks. The new A level is so much tougher - one of the reasons doing 4 is not the same as it was a few years ago.

handmedownqueen · 22/12/2019 10:41

Happy. Christmas everyone - feels like 2019 stress of getting application ready is going to be nothing compared to the 2020 stress of actually getting the grades!

3catsandadog · 22/12/2019 15:46

Happy Christmas - counting down to last interview on 7th

hello all and a happy new year! lets hope all our DC get to start vet school this year! anyone had any news or updates? Still not a peep from Bristol and rang HK who say their selection process will be finished by end Jan but didn't say if they were planning further interviews or not.

3catsandadog · 07/01/2020 19:56

Scottandcharlene · 13/01/2020 09:11

Happy New Year (if it’s not too late to say that!). It is week 2 of mocks here and with Christmas as well the focus has been shifted away from worrying about offer for a few weeks. Hoping to hear from Nottingham this week and I guess the Cambridge people will hear too? Good luck to all again, and to those with interviews still to come (Bati?)

Bati · 14/01/2020 19:06

Slightly late but happy new year to you all Smile
Dd is still waiting to hear back from RVC and Nottingham, hopefully she will hear back soon.
She still has Edinburgh interview but that's not till February.
Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear back, hopefully universities will let people know soon x

Scottandcharlene · 15/01/2020 12:31

Congratulations 3catsandadog, how exciting. Cambridge is an amazing city. I was watching Grantchester the other night and it looked so pretty.

3catsandadog · 15/01/2020 12:39

Thank you :) for kind words keep re reading offer email! The school is going to be very chuffed as so small so it will be big news.
