Continuing Roisin's thread.

I've even succumbed to TSR, having sworn I wouldn't. Still no news here and haven't heard of news from any other source in the same subject at the same college but being very uncool tbh as the reality is that rejection after an interview would be much kinder for DS than a no ab initio. Massively cheered by a late afternoon offer from Bristol though. I thought I was chilled, I'm clearly not Grin.

Fingers crossed for everyone still waiting and hoping. It's very hard to see them disappointed, is the problem :(

Well done Hocus! Really pleased for your ds. Smile

MadameJosephine · 07/01/2015 12:16

Fabulous to hear all these offers coming through, so pleased for you all (and your DC of course ;))

roisin · 07/01/2015 12:23

All so positive so far! Well done Classicsgirl, decorhate and HocusUcas.

(How do you know about the offers? Are your dc's home, or have you arranged to open mail for them? We won't be finding out until the end of the day.)

Molio · 07/01/2015 12:24

Delighted Hocus :) and of course for all the other offers which have come through too. Let's hope we have a clean sweep with no-one left disappointed at the end of the day; it's going incredibly well so far!

Hello , sorry for curt post but my hands were trembling. Well done Molio's DS and everyone so far and Littleham I can't tell you how much I have crossed for you and your Dd.

Roisin - A letter came to the house - I texted DS at school , he phoned back and I opened it while he was on the phone.

Littleham · 07/01/2015 12:51

I'm sorry to spoil the flow of good news, but it is a rejection for my daughter I'm afraid. Sad Not surprised really given her panic attack.

I am really proud of her for trying though. Out of her original year group of nearly 300 in year 7 at her comprehensive, she was the only one to get an interview at Oxford. (The other girl from the sixth form with an interview joined in year 12 from another school)

So glad I booked the York visit now. Also really happy that two of the Musketeers got through. Smile

Iamcuriousyellow · 07/01/2015 12:53

Delighted to hear of these offers! Congratulations to all!

MarianneSolong · 07/01/2015 12:56

... and commiserations as appropriate...

roisin · 07/01/2015 12:58

Commiserations to Littleham. When are you going to York? ds1 is going up for an offer holders' day at half term in Feb, I haven't decided whether to go with him or not.

MadameJosephine · 07/01/2015 12:58

So sorry to hear that littleham my DS has an anxiety disorder and just about managed not to have a panic attack during his first cambridge interview but was paralysed with fear in the second and said very little so is convinced he'll be rejected. Your DD should be massively proud of herself for getting so far in the process and for having the mettle to put herself through the experience. I hope she is happy and successful wherever she studies Flowers

YogaCats · 07/01/2015 13:16

Well done to everyone's DC!

Sorry to report a rejection here too, at least we know now. In a way I'm quite relieved it's over!

meisiemee · 07/01/2015 13:18

My colleague has her DD letter but can't open it until DD home, it's a thin envelope, is that a good or bad sign?

Littleham · 07/01/2015 13:22

So sorry Yogacats.

My dd's envelope was thin mesiemee.

roisin - Wednesday 18th February - Offer Day at York. Looking forward to it.

Thanks everyone. Good luck to your son MadameJo.

MadameJosephine · 07/01/2015 13:33

Thanks littleham I'm actually sitting in York station now waiting for a train, such a lovely place

RandomFriend · 07/01/2015 13:38

Congratulations to all the DCs with offers.

So sorry, Littleham, that your DD was not one of them. She is obviously brilliant to have got this far and I wish her all the best a York or wherever.

Did you all receive envelopes? Should I be checking our letter box? Or did your DCs get the news by email?

ryansbeat · 07/01/2015 13:42

Just to say that it was a no for my DD...she's very disappointed and says she feels humiliated. I told her that I love and am proud of her and she did so well to get to this stage.

Congrats to all those who have got offers and big hugs to all those who haven't had good news. I'm a firm believer of what will be will be and that they will all do well wherever they go. (just to add, a letter arrived at home.)

Classicsgirl · 07/01/2015 13:44

Letter for us - luckily DD was at home after mocks so could open it without any of the rest of us about. Sorry it isn't good news for all...

roisin · 07/01/2015 13:45

Sorry to hear that ryansbeat: hope she bounces back soon and acknowledges that it's an achievement to get an interview.

How many letters did your dc get? Apparently there are 2 envelopes at home for ds1!

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 07/01/2015 13:54

Congratulations and commiserations to everyone. Three years ago two envelopes arrived for my son. One was from the college he'd applied to saying no. The other was from the college where he had his other interview saying yes.

Fingers crossed for those still on tenterhooks.

cathyandclaire · 07/01/2015 14:23

Well done to those with places and Wine and Cake to those without. They have all done brilliantly to get so far and will have a wonderful time at their Unis of choice.
I have followed your lead Littleham and DD and I are off to re-visit Bristol :) when an offer was a while ago it's easy to forget about the achievement and the excitement.
Roisin, two letters sounds excellent, surely they wouldn't send two rejection letters that would be horribly harsh!

roisin · 07/01/2015 14:27

ds1 has his offer so we are delighted. The offer is from the second college, not the one he applied to; but it's a great college, so he's delighted. (And that was the one at which he had a very tough interview!)

I can't believe the process is now all over for us!

Hang on in there those who are still waiting for dc to get back from school.

RandomFriend · 07/01/2015 14:29

Absolutely on tenderhooks here. Nothing in the postbox.

Those of you who received letters, were these posted yesterday? If so, I guess DD's will arrive tomorrow or Friday.

Ryansbeat, your DD should not feel humiliated. Please remind her of the statement from Oxford where it says that they just cannot take everyone that deserves a place. I hope she feels better soon.

Grammar · 07/01/2015 15:36

We're waiting for Cambridge on sat/ Monday. Can I ask what the acceptance letters/ rejections letters look like. Are all the rejection ones thin, the acceptance/offer ones thick or big?

PD6966 · 07/01/2015 16:45

No offer here, but loving reading the good news on this thread - I can only imagine how ecstatic you all feel! Well done to everyone and of course, commiserations to others xxx
DS has said he's finding managing the disappointment of others trickier to deal with than his own; thankfully he is very content with his UCL offer and I am just glad that the emotional roller coaster has finally slowed down. So proud of my lovely boy!

HocusUcas · 07/01/2015 17:17

PD6966 - I was at UCL (albeit a long time ago ) . You should be proud . It is my alma mater and it is the most fantastic University .
