Continuing Roisin's thread.

I've even succumbed to TSR, having sworn I wouldn't. Still no news here and haven't heard of news from any other source in the same subject at the same college but being very uncool tbh as the reality is that rejection after an interview would be much kinder for DS than a no ab initio. Massively cheered by a late afternoon offer from Bristol though. I thought I was chilled, I'm clearly not Grin.

Fingers crossed for everyone still waiting and hoping. It's very hard to see them disappointed, is the problem :(

Grammar: ds1 had two letters. One rejection from his first place college and one an acceptance from another college. Both were in A5 sized envelopes and both were a single sheet of paper. But the acceptance letter was fatter as it had a booklet in from the University about funding.

Hocus bet you're still high on the fabulous news, huge congratulations! Feel so much better for seeing him now I'm home from work, he's fine, thank goodness - been sitting on his bed having a cuppa whilst he was choosing his preferred London accommodation - any tips with this?!
Enjoy your evening of celebration; did you weep, squeal, run around or several of the above?!

Molio · 07/01/2015 17:36

Oh dear Littleham, I'm so sorry :( And sorry for the other DCs who are disappointed too Flowers/Cake.

Huge, huge congratulations to all with good news Grin Grin Grin and commiserations to those disappointed. Sorry to hear some dc are taking it badly. Sad

It was a no for ds. I am (quietly) very, very happy and ds appears to be indifferent - he does have four offers so was pretty relaxed anyway! He will now (all being well) go to a London college I know very well and where his cousin is a postdoc so the department is "known" to us! I may have done a little dance when he said that (I'm admitting nothing, your honour Wink).

He now wants to start planning our summer holiday Hmm - such is the resilience of youth.

Good luck to all "rejectees" for their other universities. Onwards and upwards!

RandomFriend · 07/01/2015 18:28

May I ask those of you who have received letters today whether the decision shows in "Track" in UCAS ?

webwiz · 07/01/2015 18:48

Congratulations to those with offers and I hope those who weren't successful feel ok about it.

MarianneSolong · 07/01/2015 18:53

Just to say my daughter is really pleased because she got an offer from Bristol today. She's already had one with the same grades - AAA - from Kings London. I'm pleased she can choose between a regional city that she really liked when she visited, and London. She's also glad that the whole UCAS offers thing is going to be over in a very few days.

webwiz · 07/01/2015 19:24

Well done to your DD for the Bristol offer Marianne.

DS's two good friends have both had rejections today. They are Ok though and have other offers from good universities (Durham for history and Manchester for PPE). Their view seems to be 'oh well, it was worth a try' which is a pretty good attitude to have. I hope DS can handle it as well if he gets similar news

roisin · 07/01/2015 19:41

randomfriend - not on UCAS yet. The letter says by the end of the month.

Figmentofmyimagination · 07/01/2015 20:33

Hello everyone. Congratulations, commiserations and good luck to everyone's DDs. This has been an unbelievably supportive thread and a great place to vent my unhealthy obsession. Arrived home to news of an oxford offer for English, so a new exciting chapter opens!

roisin · 07/01/2015 20:43

Congrats Figment!

ryansbeat · 07/01/2015 21:03

Congratulations on all the good news......DD home now and I gave her a big hug and we had a good chat. She was very down at first but she's beginning to feel a bit more positive and looking towards her current offers. Still waiting to hear from Durham which will be her first choice if she gets an offer. She seems to think most of the Durham offers have been given out...is anyone else waiting to hear from Durham?

Figmentofmyimagination · 07/01/2015 21:10

We're waiting to hear from Durham and as far as I know so are all the humanities applicants at DDs school. Durham emailed earlier on in the process to say not to expect offers as a general rule until January. It came into my inbox because I booked the open day.

AtiaoftheJulii · 07/01/2015 21:24

Lovely to hear of so many successes, and sympathy to those who didn't get what they were hoping for - and all the best for the future for everyone, wherever they end up.

DD got an offer, so we are all happy here tonight.

roisin · 07/01/2015 21:30

Congrats Atia

We're still waiting to hear from Durham ryansbeat (English)

MrsBartlet · 07/01/2015 21:51

Congratulations to those dc who got offers and commiserations to those who didn't - I hope they are not too down. They should all be proud of themselves for giving it a go and I am sure the preparation will stand them in good stead wherever they go.

ryansbeat dd is still waiting to hear form Durham for English.

roisin · 07/01/2015 22:10

Coconutty - ds1's offer is just the standard offer for his subject: A*AA.

Molio · 07/01/2015 22:28

Glad to hear of some more good news for Atia and Figment and hugely impressed by the outlook of Raidne's DS. Have you still not heard RandomFriend? If not, how grim. DS was told track won't update for weeks. DS still hasn't heard from Durham either, just a Christmas message of cheer. The outcomes for DS and his school friends and peers indicate just how much luck is involved - especially in the humanities I think, which are far less centralized.

Coconutty the offer is AAA for English. I think that is the standard offer.

DD has heard. Her letter arrived by email early evening. Unfortunately, it doesn't contain an offer.

Oh well. I'm glad she tried. She got a lot out of her visits to Oxford.
