Congratulations to everyones DC, and to all the parents who will have been stressed out!

Petrasmumma · 14/08/2014 16:53

Hope everyone is doing Ok. No problem here. DD exceeded her Durham offer, relief all around.

onadifferentplanet · 14/08/2014 17:01

Still awaiting a decision here from Edinburgh, am rather giving up hope it will be today now. DS is happy with his insurance if he doesn't get in but feels rather in limbo until the decision is made

Littleham · 14/08/2014 17:20

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

She is in to Bristol. The relief! She is over the moon with happiness.

That is excellent news, well done littleham's DD!

DS is over the moon that he got into his firm choice. I think the biggest relief is just knowing they have a place, the grades aren't important, it's getting to the next stage for them that really counts.

secretsquirrels · 14/08/2014 17:27

Wine Cheers Littleham and your DD.

Needmoresleep · 14/08/2014 17:29

Fab news....

boys3 · 14/08/2014 17:34

Littleham, brilliant news, delighted for your DD

ajandjjmum · 14/08/2014 18:11

Great - open that champagne. For those still waiting on decisions - sympathy - I remember how hard it was.

prettydaisies · 14/08/2014 18:23

DD has nowhere and is so upset. It's horrible to see. Bristol wanted aaa for geog and she has a a b and was rejected. Doesn't sound as though they are taking tbem with missed grades.
I guess today is not the day for any major decisions.

Littleham · 14/08/2014 18:26

Good luck prettydaises - so sorry to hear that. What subject is she wanting to take? If you need any help with clearing feel free to drop me a line (I did an awful lot of research!!).

Oh goodness, your poor DD getting such great results and still being turned down. Was Bristol her first choice or insurance?

Raidne · 14/08/2014 18:30

Good grief, prettydaisies, your poor, poor dd. Her grades are fantastic - it is incredible that she doesn't have a place anywhere! Shock

LaVolcan · 14/08/2014 18:41

There seem to be a good number of geography places in clearing, including Russell Group universities, so I would be surprised if she wasn't snapped up.

MrsJayGatsby · 14/08/2014 18:46

Congratulations to everybody & their children who got the results they were waiting for.

I got in :) I called the university this morning & they confirmed my place, apparently I should have received my confirmation a while ago (i posted yesterday - page 18 i think - about my problems) but somebody had apparently mislaid (or something) my results!
Never mind, at least I found out eventually. Now I just have to figure out how I'm going to go about studying full time with two young children, alone! Wine

BlueStringPudding · 14/08/2014 19:06

prettydaisies so sorry to hear your DD didn't get in to Bristol, it sounds like she was very unlucky.

We researched clearing places for Geography, and as well as Leeds and Cardiff, DD really liked the look of the Geography course at Exeter - at their Penryn Campus. A friend of hers went there and raved about it - all are excellent universities, so well worth taking a look. I'm sure your DD will get a good place sorted soon, but the waiting is so stressful ...

prettydaisies · 14/08/2014 19:20

Thank you. It was unfortunate that she didn't get through to bristol until just after 5 which hasnt left her much time today. But maybe sleeping on it will help. I think she'll probably reapply next year but we'll see.
Well done to all those with places. Just hope DD will see that it is not the end of the world even though it seems like it now. She's adamant that she's not going out with her friends this evening.

Scoobyblue · 14/08/2014 19:34

Manchester Uni were advertising places for geography with AAB. I went to Manchester and it is fab!!!!!

Littleham · 14/08/2014 19:58

Southampton is in clearing for Geography (asking AAB), so another good university to try prettydaisies. There seems to be lots of choice in clearing this year.

Congratulations to all those who got what they wanted and keep going to those who are still looking. I'm astonished at some who were so near and didn't get accepted. It seems cruel.
My twins both got their first choice and with grades AAB and A*BB I'm incredibly relieved that they both did equally well.
Please keep trying prettydaisies' DD!

lalsy · 14/08/2014 21:13

Littleham, fantastic news Wine.

Prettydaisies, that is so so tough.

lismore · 14/08/2014 22:30

prettydaisies I hope your teen is very proud of their grades- it seems like a very harsh / unlucky decision and they should find a really good alternative with such good grades.

littleham many congratulations-I'm glad it turned out so well after all!

Best of luck to all DCs still sorting out their next step.

TeaAndALemonTart · 14/08/2014 22:48

Yay Littleham, great news.

I hope your DD feels better after a sleep, Daisy. She got brilliant results.

zizza · 14/08/2014 23:11

Horrible for you to see her so upset Prettydaisies when she did so well.; Hope things look better for her in the morning.

Congratulations to your dd Littleham - what a long day!

My ds got his email from the accommodation people confirming his room this afternoon - which was another nice thing to tick off the list. I called in on a friend whose dd is going to Bournemouth - she had to register for accommodation a while ago but wait until it went live at 12noon today to actually apply. So a few minutes past, by the time she got to the actual selection part, her first two choice looked like they were already full. Rang them and they said, yes, that probably was the case, everyone must've been quick off the mark! Nearly clicked on the confirmation for a place in her third choice (which she really wasn't keen on) when we decided to have another double-check on the first choice, and sure enough there were loads available. Then a race to get into a flat, where she got turned down twice for being the wrong gender!! (I think there were already some girls and when it's mixed they try to get half and half). What a palaver. Got there in the end.

Timetraveller · 14/08/2014 23:19

I've been catching up with everyone's news after travelling all day.
DS didn't get the STEP grades he needed for Cambridge, so he's going to Bath. He got 4 A*s which he's very pleased about and I'm so proud of him.

Well done to everybody's DC - they've all worked so hard. Good luck to those still waiting.
