A Level Anxiety

Toffee22 · 14/08/2011 22:42

Only 4 more "sleeps" until the A level results come out - not that I will be doing much sleeping...

Eldest son wants to study medicine. 3 "A's" required no slip ups allowed. Have just checked and most medical schools don't accept re-sits. How can I face looking at the cold hard facts at some point on Thursday. I'm sure it will be difficult for my son too! When I tried to talk to him about it today instead of a response he said he would do an "impression of a tree". It wasn't even a very good impression. What does this mean?

Yep,grinning like a demented thingy!

sieglinde · 18/08/2011 10:01

Well done, curry! Brilliant news, and a yay to harbinger.

Shitter · 18/08/2011 10:09

well they are saying results are up again for 29th year running. It does make those who have not done so well, feel extra shitty though when you hear things like that.

RockStockAndTwoOpenBottles · 18/08/2011 10:12

WELL DONE to everyone! I am sitting here with big fat tears of joy for a whole bloody bunch of people I don't know!! So pleased and cheered to read happy mummies and co on here after the past gawd knows what of nerves. I'm only at the AS stage, but DD1 did really well and I am beyond proud of her. We have the GCSE results next week too for DD2, so perhaps see some of you on the next nail biting thread shortly.....

Wine raised to you all and all your clever clever children. xx

duchesse · 18/08/2011 10:12

Bloddy still waiting for boy child and husband to get dressed & go out to bloody school to fetch the resutls!!! I smell the stench of prevarication. UCAS site too overloaded apparently to load.

Ponders · 18/08/2011 10:18

oh curry, I'm so pleased for you!
carp & Fellatio & duchesse, hope you all get good news soon
harbinger, fantastic results for your DD, well done her

DS2 has got his - finally - AAB, hooray! Grin

(it was the B I was really worried about, was concerned he might get C & he wasn't far off but never mind, he's in!!!)

follyfoot · 18/08/2011 10:21

Really pleased for you curry. Hang on in there the rest of you (especially you Fellatio)

missdisorganised1 · 18/08/2011 10:21

I did it ? I got the grades I needed and I?m off to uni as planned!! I needed 280 points, which is a BBC, and I managed to get ABB.

The Head of the Sixth form was lurking and clearly looking out for me when I arrived at school and I could tell by her broad smile that I didn?t have anything to worry about. She was very kind and made a special fuss of me knowing that I didn?t have parents outside in the carpark or on the other end of the phone. I thought I would feel tearful whatever way the results worked out but I didn?t. It was more like a massive weight lifted off my shoulders.

I think all of my friends got the grades they needed and six of us are going out tonight.

Can I say to the people here that have supported me, thank you, you did make a difference.

Charleymouse · 18/08/2011 10:23

Great to read of so many DC's off to Uni ! Well done, everyone !

Hope those who didn't quite get what they needed will be able to sort something out, perhaps today.

Great advice on here which I'm storing up for DD in 6 years, and DS in 9 ! Blush

LuzLuz · 18/08/2011 10:51

missdisorganised1 heard your story and wanted to say massive CONGRATULATIONS! You are a very inspirational person.

Take care and enjoy uni! x

bestCourse4me · 18/08/2011 10:52

A special well done to missdisorgnanised - excellent news. Not sure if Ok to post this here but in the hope that it's useful - if your DC didn't get the grades they need, before commiting to a different course or university, www.bestCourse4me.co.uk might be worth checking - it has clear statistics on the link between each course studied and each university and their employment outcomes - so you'll know what % of people are in the jobs you're interested in after studying the course you're being offered.
