A Level Anxiety

Only 4 more "sleeps" until the A level results come out - not that I will be doing much sleeping...

Eldest son wants to study medicine. 3 "A's" required no slip ups allowed. Have just checked and most medical schools don't accept re-sits. How can I face looking at the cold hard facts at some point on Thursday. I'm sure it will be difficult for my son too! When I tried to talk to him about it today instead of a response he said he would do an "impression of a tree". It wasn't even a very good impression. What does this mean?

1 point! Hope it all works out for him Curry.

Keep ringing. The university may be trying to get through too to confirm places. I remember ringing the designated number and then getting through to the parent or even grandparent who gets all excited and panicky at the same time when you say 'it's university of X calling regarding his offer...'.

Definitely get a remark, colleague of mine last year was one mark off ,got a clearing place for another Uni ,three weeks later remark gave higher grade ,original Russell Group Uni honoured their offer .

Best result would be though that they accept today ,he needs to call and explain .Good Luck Biscuit

Will read thread properly when home, but DD1's AS results are As in english and geog, Bs in General Studies and Economics and C in Psychology. So very very pleased, though she's disappointed with her Bs, delighted with her C as she's dropping it for Year 13 anyway. Phew. Now I have DD2's GCSEs to fret about next Thursday...

Bless him, it's so stressful.

carpwidow · 18/08/2011 09:33

Fxxxg UCAS. You'd think they could sort it for today and make the system man enough for the onslaught.

Pagwatch · 18/08/2011 09:38

Well done curry family Smile

FellatioNelson · 18/08/2011 09:38

My DS has just phoned the admissions people and they say they will not tell him anything over the phone yet. He must either find out through track or he can phone back once he has picked up his results. Confused Doesn't sound good.

I wonder if they are being deluged because track is down, and they want to keep the lines clear to do deal with people who have fallen short of grades?

carpwidow · 18/08/2011 09:38

Ds won't go into school for results til he knows whether he is in via track, which is obviously down. He said it will be too hard in front of his friends. I said he could have checked track and 7am and he said - the result would have been the same at 7am s it is now!

carpwidow · 18/08/2011 09:40

Well done to PAG and Curry DCs :)

harbingerofdoom · 18/08/2011 09:41

Leaps up and down! She's in,with A*,A,A, and another A at AS level. Now we have to wait for a College.

All the best to those who still have Unis to contact.

TeamDamon · 18/08/2011 09:43

According to BBC, track has not crashed as such - it has actually been taken down due to high traffic Confused You'd think they'd develop a system which could cope...

drcrab · 18/08/2011 09:43

To get through to the admissions team you need to have not get through to your firm or insurance (by choice or necessity). Know all your grades, know for certain that you really want to do this particular course at this place (ie not just hedging bets).

They can't deal with your request and offer a place if you don't know whether you already have a place at firm/insurance. So first port of call, school or track. Biscuit

notyummy · 18/08/2011 09:44

What great results Harbinger - you must be very proud.
