Ah ok, hopefully she'll get in then. Don't know anything about allocations etc but good luck to her :)

I was on the Endcliffe site 20 years ago, when it was 3 separate halls. Brisk 5 mins Ranmoor to Endcliffe I think.

Endcliffe is a good 20 min walk to main campus, but is a lovely setting, and quite close to Broomhill - Nibbles Pizza (yum)and Williamson's Hardware for all the extras like mugs, storage boxes etc.

Well, I'd had time to collect stuff by then, but I had to hire a transit to get home after finals from first degree...Dad took me to uni in first year and mum stayed home with little bro. |She won't need half the stuff you send her with, but she'll still take enough to more than fill a small car!

Interested to hear experiences of students without parents with transport.

Obviously you have to downsize to the bare minimum but can you manage with worldly possessions and public transport across the country. Any tips on coping with this most welcome.

Happy - I then went to work in NZ for a year with no excess baggage charges, so for the record I can pack light, too! Grin

Dd is in halls at Keele this year and when she first went we had three of us plus stuff in a yaris verso. I am going up at Easter on my own to collect her as everything has to come home and I don't think we could get three of us in the car! Her boyfriend has been visiting regularly and has taken some stuff up with him most times he has gone so stuff expands to fill the space.

Mind you I am going up the day before she comes home so we will sort everything to make sure only the things that she actually needs go back with her after Easter as she only has a maximum of six weeks there next term.

As she is a girl possibly not! My Ds went to uni 2 years ago with all his stuff and plenty of space in a Fiat Panda. The girl in the next room to him had her father deliver her stuff in his large work van and it was full up - mainly boxes of shoes fromwhat I can recall!
