Well, I have made it!
2days not smoking now, I think it is easier because I feel a cold coming on, so my breathing is a bit heavy anyway
I have eaten a mountain of food today...sandwiches, toast, crisps, biscuits..crap really.

Hello everyone , well I watched the dvd and I think it might just have blummin worked . I know that this is ridiculously early days but I just feel different about it . It is all about shifting your head from thinking about "giving" something up and makes you realise what a slave to nicotine you are , and the fact that if you didn't smoke you would just feel so much better without all those ties .

I suppose I feel free from it . Just have to get over the withdrawal thing now . I really want this to work so I suppose that is half the battle .

How is everyone doing this morning ?

I'm still going but there have been moments, which, in hindsight, I don't know how I got through! The time at home when I'm working on the computer (I do half time at home) are without doubt the worst, as well as any moment where I feel stressed about something.

It's a week tomorrow for me but I wish I was feeling the cravings less than I am. Definitely more than 3 times a day!!!!!

Funnily enough, I can go a whole 8 hours at work now and barely think of cigarettes which goes to show it is all psychological at this point, isn't it? I can't go 10 minutes at home without thinking about it. Just got to break those associations. Boredom and stress seem to be my big triggers!

travellingwilbury · 11/02/2010 13:24

A week tomorrow ! That is really impressive , you should be so chuffed with yourself . As you say it is all the triggers to sort out now . You have done the nicotine withdrawal .

violetbloom · 11/02/2010 13:27

Well, I'll be honest because I said I'd be honest on here. I don't feel very chuffed at all. I ought to. I would have been a week ago if you'd told me I'd stop smoking for a week. But right now I feel kind of depressed about it, like there's nothing to look forward to in the same way as that little smoke reward thing. I woke feeling very down about it. I'm hoping that feeling will pass. I was excited about it prior to that.

I feel like today is the closest I've come this week to quitting quitting!

I think that is why I like Allen Carr ( so far so good anyway) he gets you to look at it all differently . Having a cig isn't a reward really is it ? It is back to smoking and all that that brings with it . Honestly I still really loved a smoke but now I do feel free from the bloody things .

Not having to worry about how many I have got left , or if I stink of smoke when I go up to the school . And that is without all the health / money nonsense .

I really hope you manage to get past this blip , you will only have to go through all this again at some point .

violetbloom · 11/02/2010 14:06

Yes, I know. I'm trying to see it as part of the process which will pass.

Thanks DepecheMode! I once danced to you at a really odd nightclub in the US with my brother.

Well, tonight's been the easiest night for cravings since I quit. Just the odd intense pang. I am more stressed and irritable though. I got really niggly with dd tonight over nothing and I banished her DSi for the half term holiday! Why did I do that??? She wrote me a note saying 'I am styoupid and my mummy hates me.' So I apologised and told her I was quitting smoking and that it made me very niggly. She got the DSi back. You see, I'd never normally do anything like that. I'm very tetchy.

Anyway, I'm a week through now. And I'm glad it's this week and not last week as last weekend was the pits.

Good luck to all you other farewell fag friends!

One week today! This time last week I was feeling GRIM, not half so bad this week although I still miss the little death sticks if I'm being honest... It's more of a missing now though than a desperation to have one.

quidnunc - what the heck happened to you?

OP posts:
travellingwilbury · 12/02/2010 10:18

Well done Violet

A whole week is fab going . I am glad to hear that it is easier for you now as well .

Day 2 for me and still feeling ok about it , I am getting the odd pang but nothing too scary . I really think I am going to do it .

violetbloom · 12/02/2010 10:45

Remind me, are you using NRT at all or going cold turkey? And how many per day were you smoking?

I was on about 10 a day, rarely more than that, often less, about 6 a day. I'd thought that it would be easier to quit at that amount than it was. But I'm getting there.

I can now go to bed each night without that feeling of guilt over dd.

OP posts:
travellingwilbury · 12/02/2010 13:24

Hi violet , no NRT and I was smoking 20 a day

Still doing ok , so far so good . I am hoping because I def don't want to smoke then once the nicotine has gone then I will feel better . ( fingers crossed and all that )

violetbloom · 12/02/2010 14:56

Wow, that's amazing! You're doing really incredibly well. I was a lunatic on day 2 and day 3. It has been easier since then and there are definitely long stretches of hours now where I don't think at all about a cigarette. It's when I remember and think about it that I want one.
