Congratulations coolma

How have you found it ?

Depeche I hope the swimming went well last night . I am back on track today , I am feeling a wee bit better and I have got a busy day ahead . I am not great when I get bored .

violetbloom · 24/02/2010 10:06

Yes, 2.5 weeks gone, I'll be glad to say 3 weeks on Friday.

I am still having wobbles though. Yesterday evening I felt desperate for a smoke and today I've been thinking about it on and off since I woke up, with pangs and a feeling of needing to go and buy cigarettes!

I must look at some of the info again and see when this sort of craving will die down.

It seems ok this time - I say this time, this is the fourth time since last year and I had givn up for three years previously . Anyway, I am seeing the nurse at my GP's using patches and inhalator and am feeling a lot more confident. It's very true - you'll only do it if you really really want to!! The mornings are still the worst though..

travellingwilbury · 25/02/2010 17:51

Hello all , how we all doing ?

I am really struggling today , this is the first time that I have really thought bugger it I want a cig .

I know I would be gutted if I did have one but I am struggling today for some reason .

The first two weeks is always the hardest - you should be getting over the psycholgical stuff now - the triggers will hopefully be going which in turn should help with the cravings. Please don;t stop stopping!! I've done a month now which feels fabulous. I have, at the bottom of my compter a little box which tells me exactly how many I haven't smoked, how much money I've saved etc. An excellent reminder and a real motivator. Quit time, it's called. Download it

bibbitybobbityhat · 25/02/2010 19:48

Well done everyone.

Keep going!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. don't feel disappointed if you keep getting cravings. I still do, very rarely now, (17 months down the line) but having a craving doesn't mean you have to do anything about it. Acknowledge the craving, think "oh I'm having a craving, how odd" and then just get on with your day.

You are all doing brilliantly .

Well done for not giving in Depeche , it took all my will power yesterday to not give in to it . It is blumming hard at times isn't it ? Thankfully most of the time it is ok . And it is def worth it .

bibbitybobbityhat · 26/02/2010 21:28

Wilbury - 10 to 20 a day for 20+ years. I did give up for both pregnancies and I have given up for more than a year twice before pre-kids . But this is the longest I have been off them .

3 weeks is a well known milestone in giving up terms. You would all be absolutely stark staring mad to go back to it now!

violetbloom · 27/02/2010 21:30

Well done everyone for sticking with it.

Travel, it has definitely got easier at 3 weeks in but there are still moments! And I do still 'miss' it, or some aspects of it. But I won't / can't go back now. Not this time. And today, for instance, I think for the entire day (was out with dd and dp all day) I didn't even think about fags once. Not once! This evening a feeling is creeping back in but it's not major.

I'm looking forward to the time when there are no cravings whatsoever. It's an unpleasant feeling like an empty yearning in the chest and a really niggly desperation in the brain!

Violet and all - as I sit here checking in on Threads Im On - I've suddenly realised, at 10 to 10 in the evening, that I have not thought about smoking all day. Not in a "oh I have given up" way, not in a "look at that poor sod still addicted to cigarettes" way, not in a "oooo I could just fancy a cigarette now" way.

They genuinely have not crossed my mind - it was only this thread that made me think about smoking today.

You will all get there. Keep going .

travellingwilbury · 01/03/2010 07:04

Of course you can

A slip is just that a slip , tbh I am surpised that we haven't all had at least one slip . I have been so tempted and it really wouldn't have taken much for me to have a cigarette .

I have just ordered the dvd (I borrowed the last one from a friend) . I think I need to watch it again as I can really feel my resolve weakening .
