been to see dh. they have put him on the new strong drugs (dobutamine)) but th3ey are going to keep him on it till the op. they have given him sheets on the device (javik 2000) and iwill be trained on how to de3alwith it if things go wrong. havent actually spoken to the docs myself but will do at some point in the week. feel very overwhealmed right now, its like i'm watching someone elses lives unfold not mine and dh's.

sh*t. just spoken to peter. the dobutamine isnt as effective l;ast night/today as it was on friday. he is feeling very rough and wants to get out, but knows he cant. i wish i could bring him home . he is going to miss out on dd3 growing up, the first few months are so precious. dd1 is crying for him each night, dd2 asks where he is.

if the dobutamine stops working, then they need to up the dose but that will mean a direct line needing to put into a main vein to his heart. shitty day to match the shitty weather.

aloha · 03/07/2005 15:45

Lost for words misdee. Our little girls are about the same age and I can't imagine coping like you have. You are incredible, just amazingly brave and strong. And I don't say stuff like that easily.
How you hold it all together I don't know.
Thinking of you.

marjoriedawessassy · 04/07/2005 09:03

Nothing I can say Misdee; just wnated to add that you are in my thoughts. You are very strong - of course it all gets too much sometimes.
Pray you will all get some good news soon.

Jimjams · 04/07/2005 09:22

Thinking of you all misdee. Is it today the docs are meeting? Sending lots of sparkly vibes your way.

Davros · 04/07/2005 09:22

Wishing you all the best Misdee. I love those meatballs too! I just hope it all works out, it sounds very tough on all of you

misdee · 04/07/2005 10:26

today is D-Day. if peters blood results indicating kidney and liver function are poor, then they will do a small 'easier' op to fit a tempoary pump thern fit the LVAD in a month or so. so instead of one op, it'll be 2. and he'll be in for approx 4months afterwards.

If his liver and kidney function is better than expected, does that mean they'll hold off until they fit the LVAD?

Hope all goes well this morning Misdee.

katierocket · 04/07/2005 10:29

jampots · 04/07/2005 10:29

am watching this site with more interest than usual today Misdee - hope everything goes ok and thinking of you all xxxx

misdee · 04/07/2005 10:32

if liver and kidney function is good then they will fit the LVAD. as his liver is bad atm his clotting agents in his blood is also bad, so is at higher risk of problems. fitting the LVAd means he'll have to go on the bypass machine, the smaller pump doesnt need bypass machine. but small pump will only work for 2-4 weeks, they are hoping it will help his kidney and liver. then when he isd better from that, they will fit the LVAD.

confused yet?

You need a degree in medical science just to keep up with it all, don't you?! I really feel for patients/relatives who are totally confused by what is going on - it must be an overwhelming experience in the best of circumstances, but particularly if you can't follow what's happening.

QueenOfQuotes · 04/07/2005 10:39

"confused yet?"

Yep - but I'm a scatty blonde so that's no suprise

Hope everything goes well, thinking of you all.

clary · 04/07/2005 10:41

oh misdee, as others say I don't usually post to you as don't know what to say.
But have been following your troubles and am amazed at how well you are able to cope.
Feels overwhelming but you will get through this.
And so much support for you here if you need it.
Cxx
