I got news this morning that one of my friends died yesterday. She was in her very early 30's, two young children and everything to live for. Despite a mastectomy a couple of years ago, the cancer spread and she is gone. I can't tell you how dreadful I feel.

It is so important that we check our breasts regularly. It takes a few minutes and could save your life.
One of my best friends had a message just like this one, but it was face to face and by her boyfriends exgf who also had just had a mastectomy because of breast cancer. This message from such an unlikely messenger almost certainly saved my best friends life.

Pass the message on please ladies. Make sure your friends and family are nudged into remembering to check.

Thank you for thinking i'm a whippersnapper, you made me smile.

I was going to have the biopsy yesterday but the visiting dr didn't want to do it without the mammogram. I know i'm ranting but how thick is it not to have the mammographer there when the dr is only there for the weekend. Grrrrrrrrr!

Hi all, i am another to come and say check.

I found a hard, fixed lump last week i also notice my nipple was poniting down, went GP who said to come back in 4 weeks, luckily my parents put me on there private health some years ago so i saw a breast consultant on Thurs, i had an ultrasound and a fine needle biopsy.

Its not a cyst, and i saw the pics of ultrasound (not that it means much to me) so its a tumour so just waiting for the clear cut answer as to what it is i have to wait a few days the breast care nurse said, and she will phone me.

So i am playing a very mervous waiting game.

pucca · 20/03/2010 17:37

Sorry for the spelling mistakes

Well another instalment in the longest diagnosis in history hahahaa.

I went for my mammogram today and because of not having it on Friday, my results now have to be sent to England for the doctor to look at them. He will make a diagnosis and treatment decision and then in a week I have to phone the hospital and make an appointment with another doctor to discuss them. How long that will take lord only knows hahaha.

Anyway i'm pretty sure it's nothing sinister, thank god it's not or I hate to think what could have happened, considering I started this process in January!

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/03/2010 19:53

sheesh - what a palaver !

got an appointment with gp tomorrow, pain in armpit for a few weeks and noticed a 'dimple' last week which I ignored for a week in the hope it would go away, but it didnt so off to gp tomorrow
think of me pls am a bit nervous
until I'd googled I didn't realise you were supposed to look in the mirror and raise your arms etc when you checked your breasts - bit thick really - thought it was all about lumps and bumps but turns out 'dimples' are not great news either. hopefully is just milk duct as am still bf dd - who is blooming well 3 and should be weaned by now (knackered emoticon)
