Let it SHIIIIIII-IIINE, Let it Shine....waltzing about in rude good health like we are all in an M&S ad

Welcome to the latest in our series of healthy eating threads (26 and counting)!

The emphasis is on health (which is sometimes rude when we get chatting frivolously, as is our tendency), and weight loss where desired. I obviously don't desire it enough, as I am the same weight as when I started, but some of our regulars are mere shadows of their former selves ...

Do come and sign in here if you are with us, or want to join in- all welcome.

We try a variety of approaches, and there is always a lot of support and quite a few laughs along the way. Shiney is the head honcho round these parts, and we do get to be regaled with her embarrassing stories before the rest of MN, so that's always a big draw

Join us if you will!

Spooky, it isn't everyone but someone who is going on about how the thread is changing and not liking the direction >

SqueezyCheesyPumpkin · 29/10/2009 16:48

Ah, Alice I love your reply! So the problem lies with H&M and not me? Woohoo! I may come out of my huff in that case and go back and try those things in a bigger size

Ladies have a look at the pics on my profile page to see my MN craft gift I got this morning. It's lovely, made by DizzyDay on a Halloween theme. I don't know the name for it but you can put hot stuff on it and it doesn't burn the surface underneath? I may use it in the kitchen or I may use it for my straighteners.

SpookyAlice · 29/10/2009 16:55

Yes Squeezy, i am 5ft3 and size 8/10 on the bottom, 12 on top roughly (because i am an f cup) i have very small shoulders and i am small across the back. I got a lovely double breasted jacket from H&M and the 14 is a perfect fit in the shoulders/hips/back etc. In fact, may even try to find a link

jetcock · 29/10/2009 17:11

Squeezy - that is lovely I wish i had something like that!

Thanks for all the kind words about little bro - i have passed them all along x

TrillianSlasher · 29/10/2009 17:54

Didn't see your thread but I have to have a size up in quite a few H&M things too.

Does your bro want entertaining Jet? He should ask a question an get answers from all of us!

hellsbelles · 29/10/2009 18:05

flippin heck - I hope it's not me scaring off all the regulars. I don't know what the thread was like before??

Squeezy - that is so fab. What a great gift.

Spooky - you are the perfect figure. Lucky lady.

White wine always good.

Lizzylou · 29/10/2009 18:26

Gin is a passable second choice (slimline tonic, natch)

What are our views on Bumsex on a Friday? Is it mandatory, cos I have to work on a Saturday and sit at a desk. Could be a bit uncomfortable.

I've been very good today food wise (we are away for a few days and I'm cooking proper food! Yoghurt & mint baked chicken with pitta and green beans for lunch....and there is a spag bol sauce simmering away now ready!

Shame about the cup cakes but DS loves making them and it would be unkind of me to refuse

FlamingoBingo · 29/10/2009 18:43

Evening all!

Well I'm on tenterhooks waiting for DH to get home to see his new car and to find out how it went!

@ Shiney posting this sentence: I have been asked by DP via email not to mention her again on here

And that would be an example of you not mentioning her, would it, Shiney?

I've been here since the 2nd or 3rd thread and it hasn't changed a bit. Anyone who thinks it has is being uber-touchy and needs to get a SOH!

I haven't lost this week, so today I have had cereal for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch and one biscuit. Bangers and mash for supper - small portion. Going to flipping well run on Sunday - kick me if I don't!

SqueezyCheesyPumpkin · 29/10/2009 19:07

Oh thanks It's fab isn't it?

Am glad a second person is sizing up in H&M too, makes me feel better

Without talking 'in particluar'. People post on the threads that they find comfortable. Some people are more shy and find certain subjects embarrassing but will lurk or ignore. Others will try and join in, not really knowing how to, but they will jump in anyway hoping for the best. A lot of MNers hate talking about sex or politics or trolls or racism or shopping or losing weight or marriage or farting or music or style and beauty......etc etc etc etc. You can't please all the people all the time. We don't all like everything.

I have found it hard at first to blend but I'm a bit like that in RL too, a bit quiet and shy at first and am sure there are lots of people like that. So we are all different. This thread has LOTS to offer and you can pick and choose what you want to read, the jokes you want to take part in. It's not a big deal.

Someone (Trills I think) said the other day "it will be what it will be" and that is true. It's topical, cheeky, sympathetic, helpful, funny and sad all at the same time and it evolves as each person brings new stories, subjects etc. For me, that is the beauty of it. If people don't wanna post - fine, if they do - fine. 6 and half a dozen.

Just my opinion.

Over and out.

jetcock · 29/10/2009 19:11

i too have had healthy food today , am determined to do well from now on - i admit i have been fairly slack but at least i am still losing

have i missed a public slanging match?? I miss all the fun

Trills - he isnt really talking yet, as still tubed up and various facial injuries I am back up north now as well, and he down in London. Am passing messages along via mum

I have bit the bullet and text my sister to ask if she could have mini. She is currently thinking about it, checking her study timetable etc and is getting back to me. I did say that i could either get train all or most of the way and she could get bus to meet me (she doesnt drive but does get free bus travel) or i could get friend to drive us up to Edinburgh and meet up there (not quite half way for me, a little over half way for her). Does that sound fair?

I have also said that i would completely understand if she couldnt, as i know it is a big ask, but that i could really do with some help. There are no neighbours i know well enough (just moved here) and due to my complicated family, it is either 300 miles south or 300 miles north!! South isnt an option due to them having their hands full with little bro.

I said i would need to know either way by tomorrow, as if she cant, i will have to ask mediator to ask ex. Junior is fully expecting him to say no

oh, i am going to see the MJ film tomorrow - for pure nosiness of course

Hope he's had a good day Flamingo!

Squeezy, thats lovely! I need to work on my crafting skills, swaps look fun.

Soup cookbook sounds good Alice.
And that chicken sounds loverly Hells.
I've said it before and I'll say it again (it may get through then), but I have become a terrible and lazy uninspired cook and I'm sure that contributes to the weight problem.

jetcock · 29/10/2009 19:14

Squeezy - thats a lovely description! I myself think i am one of those people who want to join in, worries that i dont know how to, then worry that i will upset/offend everyone when i try and jump in

but, am glad i am here, glad you are all there, and between us, we actually do accomplish some weight loss - which is one of the points of the thread! So i am happy

HydeTheCock · 29/10/2009 19:23

Well I love this thread, love it, love it, love it.

People need to lighten up we have fun and I see nowt wrong with that. I never have and never would be intentionally rude to someone or try to upset them, unles they were a racist or a supporter of racism.

I have had some horrible news today and I am busy getting sloshed on a nice bottle or two of vino.

jetcock · 29/10/2009 19:24

jac - you want to talk while getting sloshed?

SqueezyCheesyPumpkin · 29/10/2009 19:27

PMSL at Shiney being shy!

Whateverrrrrrr

I am off to watch Eastenders, really enjoying the strange dynamic between Heather and Darren just now.
