title says it all really. have been to the gp several times. its getting embarassing. am sure they think i am a total hypochondriac.
feel sick all the time (am popping pepto bismol tablets like theres no tomorrow), dizzy/faintness, gynae probs (ie bleeding between periods and after sex)- no idea if this is related. no appetite really but tummy still seems to be getting bigger . feeling run down, depressed and thoroughly fed up. thought i was going rto throw up in car after picking up kids and cancelled ds2's haircut as thought wouldnt make it. rushed into the house but nothiing. wasnt sick but feel it.
i know there are tummy bugs going around but honestly this isnt just a recent thing, its been weeks and weeks of it. i even thought i might be pg as i felt so bad (despite the fact dh and i have not had sex for ages as i have no libido at all and he has had the snip ).
i just dont know what to do next. any ideas at all what this could be or do i just have to keep going back to gp all the time? have a gynae appt next month to investigate the bleeding btw.
any help/reassurance/advice gratefully received

Have you had your thyroid checked?
Are you up to date with smears?

Niecie · 27/11/2008 16:23

Have you been tested for aneamia (sp) - if you have more bleeding than usual it could explain the other symptoms.

whoingodsnamewasi · 27/11/2008 16:24

Thats rich comng from me, not had a smear for years and have had stomach pains myself now for quite some time

belcantwait · 27/11/2008 16:25

i have had my thyroid checked in the past year or so and it was fine. smear test last month was also fine.
am beginning to hope theres something wrong with me so it can be sorted out. just wish i knew what it was .

feel so sick. bleughhhh. and thus totally unable to cope with the kids. dh has lost any patience with me now, he says its like cry wolf, he has heard me say i feel ill so often he doesnt believe me

Have you considered coeliac disease? You could ask for screening. It is becoming more common in adult women.

The gynae appointment sounds a good plan. Make sure they do a smear test - they should do an ultrasound of your tummy as well.

Also - gall stones can make you feel sick.

Is your GP sympathetic?

belcantwait · 27/11/2008 16:27

anaemia? hmm, not sure if i have or not tbh but when i last went to see gp she took bloods and uurine sample.
am beginning to think its either a) all in my head or b) something unutterably bad

OP posts:
belcantwait · 27/11/2008 16:56

examtaxi- last time i went to see gp about all these probs and she did the bloods she tested for coeliac disease as i know i am intolerant to wheat and cant eat too much of it so she tested me but apparentlly it came back negative sothat was weird. i would be in agony after eating alot of wheat based foods but can eat a bit.
my tummy is so fat i am waddling like a pg person (and am not a fat person so dont normally waddle!). its gutting as lost a stone and a half through ww from jan til the summer and have maintained it but now am getting round again and i dont think its even from over eating

What about a bad case of irritable bowel - see here? It does say that it is possible to get gynae problems with it. It would also explain why all your blood tests came back negative. You can't test for it that way.

Niecie · 27/11/2008 17:24

I should have said, I had it quite badly for a while and was prescribed peppermint oil capsules which are supposed to settle the stomach. I think you can get similar from health food stores. Even if they don't work peppermint is supposed to be good for nausea and I don't think it would do any harm.

Anna8888 · 27/11/2008 17:25

You need to see a gynaecologist ASAP. And to have a full body scan. Please go to your GP and make a fuss for a referral to a gynaecologist.

Niecie · 27/11/2008 17:27

She's got one booked for next month Anna, otherwise I would have said the same thing.

Anna8888 · 27/11/2008 17:29

I think next month is a long way off. Try to get it moved forward if at all possible.

Niecie · 27/11/2008 17:34

Next month starts on Monday but yes, if it is 31st maybe consider chasing for a nearer one.

DumbledoresGirl · 27/11/2008 17:35

Is it literally every day you feel ill or does it come and go? I ask because I have symptoms that come and go but I can safely say I have felt ill every month or sometimes every 2 weeks, lasting a few days at a time since god knows when. I am scared my dh is also beginning not to believe me, such is the frequency with which I greet him with the words "I feel so ill, could you do the kids?"

belcantwait · 27/11/2008 17:47

i literally feel ill all the time as in every day. i had an appt for the gynae monday just gone but dd was poorly plus i had my period so postponed it like an idiot and the earliest they could get me in then was 29th dec. shouldnt have bloody changed it.
why a full body scan anna? i dont think they will do that will they?? should i go and see gp again tomorrow ? its getting abit embarassing now tbh. i think they think i am a total nuisance and they dont seem to know what to do with me

belcantwait · 27/11/2008 17:48

anna- are you a doctor? do you know about these things?

OP posts:
Anna8888 · 27/11/2008 17:51

No I'm not.

But my MOL has ovarian cancer and your symptoms sound suspicious to me.

belcantwait · 27/11/2008 17:51

dh due home soon and i am worried about telling him i feel so ill today as he gets really cross.

OP posts:
belcantwait · 27/11/2008 17:52

bloody hell . sorry to hear about your MIL

OP posts:
Anna8888 · 27/11/2008 17:54

I don't want to panic you - but the swollen stomach and the bleeding and the complete and total exhaustion are definite symptoms of ovarian/gynaecological cancer.

Please go back to your GP and insist on an immediate referral and a full body scan.

8oreighty · 27/11/2008 17:56

All I seem to post on mumsnet, but look into candida...it might be causing these problems...I had it really bad and felt like you do. It was searching on mumsnet that helped me find the problem. Look on www.candidafree.co.uk is a really good explanatory site with a test you can do...

thesockmonsterofdoom · 27/11/2008 17:57

I was thinking coeliacs when I read, all apart from the gynae bleeding, have you told the doc about that part, you can get a blood test for coeliacs.
keep going make yourself a pest they will listen soon enough and it is not right that you feel like this.

ledodgy · 27/11/2008 17:58

I agree with Anna go to your gp tommorrow and insist!

belcantwait · 27/11/2008 18:04

oh god wish i hadnt googled ovarian cancer. i seem to have ALL the bloody symptoms! now i have managed to convince myself i am going to bloody die fgs
