title says it all really. have been to the gp several times. its getting embarassing. am sure they think i am a total hypochondriac.
feel sick all the time (am popping pepto bismol tablets like theres no tomorrow), dizzy/faintness, gynae probs (ie bleeding between periods and after sex)- no idea if this is related. no appetite really but tummy still seems to be getting bigger . feeling run down, depressed and thoroughly fed up. thought i was going rto throw up in car after picking up kids and cancelled ds2's haircut as thought wouldnt make it. rushed into the house but nothiing. wasnt sick but feel it.
i know there are tummy bugs going around but honestly this isnt just a recent thing, its been weeks and weeks of it. i even thought i might be pg as i felt so bad (despite the fact dh and i have not had sex for ages as i have no libido at all and he has had the snip ).
i just dont know what to do next. any ideas at all what this could be or do i just have to keep going back to gp all the time? have a gynae appt next month to investigate the bleeding btw.
any help/reassurance/advice gratefully received

Good Luck at the GP belcantwait, i will second what people are saying about a&e i did this with ds after a year of being fobbed off about his general ill health and bad cough only to find his lung had completley collapsed and he has cf, i got a diagnosis within days.

Also NEVER google symptoms eveything will come up as cancer!

Hoping you get some answers. x

I lived in Exeter for two years, In St Leonards, moved back here 4 years ago. I LOVED Exeter and we go back lots (for Wagamma's mainly [sigh, reminiscing]

It could be fibroids. My SIL has just had one removed the size of a watermelon and her symptoms sound exactly like yours. PS it wasn't cancer.

PeppermintPatty · 28/11/2008 10:34

It doesn't necassarily have to be cancer - it could be a benign tumour or large cyst on your ovary.

I had a large tumour on my ovary (size of a melon!) and had similar symptoms to you - swollen stomach, needing to wee all the time, tiredness, I completely lost my appetite too as I felt so full all the time. It took a long time for the doctors to take me seriously and get it diagnosed which is why it grew so large .
I needed an op to have it removed.
Try not to worry but do try to get seen asap

been to the gp. was a bit of a waste of time tho she was very kind. i told her how awful i felt and that i felt like i was being a nuisance but i was so fed up of feeling so dreadful all the time etc etc. i asked for the gynae appt to be moved forward and she said she would see what they could do but i might just have to wait for a cancellation if one comes up. she wants to do blood sugar test for diabetes but ithink thats unlikely but i'm no doctor so i guess it could be. it feels like they are running out of ideas. she did give me some anti-sickness tablets so hopefully if they work and i stop feeling sick all the time i might perk up. she asked me if i was worried that there was something specific wrong and although i had the list from ledodgy i am ashamed to say i kept it there and said no i didnt know [blush. i just felt stupid, tho that was all down to me, i really like my gp, she is really really lovely and i dont want her to think i am completely crazy. god that sounds lame doesnt it??? my mum is talking about sending me to private hospital in town for full scan if the doctors dont come up with anything.

I found your thread this morning and couldn't believe what I was reading, I could have written it myself. I have been suffering from the exact same symptoms for over 4 months now, constant nausea, extreme fatigue, frequent weeing plus have got swollen lymph nodes in my neck which don't go down. My doctor was lovely and did blood tests last week. The results are in and I have 3 results which have come back requiring attention. The receptionist couldn't tell me much but she did tell me that I definately have low iron. The other blood tests that need attention are the full blood count and some sort of autoimmune test. I am going back to see the doctor on Tuesday.

I think maybe you should go back and ask for a bit more than anti sickness tablets. Maybe it is nothing but, maybe it is a little more than nothing too.

You have my sympathy. I feel dreadful and am sick and tired of being sick and tired! It's making me very depressed too.

belcantwait · 28/11/2008 15:26

timeforme- sorry you are feeling so dreadful too
its good that your bloods have showed theres something to fix tho iykwim
i havbe to say i think the anti sickness tablets are doing what they say on the tin tho still v tired but i can deal with that tbh so long as i dont feel like i am going to vomit 24 hours a day. apparently you cant drink with them tho so thats a bit of a bugger

well I am glad the tablets are helping. I hope you are going to monitor the tiredness though and go back if you don't get better soon. Maybe you are anaemic too, it can be quite debilitating.

I know it is incredibly difficult, but you aren't really telling the doctor the full extent of your symptoms/incapacity are you? The list from ledodgy was great because it actually gave lots of specific symptoms that, taken together, should alert your GP to the fact that you really need proper tests soon (if only to rule out cancer).

Does your doctor have an email? Can you email her and be very specific and say that you are frightened when you get to her surgery? She will understand.

Jackaroo · 29/11/2008 09:16

I was thinking Ov. CA too - don't panic, just get seen.

A friend of mine had it and similar symptoms. Having said that, many of those symptoms could point to other things, so maybe look at all the stuff suggested. BTW, too much pepto bismol is not a good idea (and can make you dizzy!), slow down on those, and try taking domperidone (Motilium at Boots) instead or ask your GP for an anti nausea.

Good luck

J

Sorry, didn't see about tab.s from the GP. Do give them a go...

belcantwait · 30/11/2008 17:17

the anti-sickness tabs are working a treat already am feeling so much better. weird if that is related to my gynae probs but maybe its just a strange coincidence. i do tend to have weird things wrong with me

well i have an update. i went for my appt the other day, the gynaecologist took swabs and also di an internal whilst feeling my tummy and has said that altho everything seems ok in the cervix area he is recommending i go next week for a hysteroscopy and biopsy where they will take some of the womb lining away for anaylsis. he says he is as sure as he canm be its nothing but just wants to make absolutely sure they havent missed anyrthing. he said its prb 'just one of those things'
anyway so my 'op' is next weds and i will let you all know what happened.
