I've got the big one! I will try cutting it - can you still get it out OK?

Gingeme · 11/11/2008 21:50

Yes.

Do they work even if you're quite heavy?

ManxMum · 11/11/2008 22:22

trim the stem a bit at a time until it feels comfy. I have found that the 'a' size fits me great, but I can't get it out aqs it sits too high and the 'b' size sits lower and moves down when I wee. I did trim all the stem of the 'a' one, so thats probably why I can't reach it.

Mung · 11/11/2008 22:26

I trimmed my stem off, as it was uncomfortable. I do need to push down and search a little, but its fine.

Its nothing compared to the first time i put it in and ended up putting it in sideways ...scared the life out of me. But I managed to get it out and I have never had the same trouble again.

Definitely worth the money and I would go on about it more in RL if it didn't freak people out so much.

Spidermama · 11/11/2008 22:29

I interviewed the woman from Mooncup the other day. Did you know there was something similar around in the 30s but it didn't do very well commercially largly because it was considered indecent for women's fingers to come into contact with their fanjos?

Any I totally agree there's something more than convenient, more than ethically and environmentally sound, more than cheap .... there's just something RIGHT about the Mooncup.

loler · 11/11/2008 22:29

I love mine - have used it for 2 months now. Have been really heavy since ds2 and tampons just weren't enough (sorry tmi!) - found period less painful and can seem to tell when I need to empty.

Have told friends about and they've all said yuck but it is surprisingly clean!

I will never go back!

Gingeme · 11/11/2008 22:32

There you go . Thanks Spidermama. I knew I had seen somewhere it was an old fashion thing been bought back to the modern day
Trouble is dh has made a ditty to the tune of the Moonsand commersial :

loler I think Ive talked my sister into getting one. She has used Tampons ever since I can remember and she seemed quite interested. Two of my rl friends use them. Thats why I got one.

I love my mooncup. Can't believe I put up with tampons for so many years. It feels so much cleaner and it really is possible to forget you are having a period.

DisasterArea · 11/11/2008 22:45

am getting all my female relatives one for christmas. am going to be so popular

pushchair · 11/11/2008 22:45

What I meant was if your pelvic floor aint what it used to be will your mooncup fall out? Can you feel it when its in? Does the bathroon get a respray when you take it out? Do you need to sterilise it periodically?

CarGirl · 11/11/2008 22:50

Your pelvic floor would have to be horrendous for it to fall out! No you can't feel it when it's in, no you tip it down the loo when you pull it out.

Haven't sterilised mine yet - must get around to it!

Ah eh are you supposed to take it out for a plonker?

CuddlyToy · 11/11/2008 23:17

I love my mooncup. I used to have very heavy periods so was quite worried about toxic shock using the high absorbancy tampons. I have been using it for about 3 or 4 years now. It really is the best thing since sliced bread.

I did find that when I first started using it I was too worried about positioning it right and was there for ages readjusting but I found that all I need to do is fold it, fire it in, a quick squeeze of the pelvics and that's it for the day.

I cut it right back to the base of the cup and remove it with no problem.

TMI?

smartiejake · 11/11/2008 23:17

What about size? How do you know which one to get?
