I have a spot at the top of my bum which is more of a lump under the skin (so nothing to pop! )

It is at the base of my spine and the top of my bum crack (TMI I know but I cannot describe it any better )

It is soooo excruciatingly painful that it woke me up at 1am and I had to go and lie on the sofa and watch TV.

I can feel it as a lump and it feels as big as Mount Vesuvius but nothing can be done. I have put cream on it but I am really in agony and was all day yesterday too.

Just wanted to share my agony with you.

ooh - be careful - could be an in-growing hair. I knew someone years ago who had that and she ended up having a few ops to get rid of it.

Go to the doctor. It needs attention or it will get worse.

Could it be an in-growing hair? Keep an eye on it as they can turn nasty. It's quite a common place to get them.

My cousin had this op. He was off work for ages. You must go now and avoid it getting worse.

sounds like a cyst or something. Get yourself along to the docs asap as if it's painful it generally means some sort of infection.

You need to get it checked out. My dh and sister have had this. It was something to do with the hair folding back over the hair folicle and it getting infected and very painful requiring surgery. What they had is commonly known, apparantly, as 'trucker's bum'!!

DH had this, had an operation to remove it, there is still a chance it will come back. Has been a nightmare!

Can you feel anything a bit cyst like under the skin? My guess is it's an in-growing hair. See your GP tomorrow, don't leave it to get any worse.

On Friday night the 'area' felt a bit like a bruise.

On Saturday I could feel a small lump but it does feel bigger today.

Am going to put Sudocreme on it now.

oh yes my sister and dh had this too!
Can't remember the name of it but both had to go to hospital to get it removed
It invloved a district nurse coming round to pack it with gauze afterwards
Was very pinful

apparently everyone has some sort of gap there and for some this gap gets infected
