I have a spot at the top of my bum which is more of a lump under the skin (so nothing to pop! )

It is at the base of my spine and the top of my bum crack (TMI I know but I cannot describe it any better )

It is soooo excruciatingly painful that it woke me up at 1am and I had to go and lie on the sofa and watch TV.

I can feel it as a lump and it feels as big as Mount Vesuvius but nothing can be done. I have put cream on it but I am really in agony and was all day yesterday too.

Just wanted to share my agony with you.

sounds like a pilonidal sinus or a seb cyst

they have seen it all before- and worse

go to gp tomorrow deffo

good luck!

clam · 21/09/2008 18:11

How's it going Majeika? Any better?

Majeika · 21/09/2008 21:11

Well, ahem, DH was having a look and cheerfully called out that there was a head on it and did I want him to squeeze?

I said no it was too painful but pus started to come out anyway!!

He got a tissue and apparantly 'stuff' poured out!

It has really eased the pressure and although it still feels bruised, I think it feels better.

Am going to the nurse anyway tomorrow so if it is still bad I will get her to have a look.

Thanks so much for being nice to me. I felt so

Glad it's feeling better. Definitely get it looked at though - don't want it getting worse. Have you tried sitting in a hot-ish bath, might that help it clear?

Nooo cod - I remember those from before. Bleurgh. But fascinating, at the same time.

Majeika · 22/09/2008 10:28

Phew! Think it was just a huge spot in a horrible place which made it more uncomfortable than usual.

DH got all the pus out and am now fine.

48 hours of spot though hurt like hell!

thanks everyone

Oh, you can't beat a good spot spurting vile amounts of pus

If you've got some tea tree oil, dab some on a couple of times a day to keep it becoming infected while it heals.

Are you named after the wizard with the tufty hair who lived in a windmill?

egypt · 22/09/2008 15:20

still get it seen to. does it still weep? ifit is a ps it wont go away. i squeezed dhs and it poured with pus. bleurgh, it stank too. daily more and more pus was produced until he had it seen too.

egypt · 22/09/2008 15:23

and if it infects your body you can get really really sick, which is likey if dh has his hands in the area a lot!!

clam · 22/09/2008 19:06

It could deteriorate again. Chances are all the pus hasn't gone, so it wouldn't hurt to see the doctor/practice nurse anyway....

Majeika · 22/09/2008 19:27

oh DH has his hands there a lot - LOL!

I will get it seen to once I get over the stress and humiliation of my smear today. The nurse could not find my cervix and so I was legs akimbo with my fanjo hanging out for 25 mins while she rooted.

I did not feel I could turn over and ask her to check my bum...........

Had to get the dr in the end........so embarrassed.

I am an 'old timer' Mumsnetter but had a name change and I am named after the magician from the books. DS loves those books.

A couple of people in my family have had pilonidal cysts, they can be hereditary. Apparently they can lie dormant for a number of years and you think it's completely gone, only for it to reappear. Get it checked.

Did you get it checked? I hope you are ok.
My dh had a boil in that general region-so painful for a couple of weeks-the man was nearly in tears. A sitz bath helped some for temporary relief. We (ok-I)drained it some at home -which I know we are not supposed to do but it was the weekend and we were careful to use antiseptics etc. Made the appointment for the specialist to lance it (had to wait 10 days for that ) but dh's too important schedule interfered and it ended up clearing up on its own.

toomanystuffedbears · 23/09/2008 16:09

Sorry only read first page .
I encourage you to keep it bandaged and very clean until it has healed completely. It would be bad if one of those nasty staph infections go into it.
Take care.
