Dh's MBE

We managed to make it all work, and dh was well enough to have it presented yesterday.

Friend organised the medal and citation to be sent from High Wycombe, and dh was awake enough, so at 7 o'clock we started to get everyone together and by 8.15 it was 'done'

Quite wonderful and the right thing to do. Dh deserved to get it, and it was far more meaningful than my picking it up on his behalf 'after'

The citation summed him up to a tee, it talked about his inspirational leadership, dedication and profesionalism. And said how brave he was.

There wasn't a dry eye in the house.

I spent the night with him and can give the nurses no better praise than to say that they are as wonderful as can be. It was almost like being surrounded my MN.

The MN rug was with me, BTW.

Going now to have a shower

Absolutely brilliant news.

But PMSL at the idea of all MN being with you. How many arguments were there going on at the same time, as well as the swearing?!

AttilaTheAntiHun · 21/06/2008 10:25

How wonderful for you both and how proud you must be of each other.
Well done to you both.

So pleased it all went to plan. Others have said it already but IMO this is what MBEs etc are really all about. People like your dh doing a challenging and sometimes thankless job for us all, with such dedication and excellence.
V. glad your rug was with you btw XXX

Am so pleased that the MBE was presented. All the best to all your family.

SoMuchToBits · 21/06/2008 10:38

Brilliant MB! Congratulations again to Mr MB.
I'm glad you were able to arrange it (although I don't see why the Queen couldn't have popped along with it, actually!)

You know that all of MN were with you in spirit, anyway, and probably a bit quieter that way!

PerkinWarbeck · 21/06/2008 10:42

I am so pleased that you managed to arrange the presentation. It sounded lovely (apart from the being surrounded by imaginary people bit - am a bit worried about you now!).

Many many congratulations Mr MB MBE. An honour well deserved.

(I am now visited by the image of a Rug being architected into a super-glamorous Hat. Like a fabulous turban.)
